Clear Choice Roofing

Gavin came out, looked at my roof and explained the details -I had hail damage- about the damage. When the insurance inspector came, he was there to help me. After I filed the claim and the insurance paid, his crew came out and put on a new roof on within one day. He came a day later and inspected my roof with me and -I am not an expert- but my roof looks great.

They set up a day to give me a quote with three possible options. They arrived on time and finished the job within the amount of time promised. I would definitely use them again.

We were really impressed with the job done. We purchased a big deal because the ceiling of one of our upstairs bathrooms leaked when we had heavy rain. They were able to spot the problem immediately and fixed it. They did a couple other minor repairs/flashing and were very honest with us. They explained all they did. Our bathroom ceiling hasn't leaked since, even in the heavy storms we had last October. We recommend them and will be using them again in the future.

Dan & Tonia did a great job on my roof leak caused by builder error. They came out to my rural home and did a timely and professional job. Both were very pleasant to work with. I would have them do my roofing repairs again if needed!

The deal seemed to be good as I just had to trust that they were doing everything the coupon said. The guy that came to inspect the roof had good knowledge and he answered questions. They were able to do the minor repairs needed under the coupon price.

Our roof had been replaced about 5 years ago by the prior owner. However, those owners (stupidly) did not choose to replace the 1974 flashing in/around the stone fireplace. Lo and behold, it started leaking. Rick from Clear Choice was very knowledgeable and patient in explaining my options. Their bid was competitive and professional (other bidders simply phoned in a $ figure!). They came out and did the repair 1 day after we signed! We tested the roof a couple of times with a hose, and are satisfied that the leak is gone.

They gave me a very competitive price and did the job in two days. Very satisfied with the quality of materials and workmanship and they left the jobsite clean when they were finished. I'd gladly use them again.

Went well. He took pictures of the roof. Said I had multiple years of life left and needed to cut back overgrown branches from roof. Good work, Good advise!

Very thorough and professional. The brother and sister team works very well. He is the sales and finance person and she manages the work crew. Both of them and very friendly and have information regarding a full range of roof types. Gavin is very knowledgeable about Texas insurance laws, payments, etc. This was extremely helpful when it came to understanding my out of pocket, what the insurance was responsible for and overall costs and price. We had a few e weather (cold and rain) issues but the teams were onsite and working when they said they would be. They were able to seal in the new roof very quickly to ensure the house would be protected from any future rain events. They replaced wood and assessed the issues with another part of my roof that was covering a new part of the house. They pinpointed the transitions as the problem areas and replaced this part of the roof as well. This is a growing company and they will be around awhile so if there are any issues, they will return to fix them. BTW, we have had none. They do commercial as well as residential roofing which indicates they have access to a broad range of subs and are required to meet a higher standard for commercial jobs. We are very satisfied with the work and recommend them highly. One of the best contractors I have ever worked with.

I will definitely use again to fix my roof.

A summer rain storm proved that we had a roof leak. Our insurance company came out and conducted an assessment of damage. Since it was under "normal wear and tear" insurance did not cover the repairs but they provided guidance as to what needed to be done. Clear Choice rain a Big Deal which covered a roof inspection and caulking. Chris was on time for his scheduled appointment. he was friendly and had knowledge of roofs. I share with him the insurance information. He conducted a roof inspection, took photos and confirmed what the insurance company has stated. The roof itself is in excellent condition. The vents are original which date back to the late 50's. Chris caulked around all roof penetrations. He provided with a long-term recommendation as well. We have had no roof leak since the caulking. I gave Clear Choice a B for responsiveness as they did not make contact with me in the stated time presented in Angie's List information. When Chris came to do the inspection he had been brought in from a sister office in another city due to the overwhelming response to the Big Deal - this may be why there was longer response time.

It was absolutely wonderful! Everything, my entire experience with them was great! I even had some additional work done and they are very easy to work with and I will us them again! I have recommended them to my friends.

excellent service. sealed gas pipe, inspected the total roof. sent me a picture of the fire retardant sealant since I was concerned.

Gavin was truly a pleasure to do business with. He assessed the damage last week, provided an invoice, had scheduled the work this week, and personally came out to inspect the completion himself. The before and after pictures provided were much appreciated. We could definitely use more companies like Clear Choice Roofing in the Austin area. Professionalism, ethical, honest, fair pricing, and impressive work!

