Clear Choice Roofing

I had a leak coming in from around the chimney, and they fixed the flashing as well as replaced all the vertical boards. They were very prompt and friendly. I think they did a good job on the repairs, and James was easy to work with. After they pulled the old boards off, they found some of the siding needed replacing and brought it to my attention. He was able to find a business that carried it and got that taken care of as well. They could have just put the boards on top of the bad siding and been done with it, but they made sure to do it right. Would recommend.

They were incredibly nice, prompt, professional, and did a good job of following up. I found them on Angie's List. Unfortunately, they gave us bad advice and we wasted $550 as a result. They told us bad materials were used on the roof which was a problem and would need to be replaced in the next few years. They came back with another person from the company and determined that the chimney flooding was a result of the rain cap, so we spent $550 to get a new rain cap. With the new rain cap on, our roof problems were not improved and water was still coming into the chimney and elsewhere. They came back and tried to improve the roof around the chimney, but this did not help and we learned later that work was not really done properly. It was a band-aid on a big wound. I did appreciate them attempting to help us improve the situation once it was evident that the rain cap was never the issue. In the end, we had another company re-roof the entire area. Our roof had a particular structural issue due to the remodel and the job required someone to understand how to accommodate the issue with precision. Clear Choice had excellent customer service and if our roofing issue had been less complex I have no doubt I'd be writing them an A rating review. However, our roof problem was complicated and they misdiagnosed the issue, which put us out $550 and water was still coming into the house. I would encourage you to give them an opportunity to earn your business, as I think the customer service is very good and they are very nice people who will work hard for you. But my advice to this company is that when an issue is as complicated as ours -- send the owners out to make sure the issue is diagnosed accurately and money is not wasted.

Wow. The whole experience was great.The only thing that was just slightly not expected was the crew to show up at 7:15 yesterday and start work. I didn't have a time to expect them. I had been told that they would be dropping off material. They did but they got to work on the roof right away. Tony and his crew were amazing. IT was at least 99 degrees and probably even hotter being on the roof. They stripped the old roof off by 11:00 and were well on their way to having most of the approx. 3000 sq. ft roof covered by 5:00. I thought they would knock off about 6:00 but the hammering continued until 8:00. THEY FINISHED THE WHOLE ROOF IN ONE DAY!!!!! These guys were machines. They did a great job on the roof and they did a great job cleaning up.The owner of the company should give these guys a bonus. I dealt with ROYCE which made the whole estimate process pretty easy. Great workers. I highly recommend Tony, his crew, Royce and Clear Choice.

Gavin Weathersby with Clear Choice is very professional. He fixed 2 roofs and he gave us a good price and dealt with the insurance company well. This is the best consumer experience I've had since moving to Austin in 1998!

He did a good job, and they did hourly work which they dont usually do. I would use them again and recommend them.

Professional. These folks know how to do business. James was prompt at returning all of my questions and explaining the work to be done. The job had to be postponed for a few days due to inclement weather. These things happen, one can't stop the rain. James was professional enough to pay attention to the weather, alert me that it was going to rain and let me know that his crew was unable to perform the work necessary in the rain. He also let me know that his crew would be at my home on Monday to finish the job...and they were. The crew was professional, cleaning up the area before they left each day. Clear Choice uses high quality shingles and James was good enough to let me know which ones were appropriate for my area and which ones were over-board. I'm very pleased with the quality of workmanship with this company. However, I'm more pleased with their professionalism. They were on time every single time, they did what they said they were going to do and my phone calls and emails were answered in a timely manner. My wife tells me I'm picky and she's right. I looked the job over every day and payed close attention to the entire process. Clear Choice knows what it takes to please an Angie's List customer. Thanks guys!

Bottom line first: Clear Choice exceeded my expectations in EVERY way. First, I asked three of the Austin roofing companies that scored highest in customer satisfaction on Angie's List for a proposal to repair my roof damaged on 3/25/09 by hail. Unlike the other two companies, almost immediately after I sent the fax, Gavin responded to my request. He contacted me and arranged to come out and look at my roof. He provided a quote within one day! The price was very reasonable in comparison to the one other complete bid response I received. Normally, I would have been suspicious that something might be left out of a lower cost bid, but feedback from other Angie's List customers that had used Clear Choice indicated that Clear Choice routinely provided better value for the money. I met several times with Gavin before we came to an agreement. He fine tuned his offer based on my desires. He offered up some suggestions for supplemental work only when I asked him for suggestions. He noted my concerns and special requests and communicated them to Tony (crew boss) and Five Star Gutters to whom he subcontracted the gutters. The removal and replacement of the gutters was well coordinated with the removal and replacement of the roof. The roof tear-off and replacement was essentially completed in one long day with eight skilled roofers working hard for about twelve hours. The roof was quite complex, so it was not a job for an inexperienced crew. Two of the guys came by the next day to clean up and finish some caukling and 'rodent proofing' that I had requested. The crew also fixed several underlying problems from my LAST roofing job in 2006. They also fixed a problem with the ridge vents being poorly cut that had existed since the house was built in 1993. Gavin also ensured that they resealed the chimney cap and replaced a couple of sections of the 1"x4" fascia board along with a small piece of decking that needed replacing, all at no extra charge. He also had them replace all the drip edge, though he did not technically have to do that. Five Star Gutters then put on new gutters, reusing some high-quality cap at my request. They also capped the remaining gutters and even put a section of gutters on a side of the house that hadn't had them previously. They are a family outfit and were careful and competent in their work (though I haven't yet had a rainstorm to test how the new gutters perform). After all the work was done, Gavin climbed up on the roof himself for a personal inspection. He then helped with the paperwork submission to my insurance and mortgage companies so I could get my "recoverable depreciation" back. The entire transaction, from start to finish, went pretty much without a hitch. I absolutely got substantially more than I expected to for the money, and Gavin's communication style kept me in the loop and comfortable throughout. I would DEFINITELY use Clear Choice again, and I give them my highest rating.

