It did not go well. The workmen were very messy and had no respect for our property. We are still cleaning up outside from the mess they made. From the outset I stressed that my husband had COPD and it was very important that care was taken to keep the work area sealed. That was never seriously addressed. The custom-made cabinetry did not happen. Instead I purchased ready-made vanity and wall cabinets. They are fine, but again there was a misunderstanding about shelving in the shower area. I will have to buy more cabinets or furniture for storage. I was not happy with placement of the sink in the toilet area, but was told "that's how it has to be". The design in the toilet area is quite awkward. Because of the placement of the toilet, the toilet paper holder impedes the door opening all the way. A niche for the paper, or better yet, better placement of the toilet would have solved that problem. There is a lot of "dead space", so I will buy a cabinet or shelving. They neglected to add a new vent for heating and air conditioning in the shower and toilet areas. No one checked beforehand, but the design would not allow for the installation of the solar tube that I wanted. The shelves in the built-in niche were not measured properly, so will not hold the items I intended to put in there. We will hire someone else next spring to help address these flaws. If you want someone who can replace flooring, redo cabinets, a simple update, they are fine. The workmanship was good, but the lack of experience in design really shows. I would imagine if you had architectural plans in hand, they would be fine also. To be fair, the company did use a power washer to clean the cement where the workman used our driveway to mix concrete. However, our front porch is still a mess and there are large areas in the front garden where paint, cement, etc are still a problem. A cleaning woman (provided by the company) did come and worked at removing some of the dust in the master bedroom and the new master bath. I am still cleaning and dusting several times a day. They also offered to retrofit vents. By then, we were both just anxious not to have to deal with them, so said no. We would not recommend them for a full-blown redesign. I believe the company strives to offer a good product, but there needs to be much more listening to the customer and a higher level of supervision all through the process. I am sad to have an "almost" dream bath after spending so much money.
Description of Work: We wanted to expand and upgrade master bathroom. Original contract called for custom made cabinetry, overall design and construction of shower, vanity area and toilet area. We were also to add a solar tube for more natural light. A contiguous closet area was incorporated into the design. We wanted a separate toilet area with a sink, a vanity area and a shower. There was some misunderstanding about using a total ADA design. What we wanted was doors wide enough to accommodate a walker, a shower with a bench and safety bars. We are anticipating staying in the house and are in our 70's, so wanted a modified bathroom that was not exactly ADA, but would allow us room to maneuver if we ever needed to use assistance. Walls and plumbing were moved, a new electrical circuit was installed. The shower is quite beautiful, a few small mistakes in the overall execution (forgot to put in a niche and the shower head is about 6 inches too high). The new vanity is lovely. The toilet area has a small sink, shallow wall cabinet and toilet. We had high grade vinyl flooring installed because it is warmer and softer to the feet than tile. An existing niche was transformed into a cabinet with shelves.

Working with Luis was a pleasure. He did what he said he would do, and he did it quickly. We were very happy with the work performed, and experience with each of his workers. His price was excellent as well. We would highly recommend him for any home improvement project you have pending.

They did an okay job. He is very easy to work with but you need to be very specific on what you want done. We had an intricate floor laid and he did a great job but we were very specific with that. With the stuff that we were not very specific about, it kind of got glossed over. We would definitely work with them again but I would absolutely be more specific about everything simply because he was so easy to work with. Also he came in at like 50 percent less than everybody else. Everybody else said 3-4 months and I have 3 kids under 5 so I didn't have time for that. He got it done in 6 weeks so we could move back in. There was stuff that needed to be done but he was super, super easy to work with. They worked late and worked hard. They forgot to finish the baseboards on the bottom before they put them up, but they came back and finished them so we just needed to be very specific. We think that is the case with any builder.
Description of Work: We used HFA Builders because our house flooded. They ripped up all of the hardwood floors, replaced the floors, finished the cabinets, repainted, put in new countertops and a new backsplash. They did a lot of stuff around here.