Clear Choice did a good job on the roof generally. There were some punch list items related to the vent systems, a few shingles and cleaning the gutters. The follow up was below standard. They used a blower to clean the gutters, which didn't work particulary well and they did not clean up well. I have had to pull nails out of my pool depsite assurances they would cover my pool properly. I am still finding nails around my property. It took me over two months to get the warrenty documents despite multiple requests. They did a good job on the roof but their follow up and attention to detail was disappointing.

I guess it was okay. They went on a Christmas holidays and they did a good job. They came when they could come around the holidays and that was good. I had a leak in my roof and it needed some work and it certainly above the price of the roof maintenance. I needed the roof maintenance for sure because I haven't done it since I bought the house. I guess it was a fair price.

He did a thorough check of the entire roof and found a few more problems. He took pictures of everything and showed me immediately. He put together a repair cost. It was very reasonable and we had the work done. He was professional, prompt and did the work in a few hours.

After reading Angie?s List reviews I contacted Clear Choice on 10-16-13. I set up an appointment for two days later. Michael L. was the technician at the initial meeting on 10-18-13. Mike was very easy to talk to. He was informative and good at explaining the job at hand. I left the meeting feeling as though Clear Choice was a very good option for the small leak repair. Since my roof had not been attended to since the original homebuyer inspection, I thought it would be a good value to utilize the then-available $167 full roof tune-up. The tune-up would cover the leak repair and any other minor issues that may need attention. After assessing my options, I called Clear Choice on 11-11-13 to identify available appointment times. The operator was not able to provide an appointment date and told me she would get back to me with options. I never received a return call. I followed up again on 12-16-13, over one month since the initial attempt to schedule repair work, and reiterated my request to be put on the schedule. I was told by the operator that I had likely not heard back b/c the scheduler had been replaced and that the scheduling side was in disarray. Again, I was not given appointment options, but was told that ?Rick? would look at my file and I would hear back. To that point, and at no point during the entire repair process, did I ever speak to an employee named ?Rick?. In addition, I was asked to scan in the signed contract. I told the operator that I was hesitant to do so, and commit to Clear Choice, until I was assured I could get an appointment before the holidays. I again did not hear back after my 12-16-13 call, so I followed up for the third time to schedule an appointment on 12-19-13. During this call I was told that a technician could be sent prior to the holidays. In response I scanned the signed contract within ten minutes of the call. I was told that once in possession of the signed contract, I would receive a follow-up call to discuss possible appointment times. The next day, 12-20-13, Mike L. arrived along with a technician around 9AM. There was no advance notice, no scheduled appointment. The only reason I happened to be home was b/c of an already existing HVAC service call. Since I was luckily at home, I had no problem letting Clear Choice perform the roof tune-up at that time. Mike L. was again accommodating and professional. He was unaware that an appointment had never been made and was apologetic with re: to the lack of communication I had received throughout the process. The work commenced. Mike L. had to leave to the next job site. I was left with a very friendly technician and two areas of concern after the completed job. Unfortunately, I had difficulty conveying my concerns to the technician given a language barrier. Though we attempted to discuss/resolve the issue, he left without being able to tend to these matters. My story continued with a follow-up call to the office re: the two areas I spoke with the technician about. The call was made 12-26-13. It was requested that I send photos to Rhonda. I did so via e-mail within 20 minutes of the phone call. I received a return call the following day. Rhonda stated that the roof should not have been left in the condition it was, and advised that she would send out a technician on 12-31-13. On 12-31-13, the roofer did not show during his scheduled window. I did not receive a phone call alerting me to the no show. I cleared my NYE day for the roofer and was left disappointed with the lack of communication yet again. When I called Clear Choice, Rhonda answered. She apologized and said the technician was running long at another job and would not make it. She said she could send someone out the following Thursday. There was no explanation as to why I was not alerted to these facts in advance, or at all. No further solution was offered. Shortly after our initial call, I phoned back Rhonda and asked if another other technician was available. As it turns out another technician was contacted and routed to my home. The technician who arrived did a fantastic job given the situation he was thrust into. I appreciate him arriving on short notice and taking the time to address my concerns to the best of his ability. He explained his professional assessment prior to undertaking any work and thoroughly answered all questions I had. After this 12-31-13 visit, I never received a follow-up as would be expected after the many missteps I experienced and that were brought to Clear Choice?s attention. Instead, there was only an invoice, ironically the only communication made promptly. In sum, Mike L. and the technician on 12-31-13 were a pleasure to work with. Rhonda was courteous and sensitive to the many issues I had experienced, though I wish she had been more proactive as to a resolution. All other aspects of my experience with Clear Choice, particularly their communication, were less than desirable.

