Floor King Carpet One Floor & Home

My wife and I decided we needed to replace our existing downstairs floors due to pets wear and tear. I had heard good things about Floor King and met with Troy, salesman, to discuss our options. At no point did Troy try to sell me on anything more than I wanted. We knew we wanted a laminated wood floor that would last and we had a budget in mind. Troy suggested a few options, told me to take the samples home, and come back when I was ready. We liked one of the samples immediately and wanted to get the process going quickly. Turns out Troy was leaving for an extended vacation the next week, but he never rushed us to make a decision. We returned the next day to talk through the process and to secure the down payment. Once again, Troy never pushed us on upgrades, he simply talked us through the options we had and the differences. Allowing us to decide for ourselves and at our speed. Troy came by our home to do an exact measurement and noticed that we would need new floorboards. Basically, our floorboards were not going to work with the new floors, due to the floated floors we were installing. Troy quickly gave us options to replace and a price to match. He provided a checklist of what we needed to do prior to the installation and what his team would be responsible for, super handy. At this point, we were convinced and proceeded to set up a schedule for the installation. Steve, the installer, showed up on time and was ready to rock. He was the lone installer, so the job did take longer than expected (3.5 days instead of 2.5), but he did an awesome job. He was very thorough in his communication of next steps and goals per day. He even took into consideration that we had to have our sink and toilet for our downstairs bathroom reinstalled, therefore he made sure that area was completed once the plumbers arrived. He was very clean and made sure to not leave our garage or downstairs area in shambles at the end of the day. He even helped me move a few things around after he was finished. Steve was extremely professional and a pleasure to work with. In the end, this entire process was as smooth as we could have ever imagined. And our floors are absolutely fantastic! I can not recommend Floor King + Troy enough!

It went very well. They came when they said they were coming. They finished when they said they would be finished. The job was done. People who came were very nice and very competent.

Was looking for engineered wood flooring to install (myself) in two bedrooms at home. Went to several flooring dealers, but decided on Floor King. The floor staff at the S. Lamar location was very helpful in finding a suitable manufacturer and style of wood, and they were able to get the flooring delivered to Austin quickly. Their pricing was competitive for the floor itself, and very good for the underlayment materials. I went to their shipping warehouse in north Austin to pick the material up, and the staff there was very proactive in helping me get the material loaded and on my way. They were also polite and professional to a degree I have not seen in a long time. I would definitely do business with them again.

We worked with Ethel Roe at the south location. When we first went to the store Ethel was very helpful without being "pushy" in discussing options and pricing. She called and came by the following day as she had agreed to measure the area and offered a number of suggestions to control the cost. She provided an estimate the next day. We accepted the estimate and scheduled the work. The installers arrived on the scheduled days and performed the work without any problems. They seemed very professional and were accommodating to our needs. The vinyl installers even went out of their way to offer us some minor options in matching up colors without affecting the cost. We are pleased with the work.

Ethel, the salesperson, was very helpful in explaining the carpet materials and options. She based her quote on measurements taken a couple of years ago. The total area on the contract seemed high to me, but I signed it anyway. She could tell that I was a little troubled, and she promised to review the calculations. She followed through and reduced the invoice by about 5%. She assured me that the installers would screw down the squeaking flooring boards upstairs, and those instructions were plainly written on their work order. However, the installers didn't have any wood screws, so I provided them with some 2-inch nails. They were more than willing to tighen down the boards, but I was disappointed in their capability to handle that issue. The installers did a beautiful job installing the pad and carpet, and they were reasonably careful moving the furniture. A headboard broke apart in the moving process, but that was partly due to poor design of the bed.

They were terrific and got everything down in one pice which was a difficult task, but the customer service was head above the rest. We will be using in the future as well!

The overall experience was a mixed bag. The sales staff were unresponsive, both at the show room and at promised follow ups on the phone. We had to practically pull teeth to get anything finished. The job was completed. The workers were fast and clean, there were a few mistakes but small in nature and we just let those go.

We had to replace the carpet in our house due to water damage. We contacted Phil at Floor King since they were one of the prefered vendors for our insurance. Phil came out and measured for the insurance company and then I went to the showroom to look at carpet. the entire time I felt like I was pulling teeth!. Phil appeaaed uninterested and rude. I told Phil that wer were seeking other bids for the carpt and would be making a decision within a week. I made sure he had my phone number and email so he could send me the bid on three differetn carpet samples I chose. One week came and went with no response from Phil so I called. I never received a returned call and never received a bid! I guess $8,000.00 of carpet sales does not interest Floor King. It was such a waste of time and energy. There are plenty of carpet stores in austin so don't waste your time on Floor King...very rude.

