I only rated 4 stars. That's more a comment of the lock manufacturer than Cothron's. It took a seemingly really long time to get the parts from the lock maker. So maybe if I ding Cothron's, they will ding Medeco.

I recently had some keys made at the Burnet road store. These were keys for a set of SmartLocks I have on my rental property. I also had two cylinders to rekey, one an old entry door lock, and the other a SmartLock I thought I had miskeyed. Turns out that SmartLock was broken. Even though that was not Cothron's fault, the locksmith made me a few extra keys as he wanted me to have value for my money (I had prepaid). Well, I definitely got value for my money and appreciate the great service I received there. I'm sorry I can't recall the fellas name, but he is a hispanic gentleman, maybe around mid-30s. Really great! I actually always get great service at Cothron's. Quick, pleasant, and professional. I have been a customer since buying my first mountain bike at the Ben White store in the mid-80s. It was a Diamondback Ascent that I used for over 25 years. Yep, they used to sell bicycles. I look forward to doing continued business with Cothron's and highly recommend them. Thanks Cothron's!

The experience with Cothron's was excellent from start to finish. They were able to come out the next day and the office staff was friendly and easy to work with. The technician (Ray) that came out to my site. He was on time, professional, helpful and completed the service quickly. He was a pleasure to work with. I will definitely use them again. They came to our office to look at our door and said they would call us back with quote. I never heard back from them! I called over 3 times and they kept telling me someone would call back. It has been almost a month and nothing. How convenient after the took me for 50 bucks. Scammers!!

I went into the Round Rock store to have two house keys cut from the key that works perfectly and is not worn out. The keys did not work. Shame on me for not trying them prior to leaving town and giving the keys to the cat sitter. They couldn't get in and it cost me $76 to have Cothrons come out and open the door for them. (After extensive ID checks - which is great.) They ruined the bottom lock on my front door and I'm out another $60 for a new lock. Very expensive lesson. Have ACE Hardware in Georgetown cut new keys for you and test the keys. ACE has always cut them correctly. Five starts for the intense ID checks and text waivers I had to go through to get them to let the cat sitter in. Also they were there in 30 minutes. One star for the fact that they are the ones that cut the keys and CAUSED this issue. I have used Cothron's on a professional level for managed projects and they were expensive but good.

On time. Prompt. Courteous. Fixed problem

They were able to help me on the same day. The locksmith started with the front door where the front lock was literally falling apart after 16 years of wear. Took about an hour. I asked if he could also repair hinges and deadbolts on other doors in our house and he said no problem. Excellent work, reasonable, and very happy with the results.

When I called in to get a quote and schedule a service call, the woman who answered the phone kept talking to others in their office, was very distracted, and she didn't seem to care at all what I was saying. I finally pointed out that she was not paying me any attention, and she apologized but she was not at all professional or responsive. Had I not pointed it out, she would have continued I am sure. She said they were short-handed, but that is not a reason to be rude on the phone nor should that be the customer's concern.

Steve from Cothron's arrived on time, looked over the door and locks carefully and then explained exactly how he could improve the security of the door. I wanted to install a non-jimmy lock but he advised against it, explaining that those do not work at all if a door shifts even a 1/16th of an inch, which is highly likely in this older Austin property. Overall, a really good experience. When you call, if you have questions, ask to speak with someone who has technical or field experience. I dinged them for professionalism because my first phone call to Cothron's was answered by someone who could not answer any questions and was very frustrating. The only reason I called back was that Cothron could do the job that same day and no one else could. When I called to arrange an appointment, I spoke to someone else who was very competent and helpful.

Cothron's had the models I was looking for, based on a recommendation from my brother, who is a locksmith. Their sales associate provided me with a quote for the safe and installation. I haven't made a purchase decision yet.

All went fast. Locksmith also discussed with me on what to do to maintain the locks especially when exterior door locks are exposed to rain and are hard to open and close. Great service and price is reasonable.

Customer service representative (over the phone) was sarcastic and impolite and not helpful.

Adjusted automatic sliding glass door. The technician took a look at it and it appeared to be something simple, he made some adjustments which fixed the problem. Knowledgeable and efficient.

It went quickly. I was in and out in 10 minutes.

They were supposed to get keys for a desk that I had. They took the desk apart to take the locking mechanisms out. They could not get the keys for me. I requested them to put the desk back together and they would not. They brought the parts back but did not install them.

I would use them again in a minute. Highly recommend.

Horribly. I told them on the phone it should cost 39.99 per Liberty Safe company. They told me they had one in stock. Told them I'd be right over. Yes, they did have one. But....they wanted more than double the price that Liberty Safe says it should be (and doulbe what Cableas sells them for......I've had one on backorder at Cableas for weeks). When I told them, they just shugged and said too bad. I have given these folks an outstanding report for delivering and installing that same safe. But, based on this highway robbery attempt, I will not be using them again.

It was great. Timely, professional, quick.

Works perfectly now. They were professional and courteous. I will definitely use them again.
