I called Bobbie this morning, Friday the 12th, and she said she'd check on the parts and call me back. I went to check on my husband in the nursing home, and when I got back, she hadn't called back, hour and a half later. I called their office and a man answered saying she had gone out to get contracts signed. I thanked him and hung up and called another company. They came out and fixed the problem. I called Bobbie back and another woman answered. I told her to cancel my order because I had already waited 4 days with no updates and that I had someone come out and fix the problem. Now Bobbie is calling me nonstop telling me I owe them a 20% restocking fee. She also said she called me yesterday, the 11th. No she didn't because I have all my calls on the caller id, and she's not one of them. Then she said she called me this morning, and I told her that she didn't call me this morning, that I had called her before going to the nursing home and she said she would check on the parts and that she still hadn't called me back by the time I got back an hour and a half later. That's when I called another company, and they came out, fixed the problem for 310.00. That's when I knew for sure I was being ripped off at the cost of 990.00.
Description of Work: I bought the 49.00 special to diagnose a problem with my 5 yr old air-conditioner. My air had started blowing warm on Aug. 8. They called me Aug. 9 and sent someone out. At first, he said it sounds as though it froze up and maybe I needed to change the air-filter. After doing so, the tech checked other things on the outside unit. He finally said it had a leak and quoted me a price of 990.00. He said he had 7 other jobs and would have to send 2 people out that afternoon. Later on, I got a call from Bobbie from the office telling me they had to order a part from South Carolina and it should be in Thurs or Fri. It is now Friday, and I haven't heard a word since Wed.

Thank you for the review. I'm sorry you were unhappy with the service. I understand its not fun to wait around in a hot house so your AC can be fixed. I did try calling you back after you talked to Bobbie but you didn't answer and I left a voicemail requesting a call back. Normally, the parts house charge a 20% restocking fee so we have to [Member Information Removed] that fee on to the customer if they cancel the order. I was able to call the parts house and have the order cancelled. They did not charge a restocking fee because I explained the order was cancelled by the customer due to the parts not being shipped on time. The freon in the unit was low due to faulty service valves. They will need to be replaced eventually because the freon will leak out again and again. We did offer to work with you on payment arrangements and will still do that if you decide to go ahead with the repair. Again, I apologize for the inconvenience.

We just moved in a few months ago. Our A/C wasn't working properly, and they quickly pinpointed the problem. Our unit was 22 years old and the coils weren't working properly because the previous owner never bothered to use filters. The coils were so gross and rusted out (and the unit was so old) that it made more financial sense to just replace it. They gave us a great price, and came the next day to do the work. They were quick, professional, and did a great job. No problems since.

Description of Work: I have been using Indoor Weather Professionals for approximately 3 years since a lightening strike knocked out my AC in the middle of the summer. I have used them at least once a year to perform an annual service/inspection on my HVAC system. Thank goodness I had them come when they did....they found 2 gas leaks in my furnace!!!! They are preparing 2 bids for me: 1 for only repairs and 1 for replacing the whole system. Whichever I choose to do, I will definitely let Indoor Weather Professionals complete the work! They have always been honest with me and taken the time to explain to me what they are doing, why and how I can perform certain maintenance tasks myself. They also have always been able to get me on their schedule without any issues.

From Lisa who answered the phone and scheduled my service call to Mike the service technician who did the repairs, Indoor Weather was prompt and professional. Several years ago I encountered Steve Berry, technician for Indoor Weather, while part of a home warranty program. While I no longer use the warranty program, I was so pleased in the past that I returned to Indoor Weather. I'm glad of it, and I will continue to use this company. This was a simple check up for AC / heat system operation. Again, Steve performed the work and was not only knowledgeable, he was efficient and explained every step of the process. He indicated what he was seeing on measurements, what that meant, etc. He is a true professional. Prompt, efficient, well-priced, good service.

