Fox Service Company

Referred from Mr. Appliance....see above...really p***** me off. (Updated, 6/10/10) By the time it was straightened out, job had been done by another. Still, I'm impressed they took the issue seriously, acknowledged the problem, and did the best they could to resolve the complaint.

It went pretty well and hopefully the dirty coils were our main problem. I was disappointed that cleaning the coils cost $80 over and above the service visit and system check. But I approved it before he did it. He used a spray can of cleaner and washed it down with the garden hose, taking about 20 minutes in the process.

The plumber came out on the Saturday. It was one of the emergency situations. We are in this house for the last 15 years. They have installed the heating and air conditioning system for us. They also have worked on the hot water heater, electrical stuff, etc. We have used them for the last 15 years. I never had any problem with them. When they installed the heating and air conditioning system every year for the next 3 years the heater was blowing something out when it was switched on. In the third year the heating people came out and finally they were able to track down the problem. The fuse wasn’t big enough. It was a trying thing. It was something wrong with UNIX but they didn’t bother about it. The guys are very professional. The plumbers always look like plumbers. The price is high but they have to come from Austin. They come out when we call. Their technicians call me when they are on their way. It’s better than the cable companies. They have always done a good job for us.

Called for an emergency water heater replacement and requested estimate prior to doing the work. got an estimate that was $300 more than I expected. I asked for a breakdown of labor vs. materials and never recieved it. I authorized the work, which was a big mistake. The bill cam in at $100 higher than the over the phone estimate. I called Fox repeatedly and have not heard back from them. I will never use them again.

Overall, I was satisfied with the services and I would use them again if needed.

I have used them in the past. They are a great company. I got a rebate for updating my old air conditioner, when I last used them. I like them because they always do good work. They are always very professional. They had installed an air conditioner in my previous house and they were very good.

I am on a contract with them for service. I think I started using them when they installed the unit. They don't always come real promptly, but it has never been a problem, because I have never needed them to. I am on what they call a priority one service. Hopefully if I had a major problem they would come quickly.

They have quality staff, communicate well, and do a great job of follow up after the work is completed. They also clean up after themselves well, which I really appreciate. I could find someone cheaper, but not a better service.

They did not respond to numerous phone calls and a letter asking to repair the damage they caused to cancel the service contract.

They always call or email to let me know when my next service is due. Their prices are fairly high, however they have been able to provide me with quality service. They are always responsive to my needs and they send someone out quickly.

We had leakage in our garage. They determined that it was in fact the water heater. James, was the service technician that came out. We discussed having a tankless water heater installed, but determined it was not the best fit for our home. They flushed the system through out our house to clear sediment. They were able to work around our schedules. They were very professional and informative, especially James. They had to come back the next day to finish up, but they worked diligently to complete the project and stuck to the original estimate.

They are very professional, timely service, and outstanding customer service. They also did great hvac work for me.

I called during the lunch hour and left a voice message. My call was promptly returned less than 10 min later and the serviceman was at my door in less than an hour! He was polite and offered to vacuum up afterwards.

Fox may be a terrible company focused on marketing and not on customer service. They have not responded to numerous calls and a letter. They only reponded four months later after we protested the charge to Visa.

The technician was prompt and courteous, discovered the problem within 15 minutes. He had to leave to get the replacement part. When he returned he had the breaker replaced in 15 minutes and everything cleaned up.

I have emphysema and I cannot stand the heat, so when my air conditioner started acting up I called Fox Service right away. I called them to come out on Sunday afternoon and they were out within the hour to check everything out. After he checked everything the service gentleman told me what would need to be done to repair it and told me that it would cost more to repair it than to replace it, because of how old it was. So I decided to go ahead and replace it. They came out first thing Monday morning to replace my air conditioner. They went above and beyond the call of duty. Because of my medical condition they dropped everything and put me at the front of the list in order to help me.

They put the wrong tonnage in the house. They also did not do the installation properly. I tried to resolve it with them but failed. The crew who came out was arrogant and was not willing to resolve the problem. They also told me that I did not know what I was talking about and made me feel stupid. So I had to hire another company to resolve the problem, and they redid the entire system.

Good. They gave me a four hour window (8-12) and said they would call 30 minutes ahead; but he showed up right at 8 with no 30 minute warning. (Is that punctual? I can't decide...) He definitely knew his job - the problem was that the electrical outlets on the back porch mysteriously worked for a while, then didn't, then did, etc. I couldn't find a breaker that controlled them. He determined that those outlets had been tied in to the GFCI outlet in a bathroom on the other side of the house! (I had no idea they did that kind of "short cut" but he knew enough to look for it, and it is apparently an accepted practice.) This way, the outside outlets piggy back on the GFCI protection of the outlet in the bathroom. Further inspection of THAT outlet showed the netural wire was loose. (This also explained they the nightlight in the bathroom wasn't working, inspite of having a new bulb.) He fixed the wire, then upsold me a $50 inspection of the breaker panel to see if anything else was loose. Seemed like a good use of $50 since I had him on site, and he knew what he was doing. He did find a few things loose, and he reported some deficiencies of my electrical system that had already been reported to me in the house inspection when I bought it (further confirming his competency).

The existing heater dated from 1990. A two-man crew built a platform and pan for the heater, installed a fifty-gallon Rheem heater, ran two pipes to the outside for leakage and pressure release, which involved drilling through the garage wall and through the outside brick. They did an extremely neat and professional job.

It took quite a bit of work to remove the toy from the line. They cleaned up their mess afterwards and didn't leave me any problems. They stayed within the estimate that they provided. They were clean within the house. They put on little booties while they were at work. They were punctual.

I did some research before Fox arrived. When they got to my home Fox assessed the source of the water heater leak and explained why I needed a new one. They explained my options based on prevailing codes and gave me an estimate. They then went and called for a bigger crew and brought the new water heater, uninstalled and hauled off the old water heater, and installed a new water heater, bringing it up to code in the process.

I have a contract with them, and everything has been fine. There is some variation in the skill sets of the technicians, but I have been pleased enough that I have stayed with them.

The first estimate I received did not reflect the fact that a lot of electrical work was required. The company decided, on their own, that I should not be charged for the electrical work because it should have been included in the original bid. The electrician spent about a day and one half correcting problems in the way the old water heaters were wired.

They were very professional, on time, and always cleaned up the area after they were finished. The work has always been very good and we would highly recommend them.

They did and excellent job and they showed up when they said they would and if they can't make it they will call you and let you know. They are a little price. I like them a lot because they can do about anything you need them to do and they are very knowledgable. They are very affiant and very polite and very helpful when asking questions. I really have nothing but good things to say about this company. I will continue to use them.
