Clear Choice Roofing

Clear Choice Roofing was the last company to contact me of 7 companies I contacted through Angie's List to deliver a quote for a new roof. I have to say, my decision to go with Clear Choice was based entirely on price, and I should have placed more value on their slow responsiveness from the beginning. It took a couple of weeks for them to get someone out to my house to deliver a quote, and Rick, the man who quoted the job, said that they would be able to get the roof done the next week. I waited and waited to hear from the scheduling office, but after a week, I called the office and they acted as if I hadn't even been placed on the schedule yet--they scheduled me for a week after that. About three weeks later, after postponing several times due to weather, the roof was replaced. The crew worked fast and completed the job in a day and a half. They were nice and professional. We asked if we should pay them, and the crew said not until the gutters were installed by a separate crew the next day. The gutter crew came several days later, on a Saturday, with no advanced notice, and we were not expecting them to show up on a weekend, after failing to show up the rest of the work week, so we were not home when they performed the install. The gutter crew told our neighbor that they were only hired to install 100 feet of gutters when our house clearly needed 160 feet, and that our gutters sagged in the middle due to the age of the roof and that 4 downspouts were needed instead of 2, but that they had only been hired to install 2 downspouts. Needless to say, we were disappointed to hear that the gutters were not being installed to par, since we gave Rick our business over several other great quotes for gutters we got on Angie's List just to simplify the process. (I would recommend Big Rain Gutters to anyone looking--they gave a super-reasonable quote and were very knowledgeable.) We expected Rick to show up in the next few days to inspect the job and collect his money. He showed up two months later with a nasty attitude looking for money. I told him we never received an invoice for the job, he never showed up to inspect the job after the crews left, and we weren't happy with the way the gutters ended up being installed. He argued with me back and forth over whether I wanted four downspouts or two and then said he would send out the gutter crew to install more downspouts. He also said that people "usually pay off of the proposal" when I told him we hadn't been invoiced for the completed work. Long story short, if the communication from Clear Choice had been more effective throughout the process, the experience would have been different.

Requested service via the Internet for a small roof leak in my kitchen area after a heavy strom. Received a call from Clear Choice the very next day and their workers were at my door step in less than an hour. After a quick inspection I was quoted $300 to re?seal my roof vents. I was prepared for worst case so $300 seemed like a bargain at the time. Haven't noticed any moisture in that area since the service so I guess that's all my roof needed. Overall I am satisfied with their service.

Contacted Clear Choice for roofing estimate and recommendation. It took almost 2 weeks for one of their sales people to contact me and make an appointment. Rick Ackerman was my "salesperson." He did NOT show up for the assigned appointment time and did NOT call me to inform me he would not be there. I contacted his office and they had him call me. He apologized for missing the appointment and said he would call back to reschedule. He did NOT call back. I had to call his office again. He did not make the rescheduled appointment. He did call and said he would come by, inspect and measure the present roof and give me a quote. I emailed him electronic files of the final roof plan based on our architect drawings as well. He informed that he received them. Rick told me I would have a quote within a week. 4 weeks later I had contacted Rick and his office 3 times without receiving a quotation. Finally, more than a month after his visit to my home, I received his quotation. I should not have bothered. Clear Choice was by far the most expensive. Rick NEVER contacted me back to discuss the quotation. Poor service, unprofessional sales people, and inferior product was my experience. I could not recommend Clear Choice at all. Just for the record I am paying $21,000 to a Better Business Bureau AAA rated roofer versus a quote of $29,000+ from Clear Choice. My vote is they are Clear ly not the Choice for roofing.

They were good coming out on time, giving me an estimate, and they were good staying close to that estimate. Workmanship and follow through was good. The only thing they did not do was email like they said they were going to. But thy might have been because they wrote the email address down wrong. I would use them again.

Our experience went very well. I met Rick Ackermann at our house. He confirmed that the roof needed to be re-shingled and at some time in the past had sustained hail and wind damage. He recommended based on what he saw that I should contact the insurance company that insures our house. He also explained how they would try to solve some trouble spots on the roof that I knew about from past experience. From that point the process went very smoothly, the roofing team arrived on the day that I had been told, and they arrived right after the crew that dropped the load of shingles on the roof. So definitely high marks for being punctual and getting right down to business. They did find a rotten plank on the roof that had been incorrectly repaired about 13 years ago and this time replaced that plank to prevent further trouble. The roofing crew was very friendly and responsive to me as a customer just as Rick had been from the beginning, so to me this seems to be a good characteristic about the company as a whole. They finished the job in a single day, and I really like the job that they did. In fact, one of my neighbors, who had worked in the roofing business at one time, watched their work during the afternoon and told me they were doing a really good job and doing it the right way. From my perspective it was a great experience.

