John Sheffield

Description of Work: I hired John Sheffield off Craigs List. He advertises as being an "old school craftsman with over 25 years experience." He isn't! Turns out he's a sociopath preying on the elderly and disabled. He takes the one-third, then doesn't show up again unless he's hassled for days. Then he shows up angry and throws everything everywhere. He stole everything in sight and took some things back to Lowes and got MY money back for himself.. He ripped me off for $700 plus what it cost to get the mess he made of my tile removed. He cleans up well with a grey beard, mustache and grey hair. His birthdate is 5-9-63. His drivers' license expired in 2008!!! Police told me he'd probably had too many DWIs and had it pulled by the court. Be careful hiring anyone online and get a picture ID always!! He uses emails jsheffield43@yahoo.com patchandmatch@yahoo.com and others. He advertises sheetrock, full-service painting and flooring. His references didn't answer. He was seen in handcuffs recently, accompanied by officers from Williamson County. The next report he was at ARK for the homeless in Austin. Like the Phoenix, he always rises again. There are 69 ads on Craig's List doing anything and everything. Says he does 'one job at a time!' (He had four going when I met him, but didn't mention that!) He is without a vehicle or place to live. He's unquestionably an alcoholic/drug addict and I feel he could be quite dangerous when provoked. His pattern is that he hooks up with anyone with a vehicle and "uses" them for perpetrating his scams to go around collecting money, then not doing the job. Most of the info above I've gotten from Wmsn Cy and the 'partner' he briefly used until caught.
