FURNITURE IN THE RAW

We purchased a queen size murphy bed, no shelves. The bed was professionally installed and we are very pleased with the quality and functionality. We highly recommend spending the extra money on an all wood bed and Furniture in the Raw has the best selection in Austin.

They're honest, a little expensive but this is the one we really like.

In the past 18 months, we have visited Furniture in the Raw multiple times to get furniture for our new house. We had looked at many furniture stores in Austin, but hadn't found any pieces in lighter toned wood and Craftsman/Mission-style that would match our Craftsman bungalow style house. Most furniture stores seem to limit their selections to the dark and bulky or metal and leather furniture currently in style. So we decided to find unfinished pieces and have them custom stained. Since then, we have gotten a desk, office table, dresser, end tables, desk, bench, and a console at Furniture in the Raw. Each visit, the sales staff has been super nice and helpful, whether I purchased a piece of furniture that trip or not. They have a marvelous way to select stains. They have a board with pieces of actual woods from the different species of trees used by their manufacturers stained with each of the stain colors available. I was amazed at how different the same color of stain looked on the different types of wood. The board samples were much easier to choose from than the little photographed swatches in the furniture catalogs. The final pieces were the perfect color, beautifully finished, and look great. But the reason I decided to finally write a review was the outstanding sales service that we received today. We went back today to get a dining room table because the butterfly leaf in our old table thst we had brought from our previous house in another city had jammed, leaving a gap in the top of the table. My favorite salesperson, "Mr Bill" Colburn, showed my husband and me tables from three different manufacturers, explaining the differences in price and selection options (table edge and leg/pedestal styles). But before we made the final selection, he suggested that we check something on our existing table. Even though the table had been bought years ago from another company in another city, he showed us how to check the side wings of the butterfly leaf and suggested that we might want to go home and check if that caused the jam before purchasing a replacement table. Sure enough, it was a simple fix once we knew what to look for. So we decided not to get a new table today. My husband and I were amazed - you just don't get that kind of service these days. You can be sure that we will be back here for all our future wood furniture purchases. And Angie's List gives me the opportunity to spread the word on their honest, helpful staff...

They have your Oak and Pine and all these different kinds of furniture that you can come in and buy and they stain it for you and deliver it, they are absolutely wonderful. We had gone in and purchased some armoires and those people held on to that furniture for us for four months and we had the rest of the balance to pay for, they didn't bug us at all. They were wonderful. You can't get any better, I have never had a negative experience with them. The are professional, they do excellent work. they bend over backwards to provide good customer service. Every single person in that store, they are just wonderful. I have nothing but good things to say about them. They will delivery your furniture where ever you want. I had them put it in the storage unit. They were just wonderful to us. I am going to go back. They want you to come back. They bend over backwards, they really do. They take it and they stain it, the stain is really nice, and then when they deliver it they wrap it up, that was a positive. They are very careful with their products. I used them years ago and because I was satisfied years ago, I went back and used them again. And like I said, I will be going back to use them again this month and use them again. They have excellent customer service.

I purchased three pieces of furniture from this store. The look of them was what I expected, the quality was much lower. Some joints were nailed but not glued, the book shelves bowed within days of having actual books on them, and large portions of the paint grade plywood came apart when painted.