I think Roy's hands were tied by the warranty company not wanting to get the warranty work done that was required of them. It was not his fault specifically, but the fact that this company would stoop to low levels such as "doing whatever can be done to avoid performing warranty services" is inexcusable. Indoor Weather Professionals' license is also about to expire, from what I can see on the TX Dept of Licensing and Regulation. They're going to want to re-think exactly what they are licensed to do.
Description of Work: Roy was sent out to repair our A/C by our home warranty company, Allied Home. He came out promptly, had a look at the upstairs furnace, took apart the fan motor, and let us know his findings. All of it had to do with damage to the motor and the module due to a power surge. We asked how that could have damaged only a fan motor inside the A/C system, without something happening to other electronics plugged in to the walls upstairs or in the house. Lightning strikes are very random but if it was a power surge, it would have likely done more damage to the other electronics and appliances, which it did not. He just said that it was an "act of God" and was insistent that the Allied Home Warranty did not cover this kind of thing. Quotes for prices for the fan motor replacement were out of this world. $1,100 - $1,998 is close to the cost for an entirely new HVAC system...all just to replace a fan motor! He did not document that "act of God" reason on the form he gave us, only having it state that "the variable speed motor is out on fan coil." Several other HVAC personnel who have looked at that same system in our house have let us know that under no circumstances can any HVAC certified person with any number of years of experience correctly and accurately make this diagnosis, and dismiss any damage to a fan motor as simply an "act of God" or due to a "power surge." It is unbelievable that a fan motor costs this much to replace, particularly considering that they can go out or bad at any time, and there are other parts of the HVAC system, such as the compressor or the condenser, that don't even cost that much to replace. I am not sure where Indoor Weather Professionals obtains its HVAC parts, but somewhere between the manufacturer, the distributor, and the contractor, the customer (me) is looking at several severely huge amounts of price mark-up. This is completely wrong and unethical and we will not pay that much for any fan motor or motor of any kind that turns on the A/C in our house. I think the diagnosis made was improper, rushed, and thoroughly inaccurate to the point of being a bare-faced lie to avoid having to do warranty work. His hands may have been tied because I am sure Allied Home Warranty told him to come up with any kind of reason so they would not have to honor their agreement with us that the A/C would be fixed, not diagnosed or "tuned up" and estimates provided. I will be filing a complaint against Indoor Weather Professionals and against Allied Home Warranty with the BBB and the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.

Response from Indoor Weather Professionals
I am very sorry to hear of your latest expericence with Indoor Weather Professionals. We strive to acheive 100% satisfaction from our customers. I had the opportunity to speak with Roy regarding this matter. He informed me that your system has a variable speed motor which are module controlled motors that can run at variable speeds based on the humidity setting on the thermostat. This makes the motor cost far greater than your average single speed motor. Roy said that the control module on the motor was completely burned up, which is an indication of a surge. Roy called this into your home warranty and gave them the diagnosis. They determined that a surge, which was likely caused by the lightening storms we received the week your unit went down, was the reason for the damage to your motor, not normal wear and tear that they cover. Roy did not charge you the $60 fee required to be collected at the time of service by your warranty company, but instead gave you a free diagnosis. We are tied to the terms of your contract with the home warranty company just as you are. We are honest and faithful to that contract just as we were to you. I know that additional costs is not what home warranty customers want to hear. Because of this, we do our best to discount the uncovered items. Our Texas contractors license expires at the end of July every year. The license holder is required to take 8 hours of continuing education to renew every year and this information is submitted to the TX Dept of Licensing. Our license will show a expiration date of 7/13 when they update their website. Our company is also NATE (North American Technician Excellence) certified and a factory authorized dealer for Bryant products.

They put their foot through my kitchen ceiling which had just been newly refinished while they were in my home giving me an estimate. They sent a repair person over who was prompt and nice, but I had to have it touched up again afterwards. The guy they sent over was not able to blend it as well as I hoped. They told me my furnace was leaking gas and I needed to replace it when no one else told me that.

OK, let me just say WOW!! I couldn't be happier!! Gary was fantastic!! The service cost was more than reasonable, on time and exactly what we needed. We have definitely found our only a/c & appliance repair company! Thanks!!!
Description of Work: We had our pre-summer check-up/tune-up on both of our A/C units. I've actually turned the A/C to a higher temp because it's cooling so much better. Love that! In the same trip...love that time saver...Gary repaired our dryer (the heating coil had gone bad), cleaned out the lint build up in the dryer housing (and determined the source of the leak of lint into the housing) AND cleaned the dryer vent from the wall connection to the end of the vent (exterior vent exit). Never knew you should have that done every two years, so it was bad!! But he did a fantastic job!!

It took three groups of technicians with trainees in tow to diagnose the problem, break an additional component while installing the replacement board, and then come back to fix the extra bit they broke off. Two months later, the board was replaced again, but this time it was covered under warranty. We don't know if the new replacement board works or not yet since winter was pretty much over by then. The technicians that did arrive to do the work were prompt and polite. But, I really do wonder about the trainees who broke other parts of our system while trying to fix the real problem.
