We bought a model home with no driveway. When the builder poured the driveway initially, most of the driveway was aggregate, but the ramp was poured in plain concrete per current city regulations. When the city regulations were lifted in 2010, we requested that our builder repour the ramp and we agreed on $1,000. Our builder subcontracted with Danze Concrete. When Danze Concrete poured the ramp, they forgot to bring their power washer to remove the top layer of concrete. So they used our garden hose which resulted in an unsatisfactory outcome. The ramp is lighter than the rest of the driveway because there is a top layer of concrete over it. We tried to contact our builder several times, but his cell phone number changed. So we didn't know what to do. We were never contacted or received a bill. Almost 4 months later, this man that we had never seen before shows up at our door. In fact, he drives his huge pick up truck all the way up our driveway and practically into our garage. He demands money and threatens my husband and son who were outside at the time -- frightening our son. Turns out this man was Chris Danze. And he was charging us well over $2,000 for shoddy work. Well above the amount we agreed to. Within 7 days of giving us our first bill, his lawyer sends us a letter. We went back and forth for over a year trying to settle. He refused to budge -- he wanted more money than we agreed to pay for an unsatisfactory result. He sued us. We counter sued. 6 months later, we finally agreed to pay him $1300 to get the whole thing over with.
Description of Work: Plain concrete driveway ramp removed and replaced with aggregate for cosmetic purposes.
