Response from Clear Choice Roofing
I was shocked to see this review and rating based on our "free" estimate with no obligation to the customer at all. His uneducated assessment of billing the insurance company is obsurd. We directed the gentleman to contact his insurance company because it was insurable due to acts of god. In turn the insurance company would have cut him a check for around $20k and he could have elected any contractor he chose as the check comes to him,not the roofing company. Further more his review of my pricing is based on the pricing of a handy man that obviously is not doing the same scope of work we allowed for. The estimate given was to remove a metal roof,re-deck the entire house, all new flashings and penetrations, ventilation system and new composition shingles. The material bill alone is $8733.72 and the labor is $4750.00 totaling $13483.72. added to this price is 15% for contractors overhead and profit. (Most competitors charge 30% ) Theirs an old saying you get what you pay for. In the 22 years i've been roofing I have seen first hand customers toy with their home; their largest investment, and not get what they initially thought was a "good deal". Why some people take on that risk for a combination of no warranty, 2nd hand material that may have been sitting for years or shoddy workmanship is unbelivable.Their is nothing ethical about installing a 9k roof on this customers house. My reviews speak volume when it comes to pricing ; in addition I am good friends with almost every local roofing company's owners and know their pricing, mark-up,and their overhead. We all shop at the same store and labor is all the same. I take angies list very serious, but this customer is almost humorous in his review as he has not even received his 9k roof. I wish the gentleman all the luck in his endeavors to protect his home in the price range that he can manage. Kindest Regards, Gavin Weathersby/owner