My parents would like to say the job went extremely well---- everything from the inspection and bid to the completion. Royce Clark came on time for the bid and to complete the contract, prior to starting. The morning the job was to be done, Royce and Gavin (the owner of the company) were both present to get the job started. As stated, my parents were very pleased with the way everything went. My parents had three other bids and, from talking to the other reps., there was no doubt in their mind who would do the best job. Also, Clear Choice was one of the lowest bids for a 30-year roof.

The job went great! ...from start to finish! This Is my second attempt in repairing a back porch that was installed improperly and material use was not sustainable for the pitch of the roof Gavin came out and inspected the roof and explained what was wrong and what needed to be done to repair the problem.( noted: the original contractor substituted a material that was not adequate for a flat roof ) Gavin's crew was easy to work with and very efficient!. They answered all my questions and even installed a a ceiling fan for me ( without a charge) ....because i was trying to do it by myself!... what a great bunch of people...Thank You Danny

Clear choice's worker showed up and rang doorbell informing my wife he would be on the roof looking it over. He did the boot changeouts and tweaked some flashing that he noticed needed some repairs. He was very courteous and informed us he had finished. I have used this company for large commercial jobs in the past-a 38 unit apt complex and a large office building after hail damage, I also hired him to fix/repair a metal roof on a large shopping center after years of hiring roofers to do the work to only have the leaks come back-after he fixed it was have no longer had any leaks--i found them to be very competitive on pricing and did a great job. I highly recommend Gavin and his company clear choice roofing.

The adjuster said to try and get at least three estimates. I contacted three companies listed as "A" on Angie's list and also a company that put new roofs on my neighbors house. It was a "no-brainer". Clear Choice was hands down the most professional. Gavin came out on time and did a complete inspection of the work that needed to be done. I might add that we have a metal roof and there were several choices we had as to style, color, and material. Gavin patiently went over all the options and priced each one. When all the dust cleared, we decided on a replacement pretty much just like the oriiginal. After studying all the bids I decided to go with Clear Choice...a great decision. Gavin's price was considerable lower than the competition but money alone was not the deciding factor. We liked Gavin's frankness, his humor, and especially the fact that he wouldn't promise anything that he couldn't deliver concerning quality, timeliness, and price. The forman on the job was Arturo and he is very much responsible for Gavin's success. The crew showed up every day at the time promised, went about their business in a very professional manner; no smoking, no music, loud or otherwise, picked up after themselves as they went. and communicated with us so we know what and when to expect. Gavin subbed out the gutters to Five Star gutters and they too, did a very good and professional job. There is no doubt if we ever needed services offered by Clear Choice we would use them again in a heartbeat.

Went very well! Here's the highlights of my experience with Clear Choice Roofing: 1) They met with my adjuster when he did the inspection to ensure that they agreed on what needed to be replaced. 2) They were very responsive and kept me up to date on when they could start. We had some rain which delayed the start date - they called and kept me up to date on when they would start. 3) They started one week after I signed the contract. It took them two days to do the job. 4) The sales person was very flexible to meet with me on my schedule. 5) All through the process, the sales person explained to me what to expect for both the job, and for working with my insurance agent. 6) Quality of the job was excellent. I have an investment house that also needs the roof replaced - I will be using Clear Choice Roofing for that job as well.

It went extremely well from beginning to end. I dealt with Randy Burr as both sales rep and project supervisor. Randy is efficient, effective, very responsive and a pleasure to deal and work with. Randy was very accommodating with time and advice in helping me reach decisions on various aspects of the project upon which I had questions or concerns. For example, the ridge lines at two points on my roof are relatively short and intersect at right angles, and I was uncertain if the ridge vents could be extended a few feet further than what I have observed on neighbors' roofs. I wanted the maximum feasible length so as to maximize venting. Randy sought advice, confirmed feasibility and saw to it that the ridge vents were extended as far as possible.

Gavin came out here and gave me the estimate. A few days later there was a neat stack of new shingles in my driveway, and I think it was the day after that they arrived to do the job. They started first thing in the morning, and by the end of the afternoon, everything was done. I haven't found any rogue shingle pieces or nails in my yard, so I consider that to be excellent cleanup. The new roof is great, and the house seems much cooler now that I have efficient passive ventilation for the attic.

