Description of Work: Let me start by saying that I worked in the contracting business for many years, so I am probably more critical of workmanship than most people are. | |About a year ago, Doug's son replaced a spring for my garage door and did a solid job of it, so when it was time to replace the opener I called Doug first. Doug and a helper showed up on-time and finished the work in a the expected couple of hours. Doug is a good guy, easy to talk to, and knows his business. Overall, I am satisfied with the work, but I have to say I'm not completely satisfied b/c I felt the workmanship could have been better. The controller was crooked, the old mounting brackets and old control wiring were left hanging from the ceiling, and the new control wiring splices were just twisted together instead of being made with a proper insulated wire connector. I would do business with Doug again, but I'd make it clear up-front that I was expecting good work.

+ -1 moreOur garage door had broken the night before. I called Doug at 7;45 the next morning. He told me that he was getting ready to go to another job but he could stop by within the next hour. He arrived within 45 minutes. He told me how much the job would cost and recommended that both the springs be replaced since the other one was likely to fail as well.He finished the job in about 45 minutes. The whole process went very smoothly and efficiently. It was a good experience from start to finish.

+ -1 moreWent to open my garage door and it first got stuck, then slammed down and would not open. Called 2 companys from Angie's List and left messages, the first could not make it out for 2 days since they were booked up. Called Doug's and he called me back within a half hour and was already in my area and came right out. I have 2 trucks in my garage and they had to work about them, but they got the old spring, etc off and replaced with new parts and the door works great! It was less then 2 hours from when I called them and they got here and repaired the door. Great work!!

+ -1 moreIt went well he got over to my place fast and got the door installed quickly. It was much easier than trying to schedule an install with one of the big home improvement places that then sends an individual contractor. I recommended him to my neighbor and she used him also.
Description of Work: He secured the rails on my garage door (they were loose) and installed a garage door opener that I already had.

+ -1 moreSo, it was 7:30 am. We called first guy from Angies list and sure enough got his voice mail...Next guy we called was Doug. We explained situation to him. He quoted us his service fee ($59) on phone itself. We told him we were in hurry to get to work and he was home by 7:45 am (luckily for us, he was close by). By 8:15, he had the door moving up and down (of course, there was bends/scratches on paneling, but you will have to look close). He charged us just $59.00 and I am sure anyone else would have just told us to replace the door. We intend to replace the door and weather stripping soon and we have no doubt , whom we will be calling to do that service !!!! Very very impressed.
Description of Work: My wife hit the garage door as she was backing out from INSIDE. The door was protruding out quite a bit on the outside. The side railings (on which the operer slides) was protruding out...I tried my best to push the door inside , but it would not budge. I was sure that I would have to pay $600+ for new door plus labor.

Instead of wasting my time and money he let me know that Stanleys haven't been made for years and I would probably be better off getting a new opener, which I did. After I bought my new opener I called Doug and his son came out the same day. The job was done fast and well. I will be calling Doug again when my other opener dies!

+ -1 moreI called Doug using the number in the listing. It was his cell number, not his office number. He was working at another location a bit out of town and explained he could not make it for 5-6 hours. He said if I was in a hurry he could recommend a couple of other companies. I called them and they were as busy as Doug, plus their prices were higher. I called Doug back and he said he could be at my house between 4 and 5 PM for the work. He arrived at 4PM, finished the work in the 30 minutes time promised and was on his way. He's an independent local company and I highly recommend him for any garage door work.

+ -1 moreAs I was closing the garage door this morning, the cable broke. I immediately called Doug's and he was at my home within an hour and a half. He was here less than an hour and completed work on two garage doors. Excellent work, friendly and the price was more than reasonable. This company definitely deserves an A+ rating. PLEASE CALL HIM FOR ALL YOUR GARAGE DOOR NEEDS!

+ -1 moreI called them around 10 AM. They answered the phone immediately. They had an opening for same day service, and said they would be over by 1 PM. They arrived at my house 15 minutes early and did the work quickly. The repair quality was great and I have had no problems with the garage door since they came. One minor quibble - Without asking me, they stuck a sticker with their contact information onto the wall of my garage by the light switch. They should have asked permission first. That is why I gave them only a B on professionalism while all other ratings are A's.
Description of Work: My garage door was stuck open because the cable on one side had come off the pulley and wrapped around the support bar. They put the cable and pulley back together right and also lubed and tightened the pulleys on both sides.

He fixed the problem very easily and almost seemed like he felt guilty charging me the $49 service call charge, which I was happy to pay. He gave me advice on how to keep my garage door in good working order.
Description of Work: Door was not opening and closing correctly. Doug fixed the door and also reset my pass-code on the opener.
