While Colonial Mortgage wasn't the cheapest mortgage option I found, they were recommended by a friend. Mark Orr was very responsive, professional and helped me close a little early. The $2000 covered the loan origination fee along with some of the other fees - of course this amount will vary. I would recommend to my friends and family.

I switched to another lender and closed. The property was a foreclosure condo. Since the mortgage crisis, it seems that no closing is "easy" or swift and is a stressful time. First I was working with one lending officer at Colonial Savings, and then received an email from another, who I later learned was also working with him on my loan. Initially, there was a lack of communication between the two (each wanting the same documentation, etc.). And that lack of communication set the tone. Approximately a week and a half before the closing date, I was emailed that there was a roadblock during underwriting (through no fault of my own). I replied with questions, however, the issue was never explained. Through an internet search, I learned all about it. I was never called. Only told via the email that it would affect whether or not we would close. After a couple of days of guessing and stressing, I switched lenders, was explained the process every step of the way by that lender and we were "cleared to close" in a week. On that day, two days before closing, I received a call from Colonial Savings. THEN I got an explanation of what had happened, but by that time, it was too late.