Excellent process - start to finish

They did okay. The price was right. The quality was fine. I don't know the difference. I cannot get up on the roof and see the shingles, but I assume they are fine.

I worked with salesman Randy Burr, he was very responsive from the start. My insurance company had surveyed my roof and given me funds for a partal replacment, Randy was able to put together a price to allow for a total roof replacement with minimal cost to me. The work was scheduled very quickly and completed in one day. The crew did a good job and Randy stopped by to inspect the progress. I'm very happy with the work, and price, that Clear Choice Roofing did on my house.

There were some communication missteps along the way that were a bit frustrating. If I had been told that removing the old aluminum facia would mean the soffit would be hanging down, I would have contracted for both of them at the same time. Imagine my shock when I come home excited to see my new facia and instead have soffit boards hanging down around the back of my house. I also wasn't happy with the way the facia and soffits transitioned from the back of the house to the front of the house. I was told it was due to the way the roof was built in the back, again, communicating this to me ahead of time rather than after the fact would have saved some frustration. Although I was told that I would pay for each phase upon completion, I got invoices for both phases before work was completed. The front office wasn't talking to the back office. These issues were both addressed immediately when I called, and they apologized for the miscommunication.

Chose company from high rating on Angie's list. Called and made an appointment for a visit. Randy came out about three days later (they are quite budy). He discussed the options with me and prepared an estimate, which was approved by the insurance company. A team of about 10 roofers came out to strip the old roof and put the new roof on in one day (the one dry day in a week of rain). In the course of the roofing, they found one sheet of plywood base that needed to be replace, which they did expertly and without discussion. They cleaned everything up nicely. The roof looks great and Randy was great to work with.

We are very pleased with the appearance and quality of the new roof. Mr. Randy Burr was our contact at Clear Choice. I found him to be courteous, helpful, professional and well informed about our roofing material choices. He always returned phone calls promptly. Once started, the roof work was completed in 1 and 1/2 days and was not rushed. Randy came out promptly after the work was done to inspect the job. The only glitch was the color of the roof vent piples. In our opinion, the paint color used did not complement the shingles. Randy, with no fuss, agreed to repaint the vent pipes with the color of our choice. This was done at no additional expense. We thought the total cost of the job was very fair.

They were very courteous and I would use them again.

The company gave me a contract to fix the roof, the inside sheetrock and paint, and gutters. They did not come to fix the roof when they were supposed to. When they did come, they sent a worker with his wife and small child to hold the ladder. The worker did not think the company had insurance. After calling the company, they apologized. The company sent a sheetrock worker to my house, who scheduled repair a few weeks after he came to see the job. He also did not come as scheduled. When I contacted the company, they asked for more money. After two months, and after much hassle and wasted time, the owner called me to tell me it was not a good contract for them, and that the contract they gave me allows for them to cancel the contract at will. To be fair, they did not charge me for the questionable roof repair; however, I have been through much wasted time, and I turned down other offers when looking for a roofer. This is a business that I would never do business with, and I cannot recommend them in any way.

Their bid was more expensive but they did a good job. They came and started the work right away.

After the initial repair, same evening, when looking with our computer at the pictures, we noticed several rotten wood pieces still there and called Randy next day who asured a return of the workers. We also emailed pictues of the work performance to Gavin and he immediately sent his workers back to our home were approx. four 1x2 first strips were replaced. Due to an accident, Randy was not able to come back with the workers, but Gavin, who had been out of town for the most part had called us right away when he was back in Austin. He was very friendly, helpful and willing We felt that he really wanted to make sure the job was done right. The repair came with a one year warranty.Gavin also mailed us a rebate check of 150$. We had 2 other companies with their estimates, neither one of those other 2 companies had correctly evaluated the root of the problem but were higher with their pricing. We are very happy, that we choose Clear Choice Roofing since this company was the $ most reasonable one, with the best warranty and accommodation.

They were due to come on the 1st of October and there was some delay because of the weather, as it was raining. We had rain for about 10 days and then they came on the 13th of October. The owner made an appointment to come out and gave me an estimate on a weekend. The other companies took at least a week before they came to give the estimate. Of the 4 estimates that I got, the estimate given by Clear Choice Roofing was one among the 2 lower ones. The owner got the work done exactly as specified and for exactly the price that he had specified. He was always here when he said he would be here and the crew as well. The workers were polite and diligent. They didn’t speak much English which didn’t bother me that much. The quality of their work has been good so far. There was some other work that was required to be done. We had to replace drywall on our internal ceilings because of leaks in the old roof. There was also little carpentry work that had to be done on the top apart from the roofing and he recommended somebody who came out and accomplished that very well. It was 250 $ for the internal work and 250 $ for the external work. His bid was for a total of 8000 $ and 500 $ for the additional work. They were very professional and knew their stuff. I had another bid for 8700 $. I also had the impression that they were a smaller outfit. I got an impression that they were eager for the business and may be a little more than the others. I was very happy especially since their owner came on a weekend several days before any of the other companies that came out.
