Fox Service Company

Fox Services came out to my house and did alot of work in my home that I was very pleased with. The heavy duty outlet they put in for the oven, it ended up to be alot of work because they had to run a wire into the breaker box. They put in this box to control the light and fan. Its a transmitter and its wireless. It is just wonderful. I had asked for them to try and put the fan and light in seperately with a double box. They came to me with the idea about the transmitter that it would be easier to use and less expensive.The wireless transmitter they put in is great and easy to use. He was very efficient. The supervisor called to make sure everything was running properly and I told him about the gentleman who came out and talked things over with me. He got done with everything quickly and was just great.

Fox Service Company determined where the air registers were best located when they installed the system. They did a good job of installing the system with a minimum of disruption to our home and our lives. The installation team was very personable. They cleaned up very well and left our home in good condition. I was particularly impressed that they put down padding on our wood floors to keep from damaging them while they were coming in and out during the installation. The company was very responsive in adjusting the airflow speed, which was blowing too strongly for our comfort. Initially, there was a glitch in the new system, but they found the problem and fixed it. The service manager, Tom Riggs, was very helpful in assuring that we were happy with all aspects of the installation and service. We graded the price as a "B" because it was not a "bargain" but, in fact, the price was comparable with other bids that we had gotten for an equivalent system. We chose Fox Service Co. over the other companies because a neighbor in our old neighborhood was a Fox HVAC technician, and we were very impressed with his professionalism and level of integrity as a neighbor. This level of professionalism is consistent with other Fox technicians that have come to our home. I like that we can request a specific technician to service our system when we find one that we really like.

The girl that did the electrical work was very knowledgeable and did a great job, but I felt that their prices were too high.

The man that did the plumbing work didn't seem to be very knowledgeable, and he put a dent in the dishwasher. I felt their prices were too high.

They have good reputation and I would recommend them to others.

Job was a small one, and virtually all the charge consisted of the mandatory minimum service charge-but this is unavoidable. Work was correctly done, on time and professional.

They did a great job when they came out. They were very helpful in the sense that they told me that I did not need any service at the time. They were out on time and they were great.

We have used them for years and we love them. They are reasonable and dependable and they give us a discount if you sign up for regular fall and spring check ups. They are good and well trained technicians.

I called around to get a quote for a plumber to come and look at the leak in the garbage disposal. Fox Service had the lowest initial service price. After the plumber got there, he suggested a replacement of the garbage disposal. Problem was, Fox only carries 1 and it costs $318 dollars. An average garbage disposal is $80 - $150 so I was quite floored by that price quote. Given the emergency and the time to call another plumber I had to go with that model. I wish he had different grades of garbage disposals as my unit is merely a rental.

I am a new subsciber to Angie's List and needed a small plumbing problem fixed so I went to the A companies within 10 miles of my house. Fox was the A company within five miles with the most responses so I called them one day they were able to come out the next morning early I was happy. They arrived 30 minutes after I expected them, but after looking at my water leak outside which I had dug up and located it needed a piece of PVC replaced they gave me a quote of $320.00 for a job that would take 30 minutes. I questioned the high price and was told it is a flat rate for an outside leak end of report. I was also needing a AC system check, but that required a seperate appointment so I decided not to go with them after my plumbing experience.

The price listed is per year. They always respond promptly. Their service technicians are always very clean and mindful of coming into the house. I recommended them to a neighbor yesterday.

Overall, Fox Services were very polite and professional. They were on time, and I would defiantly use this company again.

I called Fox a week ago to make an appt with them. They confirmed with me that I was the first appt on Monday, July 20th. I went to the house to wait for them and when they did not show I called and was made to sit on hold for what seemed like a really long time, only to be told that my service tech had worked 20 hours YESTERDAY and would not be showing. They were supposed to call me but did not. I drove 20 miles to this house just to have to turn around and come home. Now I have to hire another electrician!

It was very good because they were professional and came in on time. They did the job as specified and within the estimate. They were personable and friendly as well.

