Fine Line Remodeling

Our remodeling project with Fine Line Remodeling was on the schedule and ready to start. Then we emailed Jason, asking how the permitting process works. We are removing a load baring walls and doing a lot of electrical and plumbing work, so permits would obviously be required. Jason's emailed response was simply to quit, leaving us without a contractor after having committed over $25,000 to get the project going. After dodging our calls all day we finally got him to elaborate on why he quit after we asked about permits. He explained that HE WILL NOT TAKE A JOB IF IT INVOLVES PERMITTING. He wanted to remove load bearing walls from our home without permits. So we asked if he would take the job if we were to agree to do it illegally and he said, "Oh, then I am your man." Naturally, this was worrisome. I asked him that if we agreed to do this illegally, as he was requiring, could he please communicate his needs better in the future, rather than just quitting. Nightmare scenarios were playing out in my head of getting halfway into the project and having Jason quit on us again because something halfway displeasing happened. His response was to QUIT AGAIN. This time saying "this isn't a good fit". If you are looking for an unprofessional prima-donna who refuses to do legal work, then Jason "is your man".

Walls & doors went up very quickly and to a good standard. Excellent work on moldings and generally all the wood work. Walls & woodwork were painted and finished to a very high standard. Jason's is very proficient at what he does and work was completed in a timely manner at a fair price.

I hired Jason based on a recommendation from my cabinet installer. I ended up disappointed due to problems with the work that he was unwilling or unable to fix. For instance a soffit was rebuilt two inches out of level, new ceiling fan wiring didn't work, a new GFCI didn't protect, appliances installed crooked, etc. After several mostly-unsuccessful rounds of requests, I finally ended up paying other contractors to fix his work.

They were wonderful. They were very prompt and on time. They did the job in 2 days. They were really good and I am getting ready to call them to do some masonry work in the backyard and fence line. He was really good. We have even recommended him to someone else. They put a door from the garage going to the backyard so that we don't have to go out through the fence. They installed the door and we have a rock house and so they had to do masonry work. It was like building a house for us. He not only gave us the best price but he said he would be there at 9 and he and his crew were there. They unloaded the truck to get everything done and they were quick and efficient.

They replaced the wood, refinished it and put water proofing down.

They did an incredibly great job, they were easy to deal with and I would use them again. They were much cheaper than everyone else.

Amazing... I posted my job details in Craigslist and received 10 responses in less than two hours. The e-mail from Jason Hayes stood out among all of them due to his professionalism, courtesy, and fair price. He had enough information to give me an estimate via email, but just to be sure we set up a time (7:30am-8am) the following morning for him to come by to look. Jason and his partner Andrew showing up 15 minutes early (not a problem!) and called me from the truck. I showed them around the site, and he and Andrew went back to their truck to discuss the bid. I had their bid within just a few minutes - Andrew wrote it out, line-itemed, and signed it. I asked for a couple references, and he gave them to me right there on the spot. I spoke with both references, and they were both exceptionally happy with their work. They complimented their work, as well as their professionalism and character. Both said they trusted them enough to give them the keys to their house for the duration of the job. I called Jason back that afternoon and told him we had a deal. He dropped by later that day to pick up the first half of the payment. Work began the next morning (today) right on time. I left them a list of extra to-do's (stapling a couple loose pieces of insulation, adding a couple more, etc...) and they took care of that no problem. Jason and Andrew worked all day until around 8pm. They had made great progress by the time I made it home (around 6pm) and continued to work until 8pm. Their work is great. Their attention to detail is superb, and their personalities, character, and work ethic are among the best I've ever come across. I'm trying to think up new projects for them, just because I'm so thrilled to have found such great gentlemen. These guys have proven to me that you can have both reasonable prices and exceptional work.
