Health and safety are always our highest priority. In light of COVID-19, we are taking extra measures -- including social distancing and increased PPE/sanitation procedures -- to protect the health of our community and team as we continue to provide service. In short, you can expect the same great service but with some modifications for the protection of all involved. We are a local, family-owned business that has been serving the greater Austin area since 1976. Over the last 40+ years, we have built a reputation for providing high-quality, comprehensive HVAC, electrical and plumbing service. We employ experienced, full-time technicians and don't use subcontractors, so you can expect consistently great quality and service whenever you call us. In addition to receiving extensive training before working independently, all of our technicians must pass a background check, drug test and random drug screening, which many other companies do not require. We hold our employees to the highest standards in order to provide you with the highest level of service. We service and install all brands of air conditioning, but we are proud to be a Carrier Factory Authorized Dealer and a two-time winner of the Carrier President's Award for excellence.

Description of Work: Efficient installed two new units in our house in 2013, and did a great job. We also signed up for twice a year preventive maintenance checks. But they failed in that regard. We discovered mold in the 4-ton unit that was due to failure in the return air plenum that allowed warm ambient air into the system. We contacted Efficient and showed them the pictures of the mold and the plenum failure after we had the system re-mediated. The remediation and repair cost us over $8,000.00 and Efficient, after exchanging numerous emails and stopping communicating with us, has failed to offer any meaningful remuneration. We paid for preventive maintenance and they failed us. We will have to look for an honest HVAC company.

We understand how frustrating it can be to deal with a major system issue such as this. Unfortunately, you did not give us the opportunity to inspect or address the growth before you pursued remediation with another company. You called us after the fact and demanded we reimburse you for the money you spent with them. Further, the documentation you provided to us from the other company indicated the growth was caused by environmental factors -- not a plenum failure or our installation quality. Our service manager came to your property the day after you brought this to his attention and evaluated the equipment cabinets and the work done by the other provider. Because the entire duct system and return plenum had already been repaired/replaced -- and therefore all the evidence of the biological growth had been removed -- our service manager asked you to provide him with any documentation of the growth and its suspected causes. He thoroughly reviewed the photos and reporting from the other company, and we were absolutely prepared to take responsibility if we had caused it. But, as stated above, that is not what the documentation showed. When our service manager asked you why you didn't bring this to our attention beforehand, you said you didn't have time to deal with it because you had family coming in town and needed it taken care of quickly. While we sympathize with your situation, it is not reasonable to expect that we should foot the bill for another company solving a problem you didn't give us an opportunity to address -- and, more importantly, that we didn't cause.

Description of Work: Our a/c unit was running but not cooling, and I called not knowing when we would be able to get someone out, since it's already so hot here, plus we are a new customer. They were able to send Art out the same day and he was awesome. He fixed our unit, which needed a new part, no waiting required, and gave us recommendations for the future. No pushy sales, no feeling like I was being given any kind of wrong information in order to increase the sale. We will definitely use this company from here on out for all maintenance and any further repairs or replacements. Highly recommend them, and Art too.

I'm very happy with the service call with Efficient Air Conditioning. Ernest arrived a little late but he called ahead to let me know. He promptly went to checking the system and quickly isolated the problem to a leaky king valve which tends to be a common area where refrigerant can leak especially on older systems. He recharged the system and there was immediate difference in cooling. It was a split of of about 10 degrees and closer to 20 degrees with the fix. He was very thorough on his explanation and gave me a good idea on my options. The refrigerant recharge will only be a stopgap measure and eventually the leak should be fixed. However, fixing king valves are costly and it may be worth considering a system replacement. Obviously this sounded like an upsell but I had few other tech come out last year and none of them really could pinpoint the problem like Ernest. At any rate, he was knowledgeable and explained the situation really well. I really enjoyed having Efficient AC service the HVAC. If you can, try to get Ernest to come out.

I'd be glad to complete this evaluation in a few months; it's really too soon to be complete at this point. That's why I left a grade off "quality" above. I believe everything has gone very well, but time will tell. At this point, I would definitely recommend them.
Description of Work: Installed three new air conditioning/heating systems. Included some custom alteration of existing peripheral equipment, evaluating appropriate equipment, and some code upgrading.
