Efficient AC, Electric & Plumbing

*** Outstanding Service ***! I made an appointment when their offices opened at 8:00 am. At 9:30 am, a technician called me and told me that he was on the way and would be there in 30 minutes. The technician, Arthur T., arrived at 10:00 am, just like he said he would. He asked me for details about what happened and then went to work. I started to do some on my own paperwork anticipating that this would take a while. After only about 10 minutes, Arthur came and told me that the capacitor on the outside unit had gone out. He had a replacement in his truck. He replaced it and my A/C started blowing cold air again. He did more checks to make sure that my outside compressor and inside unit were not damaged by the capacitor going out, and to see that everything was now working as it should. He found no other damage and problems and started writing up the invoice. I was blown away at how fast everything happened, from making the appointment, to the tech showing up, to the tech fixing my A/C. I am writing this review (with cold air now blowing on me) still in disbelief. The tech, Arthur, clearly has a talent in this field. He was very knowledgeable, very professional, and very fast and efficient. I hope the owner(s) of Efficient Air Conditioning & Electric read this review and know what an asset Arthur T. is to their company!

My experience with Efficient may be due to bad timing. We met with the electrician prior to the work to explain the timeline, as we were doing new siding. When he came out the next week to do the work, he was extremely busy that day and was headed out of town and did not finish our job. He actually left our job to go do another job that day. Came back did what he could before he had to leave. With the siding going on, and the electrical boxes being in place an important part of the mix, it was discouraging. I do not know why Efficient did not bring in someone else to help come finish the job. What I also did not know was that the electrician left with no electricity to all the outside electric boxes. The siding power equipment could only be powered by electric in the garage or house. Therefore, if I had to leave, it was a security issue leaving the house/garage open for their access. So the next morning I called Efficient to have them get someone out to hook up the outside electric. They did respond to my call, thankfully, but the guy they sent to fix the problem was angry about being pulled from his other job. Apparently, there were communication issues and he was told we had no electricity at all. I understand the frustratioon, but his demeanor was unprofessional. He did give us 1 exterior outlet, and went on his way. The first guy came back when he returned to town and finished the job. I am happy that Efficient responded to my request for assistance. I am happy with the end result. I am happy that the electrician saw that the electric outlets outside could/should be recessed. I feel that Efficient management should have scheduled the job better and gotten better coverage to finish the job when the first guy was unable to complete it the first day given my timeline requirements. It just did not feel quite like the company management had everything under control. The bill was also quite high I thought for the work done. Definitely over the quoted amount by a good amount.

Our salesperson Darwin was very professional. He listened to the issues we were having and asked very relevant questions. He presented us with several options and price points for both repairing and replacing our unit, and explained the pros and cons of each option. When we asked about some additional rebate possibilities, he looked into them for us and gave us the details. The technicians that came to install the unit did everything that was promised, as well as a couple of small extra things we requested. They even finished early! They made sure to both protect our carpet and clean up after themselves, and they installed the required extras (like carbon monoxide detectors). In the end, we got great service, and the price we paid was mostly in line with the quotes we'd gotten from other companies. Would definitely use Efficient AC again.

Fantastic service! A+! Jeff S saved the day again! Super professional, responsive, knowledgeable and trustworthy. I have a 23yr old a/c unit for the upstairs in my childhood home. I had some issues with the a/c last summer and Jeff checked out the unit and got it working again. I just got home from a trip today and my a/c unit was blowing warm air. I checked all the basics and couldn't find the problem. I called the company to make an appointment and Michelle and Jeff were able to fit me into their already full schedule. Michelle was very helpful and explained different coupon pricing options. Jeff S showed up within an hour! And got my a/c blowing cold air again. Ahhhmazing! I will probably need to replace my 23 year old a/c unit in the future. When I do, I will definitely go through Efficient Air Conditioning and Electric. Thank you! I am enjoying the cold air for now! The Efficient technician came out to diagnose why my AC had stopped working. He cleared all of the pipes by vacuuming and using a liquid to clear all lines. He restored the system to working condition. After he left the system was not cooling as well as before. He came back to my home the same day and charged the system (not sure if this is the right term) with Freon and it began working great. Even though I live in Belterra, which many Austin companies won't service, there were no additional charges. The technician cleaned up everything when he was finished. Efficient does great work, treats their clients well, and charges reasonable prices. I would recommend them to my family and friends. If you need AC work, they will treat you right.

Ian isolated the circuit. He confirmed that the GFI was dead, by taking it apart and showing me the rust/corrosion. He then tested the pump, and concluded it was also dead (it's about 8 years old and is always under water). He fixed the wiring, the box, etc. This is the second time Ian has been to my home -- he's a wonderful electrician and I recommend him to all.

Initially, I picked this company off of Angie's list because they had an A rating and quite a few positive reviews, however I quickly changed my mind. I requested to have a technician come out to diagnose why my AC system wasn't working after a weather-related power outage. When the technician called he said it would cost $155 just for having him come out to diagnose the problem (first red flag, because their website says $135 diagnostic fee!). I told him there's a coupon on their company website that offers "Free Service Call with AC Repair. Approve the recommended repair during your AC service call, and the diagnostic fee is on us." The technician claimed that they made a mistake and rolled that coupon out early, so they're not honoring that offer yet (second red flag, that's a bull-**** answer that indicates they're not a customer service driven business!). Ultimately I told the technician to forget it, and instead got the name & number of another company from one of my neighbors who had their system replaced last summer. Unfortunately, this company lost my business from the get-go, simply as a result of poor first impression with one of their technicians.