Gavin came out and gave me an estimate. It was such minor stuff that he said he could just slip it in. I said in the next week would be good and he came out and handled it the next day. Great service at an extremely reasonable price.

I called Clear Choice Roofing after I noticed a leak around my fireplace chimney and was told I would receive a call back within 24 hours. Within the 24 hours, I received a call from the project manager and met with him the next day to assess the problem and estimated cost for repairs. With the latest rain and storms, repairs were delayed for a few days but when weather cleared his crew was on the job. I am very pleased with the end result and cost for repairs. I would highly recommend Clear Choice Roofing for all your roofing needs!

Clear choice roofing came to check the cause of the leak within a day of contact and within 3 days had someone come and do the job. Gavin personally followed up after we had another hard rain to see how the work done stood up. I'm very pleased how it turned out and did not see a leak in that area. It was clear that they strive for customer satisfaction.

We got three very good bids from Angie's List members for this work. Not only was Clear Choice the lowest, they were also the only one who included the replacement of the rotted wood in their price rather than giving us an hourly rate estimate for the work. Rick Ackerman, our project supervisor, was very responsive to questions we had during the process. Since we are not all that familiar with roofing jargon, he made sure we understood what was going to happen and followed up with the crew to make sure they took care of all the details and a couple of small extras in the process. The crew worked efficiently and carefully on our property and even worked one full day in a constant drizzle. We are very satisfied with the outcome.

Randy took a look at the leak and gave me an estimate of $350 to repair said leak. He was courteous, professional, and punctual. He had the leak fixed in less than 15 minutes and I was on my way back to work. I would definitely use Clear Choice Roofing again and I highly recommend them to anyone who has any roofing concerns.

We are new homeowners and therefore inexperienced in hiring outside help. We contacted this company because of their good ratings on Angie's List when we had a roof leak. They were also the first company to call back promptly and set up an appointment. Score #1. However, the contact person, Randy, postponed the appointment three times. In the meantime, it rained again, so my husband went up to the roof to try to tarp the area himself. As soon as they arrived, we were immediately unimpressed and leery of the service. Randy introduced himself by saying, "This will be an easy fix. I could see the problem as we drove up." Wow. Must be a really good roofer if they can diagnose the problem before ever going up to the roof. Maybe it was the big black trash bag that tipped him off? He then said that they would do an inspection of the whole roof and seal around all of the ventilation pipes, fixing the leak as well, for $300 ($50 off because they had postponed the appt so many times). He wanted payment up front, which I was also leery about, but, again, I'm new at this, so wrote the check, thinking that I could always stop payment if there was any funny business. Well, Randy never went up on the roof. Only the guy with him, who we never met, and he spent a grand total of 10 minutes up there. At that point, I was thinking that $300 was quite a steep price for the work performed, especially since I had read reviews of similar repairs by another well-rated Angie's list roofer that only cost $75. I did not think that a 10-minute application of "toothpaste" should cost that much. Randy then came back in to say goodbye. I wanted him to look at the inside damage, both in our bedroom and in the attic. He didn't want to, stating, "It's not necessary," but I insisted on it by saying, "It would really make me feel better, since I'm new to all of this." So, he went upstairs and poked his head into the attic, immediately saying, "Oh, I see what you're describing." 1) I could see that he was looking at the wrong side of the house, and 2) I knew for a fact that you couldn't see the area of damage unless you stood up in the attic. I let it go, because it was obvious that he wasn't listening to anything we said. To put it bluntly, Randy was patronizing and belittling, not listening to any of our concerns and treating us like we were completely stupid. He also stated several times, "He (the other guy) can USUALLY fix it right the first time." No offense, but I'd like to hear a "skilled worker" have a bit more confidence in his work. The next hard rain, it leaked in the same place. Surprise, surprise. Of course, since they warranty the work for a year, we had to call them again, although I sure wished I had enough money to call someone new. We called the dispatcher as soon as we discovered the leak, about 5am on a Sunday morning. She asked who did the work, and said that she'd tell Randy to call us as soon as it was normal business hours. By noon, we hadn't heard anything and called the dispatcher back. She said that she didn't know when he would call us, but she would send the message again. Never heard anything that day. The next morning, we called again. The dispatcher sounded surprised and upset that he hadn't called us yet. We also found Randy's phone number in our phone history and called him directly, leaving a message since he didn't answer. He finally called us back Monday afternoon and said that someone from the office would call us to set up an appointment. That didn't happen until Tues or Wed, and they set up an appointment for Friday. We could only pray that someone besides Randy would come this time. Thankfully, that came true. Two different men (unfortunately, I don't know their names, but I want to highly recommend and thank them) came on time. My husband first showed them the area of the leak in the attic. They spent almost 15 minutes in the attic with a light, checking it out thoroughly. They then went up to the roof and came to back down to tell my husband, "We know how to fix it." He then described what he was going to do to repair the leak and the piece that needed to be replaced. They did the work quickly and efficiently and left everything clean. We called the company to praise them; however, the dispatcher said that they were contracted workers, and she didn't know their names. It hasn't rained since they were here, but we would be very surprised if it leaks again. These two workers are the only reason that the company is getting a D rating from us instead of an F. I hope it doesn't leak in that area again, because I will never use this company for any additional services. They should have taken the time to fix it correctly the first time. The first visit was overpriced and worthless, causing additional damage the interior of our home.

