Distinctive Remodeling

The owner, Ted Rojas, has always been extremely professional. We set up an initial appointment just to review the work that would be performed, estimated costs and timelines. Ted carefully explained every step of the process and asked me to start by visiting a few local retailers to look at new tile and fixture possibilities. He also recommended I check out Houzz.com (where Distinctive Remodeling also has a page) for shower remodeling ideas. Selecting tiles and fixtures felt a little bit tricky because we were only going to remodel a large walk-in shower inside a fairly large master bathroom. The tile and fixtures would have to blend with the overall colors and style of my 17-year-old bathroom, which is still in excellent shape. After bringing countless tile samples home, I finally narrowed my choices to a few beautiful travertine pieces, called Ted and asked him to review the project plans and tile with me one last time. He came over, helped me choose the best tile and trim and even came up with a couple of great design ideas. We had a plan and set a date. In the days leading up to the remodel, Ted was always excellent about returning calls or even stopping by my house to answer any lingering product questions. Even though he's busy, he never rushed me or the process. On the day that work began, Ted's crew arrived and carefully moved aside furniture and rugs that were in their traffic flow. They carefully taped down butcher paper to every walking surface so as not to stain floors or carpets. Very tidy and very professional. Needless to say, the work itself was a fairly messy, but Ted's crew cleaned up at the end of each day. They discovered some mold behind one of the tile walls and took the necessary cautions to remove it properly. On the other hand, they also determined that the original shower pan had been installed so perfectly that they decided to leave it intact, saving me a little on the bottom line. The whole process of laying new tile, grout, fixtures, plumbing, etc. took about a week and the end result is beautiful.