Very professional. They completed the installation in a day and it was a total replacement of an ancient 1970s AC, furnace and duct system. They had to come out a few more times for some minor adjustments after but it has been a month since teh last visit and everything has been working well. I had quotes from several other contractors, but they were either much more expensive or terrible about returning phone calls or showing up for appointments. Efficient Air communicated very well before, during and after the install. Highly recommended.

The on-call person told me what to try and it worked!

The Replacement Specialist Darwin came out in early March and evaluated our current system, then sat down with us and reviewed our options, repair or replace. He explained the City of Austin rebate program and measurements, then provided us with a detailed quote with each option. No pressure, no hard sell. After my research and quoting another vendor, we selected Efficient because of price and total package offered. I called Darwin and we scheduled the install for 3/29 between 8-9 a.m. On 3/29 at 8:00 we received a call they would be there shortly. The install took most of the day, pulling out old units and putting in new. Toward end of install, Adam came (quality inspection), we went over what information he needed to file for city rebate, asked if we had any questions. The installers gave me all the info to register the Carrier unit online, they cleaned up when they were done and left before 5. Adam called me back a few days later, asked for a date city inspector could come (rebate), we booked it. The unit is running fine and quiet. We are awaiting the inspection in May as the city is behind more than a month and assume no problems will occur.

We have used Efficient AC and Electric previously who have always done a fantastic job and what seemed to be reasonable pricing for the work involved. However, after seeing my bill today for installing 8 recessed lights and two bathroom fans, I could not be more unimpressed with how much margin is added to products. The service is fantastic and certainly warrants the appropriate margins added for labor, that in my view backs the workmanship and quality of service. As it relates to the product margins, I am left annoyed and feeling deceived. How on earth does one charge a 35% markup on products that can easily be procured from a store by the consumer at a fraction of the cost, which already is marked up. Products already have warranties and the margin baked into the services cost more than offsets any potential issues. Not to mention this company has insurance which again covers any issues. So in short, I find it absolutely outrages for this company to charge 35% markup on products (in my view 3-5% is more than sufficient and justifiable). Which is not only deceptive but lacks professionalism, which is defined by the behaviors (including but not limited to, integrity, honesty, serving others appropriately, and so on) of a professional/organization. If you want fantastic service use these guys (Ian in particular) but be sure to procure the necessary parts yourself to avoid being suckered like I was.

This was a $139 big deal purchase. I think it was fine and I did not have any issues. They did a good job. I can't remember exactly which project it was. From what I recall they did some decent work.

Efficient Air Conditioning is fantastic! Their staff, from the happy and professional contacts in their office to the fantastic gentlemen who executed the work while providing absolutely wonderful customer service, really made the experience a pleasure. We shall definitely use them in the future as well as recommend them as a great resource for our neighbors' businesses.

The crew came out on time. We were having issues with the AC circuit breaker. They found that water had entered the electrical wiring between the AC unit and the breaker box. They let me know the cost of replacing and once the terms were accepted, they left, got the needed items, came back and had it fixed within a couple of hours. Very professional.

Went great, inspected all issues to see what was a quick repair which saved me money.

Went okay. Had a clog found a week later that was another culprit but that was through home insurance

Ian was fantastic. He was very professional and found ways to better serve me by figuring out what I was trying to accomplish instead of just knocking the job out and leaving. In my case, I was installing a 240g fish tank that required its own circuit because of he electrical load. Ian helped me figure that out along with the location. The only issue I had was that the air conditioner quit working after he left, but I called him and he offered to come back and fix it. However, instead I asked him to walk me through a couple quick troubleshooting steps, which he did and it was back on in no time. I will do business with these folks again when I have more renovation projects.

The provider arrived on time. He was efficient and professional. He performed all the work we had for him to do. We were pleased with his work and would definitely use him again.

They were just okay. I was kind of disappointed. They came out right away but they're supposed to call me back with some more repairs that needed to be done. It was initially fine but after that it was poor. He was on time.

After he replaced a motor, things seemed to be working fine when he left. This was during a cold period. However, after the weather warmed up and got cold again, the heater did not kick in when the temp dropped below my thermostat setting (which is what was happening before). He came back and replaced a relay and the heater came back on again. Hopefully the problem has been resolved.

These guys were great. Two sets of technicians came out to preform the work, one electrical, the other HVAC. They were on time, courteous, and clean. All work was completed quickly and the price was less than expected.

Everything went smoothly. The technician checked both of the inside and outside units and gave tips for efficiency and stretching the life of the units. He did not try to sell me any additional services or replacement units, which I appreciated.

Called 7:15 am on Monday morning, walked into my garage to leave for work, discovered leaking hot water heater. Service was responsive, prompt, identified problem and replaced with a new quality Rheem product. Done with entire job by 11:15 am, so we could get back to work. Very impressed with their responsiveness, efficiency, and quality. Definitely recommend.

They were on time, pleasant, polite, careful, knowledgeable, worked efficiently with my 2 hour deal and cleaned up their mess associated with the job. I will definitely call them soon for other issues. I exceeded my time limit and paid a fare price for extra work.