The reason I called this company was because of the amazing reviews I saw here on Angie's list. By all accounts they were supposed to be so professional and have great customer service, but that was NOT my experience at all. I called on a Monday and was told I would be contacted by my salesperson within 24 hours. Come wednesday morning I called again and said I had not yet been called, so the dispatcher apologized and said she'd take care of it. I did then get a call within a half hour... so no real strikes yet. The salesman came out that same day and measured and we discussed my needs. He apologized for not calling me sooner even though I did not express displeasure... so it seemed like he had good customer service. He promised me a bid by Friday. I told him the job needed to be done within the month. It has been 2 1/2 weeks and I never received a bid, a call, an email, or heard another peep from this company. I am terribly disappointed! I signed up for Angie's list specifically to find a roofer I could trust, but I would not recommend this company with glowing reviews the way others do. Perhaps if you get a different salesman you get better attention, and perhaps their work is good, but I will never know because I will not be using them. After this review, the owner called me and offered to make everything right. He does care about his customer experiences. He treated me to dinner for my unhappiness.

I had a roofing leak, consulted Angie's list, and contacted Clear Choice Roofing to ask them to come out to take a look at the roof. They asked if it was an emergency and I said it wasn't. The nice lady on the phone then checked upcoming weather, saw we we're expecting rain, and scheduled an appointment for the very next day. They came out as scheduled, inspected the whole roof, determined the problems, and told me they would be out the following day to fix the roof, which they did. The rains came that weekend and to my delight there were no more leaks. Further, they said I could apply the repair cost to a whole re-roof, which I had mentioned I was considering. All of this was done during the week of Thanksgiving. Amazing! I have dealt with other roofing companies in the past and none came even close to this level of service or value. In the future, when I do replace my aging roof I will use Clear Choice Roofing.

I got proposals from 3 of the 4 top-rated roofers on Angie's List (I looked for all "A" ratings, Customer Service Awards, and the roofers with the most reviews.) The first guy showed up driving a Lexus - it's not a good sign when your roofer drives a Lexus. Sure enough, his proposal was the highest of the three. Clear Choice produced the most complete proposal, with more extras than the other 2 roofers. Their crew came when I was told they would, did most of the work in one day, and left the job site cleaner than they found it.

Overall we could not have been happier with our experience the paperwork we received was just what the insurance company needed....Thanks Again...........

Clear Choice came out within 2 days of my call, went on the roof, inspected everything, and repaired the vent collar by lowering it. Since the job ended up being so small, they did all of this at no charge! I would have been happy to have paid them for the house call, but all they asked was that I submit a report to Angie's List, which I was going to do anyway.

Overall it was a very good experience. The roofing material was delivered one day prior to installation and placed on the roof by the supplier. Crew arrived right on time early the next day worked until dark completing 98% of the job. They ran a little short of material so they returned the following morning and were done by 9 AM. The crew cleaned up continually during the day and when it was all done, no mess. Roof looks great.

Everyone we spoke to at the company were very helpful-they described the different materials and warranties available and allowed us to take a sample board to our home for review/determining how we wanted to proceed. The employees that actually did the work were very respectful of our time and of our home. Everything was picked up and if anything was moved, it was put back into place.

I got quotes from the top 3 roofers (according to Angies List ratings) in our area, and Clear Choice Roofing was the most responsive, the most personable, and the most professional of the three. Clear Choice's price was within a few hundred dollars of the other two. Our salesman, James Brandon, was a real pleasure to work with. It was a no-pressure sale and he had great answers to all of my questions. I also spoke with the owner, Gavin Weathersby, and got a solid impression that his primary goal was to make sure the job is done right and to my satisfaction. The crew showed up on the scheduled day and got the whole job done in a day, and cleaned everything up without damaging any of my wife's landscaping (a big plus!). We also replaced all of the old square vents on the roof with a new more efficient ridge vent. When we inspected the new roof, we saw that a large number of the shingles were not as dark as they should have been. It looked kind of like a patchwork. I called our salesman, James, and he immediately came out, took photos, and promised to get a claim in to the manufacturer (Owens Corning) to get a whole new roof ordered. Clear Choice followed up on everything with Owens Corning, and when the claim was approved, the Clear Choice crew came back out to my house and put the new shingles on. They apologized for the delay and upgraded us to a better quality Owens shingle for no additional charge! This is a truly great company. I strongly recommend them without any reservations.