During the twelve years I have owned the house, the handles failed to shut off water periodically, and periodially I called another plumbing comany to make repairs which never were effective. The last time, that plumber said he could not get the stems off, because they were fused in, and that the next leak would require that I have tiles removed. I called Fox, and the plumber James Perez showed me that the stems could be removed easily after some minor work on the tiles was done. He did the work with great care, showing me the progress step-by-step. The price was about half of what I would have paid for the major job the other plumber recommended. Removing and replacing tiles would have been an additional cost.

They were prompt and their service was good. They repaired my toilet and even gave me tips on what to look for in case of any leaks in the future. The checked out a leak in my dishwasher and gave me recommendations on who to call to have that repair made. Fox Service Company also does electrical and HVAC work as well. It's good to know I have a good company to call if I need any of these services in the future.

Woke up Saturday morning to a leaking water heater. Checked Angie's List & decided to give Fox a call. They had a technician here in an hour. He even called when he was on his way over. This was emergency service. Roger, the technician, could not fix the old water heater but it was 12 years old. He drained it while we went to Home Depot & bought a new one. Roger installed it & probably spent a good 4 hours here. Then another person from Fox came (Rick) to pick up the old water heater. Both of these techs were great! We were extremely pleased with the service & the price.

We had an electrical fire and lost all power in our house. We didn't know who to call, so we called Fox since it was a large company and we figured they could respond quickly. That they did, and I appreciated the fact they were able to show up same day. However, a job they originally said would take half a day turned into two and a half days. And because I was concerned about someone who was able to respond so quickly (I had previously called a number of recommended electricians to have a new line run outside and all were booked 1 to 2 weeks out), I arranged to have one of those electricians come in a few weeks after the accident to check things out. While he confirmed the breaker boxes were essentially safe, a number if things weren't right. An odd panel was installed above one of the breaker boxes and he didn't know why it was necessary; no junction boxes were installed in the attic after it was noted they were missing and we requested them; the seal on the meter was broken without a permit from the city, just to name a few things. Plus, when I asked how long and how much this job would have been had I used the second electrician (without telling him any details about Fox), he said half a day and $900. BOTTOM LINE - I felt that because Fox knew the job was going to be covered by insurance, they padded the job to maximize the insurance pay out, and did not do everything we expected.

We called them at 8AM and they were here within a few hours. The plumber was very efficient and personable.

Okay except he did not do the job he said he was going to do.

Both employees were timely, courteous, and efficient. Both jobs were done well.

Great, on time, did what they said they were going to do.

I would rather not hire them again just because of the price. It's a great company but just pricey.

I was extremely disappointed with Fox. No one informed me in advance that Fox charged to come out to give an estimate. I had two other electrical companies out to bid on the same job and neither of them charged anything at all and both gave complete estimates. I asked why I wasn't informed when I called that there would be a charge just to come out to give an estimate; no explanation was given. In addition, when the man gave me the estimate, he also told me I would have to go buy the copper wire to be used in the job, that the estimate did not include copper wire and that I would be responsible for finding and buying the copper wire he would need. This flabbergasted me. It seemed to me that the estimate should have included everything. I asked why the copper wire wasn't included in the estimate and he said because it was so expensive. This truly did not make any sense to me. I will never have Fox out to make an estimate again.

We picked Fox Service out of the Yellow Pages because our heater went out in the middle of some of the coldest days last winter. The service tech arrived when he was scheduled, inspected the heater, and determined the blower motor had seized beyond repair. He tried to fix it temporarily, including taking it outside in the freezing temps to try and free it up, so we could have a Little heat, but nothing worked. Although we had to wait two days for the new motor because it was a special order, Fox was very timely about installing it ASAP once it arrived. Additionally, the actual cost was about $100 less than the estimate. We have also used Fox Service twice to repair a very old AC unit at a rent house. Once again, the tech was timely and proficient and the cost was very fair. We were told by one of the technicians that Fox is the last (and only) major service Romany in Austin that still hires its own employees. They do not use sub-contractors.
