Facts: service requested on: 12/24/2020 service commenced on: 12/26/2020 1st check paid on: 12/26/2020 in the amount of $970 2nd check paid on: 12/28/2020 in the amount of $500 both checks cashed on: 12/28/2020 service stopped as incomplete on: 01/04/2021 What Edward Bruton did: 1) He dug out some grass. 2) He put some sandy loam and the weed blocker on top of it. 3) He brought some gravel and one piece of edging material. End results: 1) The grass digging was incomplete and you can visibly see it everywhere. 2) He ran out of the weed blocker. He used a trash bag we gave him to patch it up. 3) The gravel he brought was full of debris and dirt. Even though he measured the length of our front walkaway, the edging he brought was 1 foot short. Summary: He was supposed to complete the project on 01//6/2021. He did not show up. Since then, we called and texted him many times and we have not heard from him. We paid 60% of the fee and he didn't care to show up to finish the project. He never brought a dozen of limestone slabs (2-1.4" thick, 2x4s). As mentioned above, he did such an unprofessional job that we need to start over completely. We hired Ed Bruton because it was recommended by one of the reputable landscape suppliers in town. We notified this supplier of this scam. We don't need another victim in Austin area so please do stay away from this guy.

He left the existing landscape fabric in place, which has become torn and is falling apart, without replacing any of it. He only put mulch in about 3/4 of the flower beds, and while he did put down new decomposed granite on our walkways, he failed to follow up afterwards and pack it manually or tamp it down with a machine, as is a required part of the process for it to be properly firm. As it is now, the center of the path is firm just from us walking on it, while both edges are loose and give way when you walk on them. The path has lumps of uneven granite everywhere - my wife turned her ankle once when misstepping on one of these lumps. Edward removed the granite that was on the path originally, and left it in a large pile on the grass in our yard next to the path. He has never picked up the old dirt, and he never replaced the plastic walkway barrier at all that was supposed to keep the granite out of the yard. Edward removed quite a few of the dead bushes we had, as well as several LIVE bushes we did NOT ask him to take, and has not replaced ANY of the bushes yet, so now there are gaping holes in our landscape beds where we are going to have to plant things ourselves. He charged us $1950 for this shoddy work, and now does not answer our calls and only rarely even returns texts. We have made arrangements with him multiple times to come out to the house so we can go over what needs to be done to finish up the work, and he always sets up a time with us, and then never shows. After all, why should he? He already has his money, right? He doesn't seem to care about keeping a professional reputation, so what does he care about performing shoddy or incomplete work? He'll just swindle another clueless homeowner out of their hard earned money once we stop using him. I **HIGHLY** recommend you do NOT use Edward Bruton for any of your yard work. You can find far more capable and reputable professionals in the landscape business to keep your yard looking its best.
Description of Work: Edward came by our house several months ago, pointing out how quite a few of the tree limbs we had needed to be pruned or trimmed, as recent storms had damaged them and they were in danger of falling on our roof and cars in the driveway. He charged $2000 for the work, which seemed a bit high, but he worked quickly and the results were good. A month or so later, he showed up again at our door (out of the blue), asking if we wanted to have our landscaping worked on. As we were getting ready to move soon, we thought it would be a good idea to have him fix the yard up. Unfortunately, whereas with the tree limb work we paid him half up front and half when he finished, this time we made the mistake of paying him for ALL of the landscape work up front, and he has never finished what he agreed to do. He was supposed to pull out and replace all the landscaping fabric before putting down mulch in our flower beds, redo the decomposed granite walkway up to our door, and around the side of our house, as well as replace the plastic walkway barrier that keeps the granite out of the yard, and remove dead bushes and plant new ones.

Mr. Burton underbid the project, and walked off the job without finishing, leaving me with approx. $600 work undone for which he was paid. It will cost me about that much to pay someone to complete the work of finishing cutting down a tree and hauling away brush and limbs. Burton is unavailable via phone. His voice mail says leave a message, but you can't. It is now Aug. 17, havent heard from him since Aug. 13.