I had an insurance claim, and my insurance company referred me to Floor King/Carpet One. Phillip L. was my main point of contact. He has been very helpful and has provided a fabulous customer service experience. He came out to the house and sketched the entire house. He also gave me a very good idea of the process to expect; the amount of time it might take for the insurance company to determine the quality/grade of flooring, as well as the what to expect along every step of the way. As soon as I paid my amount owed, the materials were ordered and install scheduled. The kitchen installation crew did a very thourough and professional job, taking obvious pride in their work. They arrived about 1/2 hour late, but called to let me know they were on their way. The carpet crew arrived two days later, as scheduled. They worked very quickly, and even took the time to tack down boards that were loose and creaking. thely were so courteous to even ask if it was ok to play their radio upstairs while they worked.Hope I never have to do this again, but if I do, I will use Floor King/Carpet One.

My wife and I are getting ready to put our house on the market. We've had friends that have had good experiences with the North Floor King location so we thought we'd give them a try. We have consistently been ignored or stood up by the sales staff at the South location. And when I say stood up I mean several times the last one being a scheduled measuring session at our house last night. The two biggest offenders being Craig and Ethal. We did move forward with the kitchen tile install (last October) and got that completed, but not without a lot of prompting on our part. The installers ran out of tile, went back to the store, got the wrong tile and installed it anyways! I had to call someone at the North store to handle the problem, which they did promptly and professionally. Overall the experience with the South store has been very frustrating. We have two bathrooms and a backsplash to finish and it looks like we will be going to a different company to complete the work.

Would recommend them highly.

The service provider was one of 4 companies I called in for bids. They provided the most options as well as the most reasonable bid. Their guys were there promptly on time, and got the job done. The place looks good. If I had a complaint - you might want to turn the volume on the ranchero music down just a tad.

I checked out tile samples at Floor King on S. Lamar Blvd. to have three bathrooms re-tiled at my home, as well as my entry hall and fireplace surround. A sales rep from Floor King came to my house and measured a few days later. I gave him both of my phone numbers (office and home), and asked that he leave me a message regarding the estimate. After three (3) days, I called the store to inquire about the estimate. I then decided to check out additional tile samples since I wasn't sure about the tile I selected for the entry hall and fireplace. The sales rep then set up an appointment with me for Saturday, May 7th at the store to select the grout for my tile projects and finalize the order. I arrived on Saturday and returned my tile samples and selected the grout. However, to my surprise, the sales rep asked if he could "get back to me" on the cost estimate and would call me within the hour. I told him I would be out running errands and he could leave a message on my home phone. I never received a call from him that day, nor on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday. I finally went out Wednesday afternoon and picked out tile with another company. Finally, on Friday, May 13th, I arrived home from the office only to receive a voice mail message on my phone from the sales rep at Floor King indicating that he had to go out of town and "sorry that he hadn't called me for the estimate". Not only did he wait a week to call me back, but he had the gall to ask me in his voice mail message if I could "go over the order with him again because he wasn't sure it was correct". NO, I would not use Floor King for any carpet or tile job in the future. It was a big waste of my time. The sales rep didn't seem very interested or engaged in any way with my project. I went elsewhere and had a much more professional experience!

They gave me one quote when I went in. They had somebody come out to do the actual measurements. I think they upsold me some, because I wasn't going to have the closets done. I ended up buying extra carpet. They weren't there when I went in to do the walk-through. That's the part that I didn't like. I did like that they got somebody out here quickly. The carpet came just in time for me to have painters come in afterward.

The flooring work was for my wife’s office which is in our attic. The job was done very well in the end. There was a need to call them back once, but they were anxious to take care of things. They did care for the work done, even though they didn’t get everything right initially. They were competitive in terms of their pricing. I would hire them again in the future.

Ethel works hard to give consumers what they want and need.

The person I had dealt with during the previous flooring installation was supposed to get back to me but didn't for almost a week. I later found out it was due to illness and an impending surgery. It would have been nice if she had immediately handed the job to the other person, instead it put us about a week behind, but it all worked out OK in the end. The installers were over an hour late and failed to bring the metal threshold plates that were needed. However, once there, they began working (one guy went back to pick up the plates) and knocked it out quickly. The job was done to my satisfaction and was finished on schedule.

I chose this company for this service because they had done other work for me in the past. I have always had good luck with them. The corners are done properly and the finish on the hard wood floor is excellent. On the carpet, it seems to be very tightly installed. I am also pleased with the quality of their products.

I spent a fair amount of time shopping for hardwood floors. I took some samples from Floor King home to look at. They have a great showroom with a variety of flooring options. Ethel, the salesperson, kept telling me to not worry too much about price. She said that I should find one I like, then she'd find a similar one in that price range. I finally decided on one, so we talked price. Of course, it was much more than I had anticipated. So, I did some comparison shopping. Since Ethel had spent so much time with me, I asked her to come down on her price some to meet the competition. She was unwilling to come down, and her price was nearly double what others were charging for the exact same model of floor!

These guys were very skilled and they were very helpful right from the start, they explained the price, how long it would take to finish the job, and they were right on schedule. The floor looked wonderful and there were not any warped boards, the floors didn't squeak either and everything was perfect.