The first time they didn’t get it right, I called them back to redo the work. The secretary was kind of rude over the phone but the owner came out and confirmed it was done wrong, apologized and fixed the issue. I was really pleased he came by to look at it and was honest and fixed the issue. He went over and above to resolve.

Excellent Service!!!!! I would highly recommend them, I can honestly say that they are the best contractor I have ever found. In the past I have had huge issues with painters, plumbers and electricians, but never with Clear Choice Roofing. They showed up on time and had my roof done in one day.

Had used provider on previous home so when I discovered leak in new home, I called them. They suggested I purchase an existing Angie's List deal for roof maintenance to cover the repair and fix any other minor roof issues they might find. The first maintenance visit was okay -- he didn't really seem too interested in fixing the leak -- and it was over in less than 30 minutes. Turns out the "repair" caused more damage than the original leak so that when the next big rain came, even more water came into house. When I called to say this was the issue, the front office folks had no sense of urgency and told me it would be a week for an estimator could come back and 7 - 10 days before a repair crew could be there. I escalated and finally spoke with the original estimator. He, at least, understood that this was not just some annoying leak. This was now a warranty issue that needed to be corrected asap. An emergency crew came out the next day and fixed the issue by removing a 4x2 section of roof and replacing it. It has not leaked since. However, this "fix" cost an additional $400 on top of the $167 I paid for the original Angie's List deal. While they did eventually fix the problem, I will not use them again.

However, did not speak English. So it was a little difficult to communicate and get the work done. |Other than that, it was good service. The service date mentioned above is approximate. |

Update 1/2/14 - After reading the review by the owner and being threatened by Mike the manager, I have decided to change my review from a B rating, to an F rating. This is largely due, to the way the owner Gavin has conducted himself with me professionally. I was unhappy with the contractor because they never finished the job and posted that in a previous review. Since then, Gavin, the owner, has been making disparaging remarks on the internet and sending me numerous threatening emails (many of which I consider threatening) since I posted the initial review. The owner of the company has also posting ridiculous, unwarranted, and unsubstantiated comments attacking my character to other websites all over the internet. Fellow consumers, unless you want to potentially deal with a situation like this, I recommend to consumers that they stay as far away from this business as possible. I have to say, what crap of a response that was by the company owner. I don't expect perfection from a contractor, but I don't know of any client I have ever worked for where you could do part of the job and expect to be paid in full. If the owner of Clear Choice Roofing is reading this, understand that your company's internal issues are not your customer's problems. It's not my fault your secretary failed to schedule your employees and/or order the proper materials. No one from Clear Choice roofing contacted me for weeks, and I was forced to bring in someone else because you never finished the job. That's the problem with contractors. They want to be paid, but they don't want to finish the job and/or take shortcuts. How dare you suggest that part of the job was a "throw in" in addition to the other work. You wrote it up on the work order and were charging me for it. That doesn't make any sense. Your contractors were out at my house 3 times, trying to figure out what to do. Even after 6-7 weeks, they never ordered the materials needed and came unprepared to the job each time they showed up. I've wasted a great deal of time with your company without getting the job being completed. So please, don't sit there and suggest that I was the problem here - you people know what I've told here is the truth. Stop implying that your shortfalls are the customers problem simply because you don't want to take responsibility for what happened. I was a military combat officer for over 20 years. If I let a soldier die on the battlefield because I didn't prepare for the task at hand, what would I say to the parents - "I'm sorry that I let your son die needlessly because I was didn't have my priorities in order and chose to be ignore the situation?" Take control of your priorities and you won't have any of these problems. Fellow consumers, I suggest you stay far away from this company. Regards, John Tamel The company replaced the chimney flashing without a hitch, it was good work and they completed the job to a high degree of quality and without hesitation. The repair on the side of the house did not happen. The company explained that they had a problem getting the materials. 6-7 weeks went by the repair and the company never ordered the materials needed to finish the job. I received a call from the manager, as well as the owner, and they did apologize for the delay. They both explained that there were some internal issues with an employee who messed up the scheduling, wasn't productive, etc. At that point, I informed them I had hired another contractor to finish the job and we agreed to reduce the cost of the entire job to about $250.00. Although this happened, I don't believe this is a bad company, it was just an unfortunate situation. But based on what happened, I do support the ratings I've given the company and think it's an honest review. All in all, I would probably use them again if I needed it.

I can't imagine anyone doing a better job. The only surprise we had was they did a better job than we ever expected. If we ever need more roofing done, they will be the company we call.