I called them to look at a potential buckling in the roof. I was called back within a few minutes, and the owner was at the house within a couple of hours of being called. He quickly diagnosed the problem, gave me a great estimate, and his crew was out the next day. Repairs were done fast and very well, they did a great job. I would highly recommend Clear Choice Roofing to anyone who asks.

The bid was very thorough and came quickly after our call. They were competitive with two other bids we received but then offered to upgrade our shingles as no additional cost to higher wind resistance due to a vendor incentive (without us asking). Since we were replacing the roof due to wind damage this was very critical to us. No other roofer considered our reason for re-roofing. Clear Choice - James Brandon, was very patient with us while we gathered other bids and while we talked to our insurance company to see what we might be able to recoup from the roof installation. Further, once we made our decision, we were really pleased that Clear Choice worked with us to order the roofing material from the vendor early to meet the incentive deadline but waited about 6 weeks before installation to allow us to get past the rain/hail season. They were very patient with us and did not push us until we were ready to have the roof installed. The crew showed up early on the day promised. They did all work in 2 days and we were quite pleased with the job done - it was well installed and they fixed any water damage they found. They left our property very clean, even sweeping the porches to remove any debris. To their credit, we were a bit worried about rain after the first day since they were in the middle of the re-roof- but they assured us they would leave the roof secure and we should experience no issues if it rained. Lo and behold, it did rain that night and no water, no damage! James came back out and reviewed the work done, he found one small area where the roof was not laying down well in his opinion (we did not notice this) and the next day they came out and replaced the area in question completely. The gutters were fixed by a company experienced in gutters sent out by Clear Choice. Only issue we experienced was the roof material vendor tried to deliver the roofing material with a 10 ton truck and wanted us to sign a waiver against any damage - we declined to sign the waiver and did not allow the truck onsite due to it's sheer size. While the truck was expected, the waiver and size of the truck was not. We called James and it was not a problem as Clear Choice made alternative arrangements to deliver the shingles onto the property without issue. Overall we were very pleased - Clear Choice made the re-roof very easy. We found their service excellent and would recommend them for use.

Clear Choice Roofing got out to check on it the next day after I called, they were prompt, they gave me a patch to hold the roof leak while writing up my estimate. The estimate was thorough, specific, informative, and prompt, and they sent it to me via email. Really helpful and great service all around!

They were prompt with responses for the estimate and beginning the work. The roof looks great and they did a fair job cleaning up. We only found a few stray nails and scraps in the backyard. The front yard was pristine. My only complaint was that they got a late start (10 am) on the first day of work and kept working past 7:30 pm. I know they were trying to get it all done in one day, however with a small child and neighbors with small kids, it is not acceptable to be banging on the roof that late in the evening. We had to call a few times to get the men to stop working, my Spanish is not good enough to have spoken with the men on site. The work team (the same one) was there bright and early before 8 am the next morning and they were done in a couple of hours. The other minor complaint was the work crew threw some of the scraps of the old roof on our front garden instead of into the onsite dumpster. I don't know how common this is, roofing is hard work, so I wouldn't completely fault them for this, but I worked h****** my roses too. I would recommend them to anyone who asks for a reference and would use them again.

We chose Clear Choice to do the work even though their bid price was in the middle. The project manager was James Brandon and he also did the estimate. From the beginning to the end, Mr Brandon and crew were professional, efficient and prompt. Although we did keep an eye on the work being done, we did not feel the need to watch everything being done. We have had work done in the past that required our constant attention. This was not necessary with Clear Choice. We are very pleased with Clear Choice Roofing and the work that was done. We highly recommend this company.

They were prompt and polite from the beginning. Heard our concerns based on another roofing experience we had and took measures to address them correctly. Provided a porta-potty, cleaned up well, were there on time each day, worked hard, had supervision of James Brandon and Antonio, and Gavin, the owner, came by to check on the progress. Cleaned up well after the job was finished and pointed out to us two places where our gutters got messed up a little and sent another good company out, Five Star Gutters, to fix it the following day. Good guys and would use them again. It is hard to find people who know how to do shake shingles but we found a good company.
