Independent Propane Company

At the last delivery, they left a bill for $3.35 per gallon. When I called around, other companies were charging around $2.40 - $2.50 per gallon. I did not find anyone who quoted a price as high as the price they charged us - a long-time customer. They did reduce the price to $2.79 per gallon when I called to complain. I spoke to a Vice President with the company, but got no satisfactory explanation for why they were charging so much above what seemed to be the going rate. His only excuse was that we could have, in the summer, paid a fee to lock in a lower price for the year, but we did not want a locked-in price; we just wanted to pay the market price at the time of delivery. Apparently the only way to be sure you are paying the market price is to avoid the "keep full" service and call for your delivery when needed, checking around to find the provider that offers the lowest price. I think we were paying what I call the stupid people price. It seems that if they think you aren't paying attention and they can take advantage of you, they will.
