I had several companies present their product and bid on my replacement windows. Brian Ross, the salesman, did a great job presenting his products. He certainly wanted to make a sale but didn't use sale pressure technics. We went back and forth on negotiating the exact product and the final price. I am very pleased with the final price for the quality product I got. The delivery date was ahead of schedule. I like the fact that the salesman, manufacturer and installer are all a part of the same company. If I have a problem in the future, then I go back to one place, rather than doing shuttle diplomacy between the manufacturer and installer, as they shift blame. The installer, Justin, was easy to work with. He was careful with the removal of the old windows and exacting with the installation of the new windows. He explained how he would install the windows. Installation is different in a brick wall than a wall with siding. One window broke during delivery but they quickly ordered a replacement sash. The final installation met my high expectations for quality. I really like the quality of this product. I spent a little more than I had hoped to, which is typical in doing a major remodel, but I like what I got for the money. It has changed the look of the house on the interior and exterior. I look forward to the ease of use and energy efficiency it will provide us along with the years of comfort and style. One last comment: Several replacement window companies will not meet with you unless your spouse sits through the presentation. I had put my dear wife through that four years ago on another house. She didn't want to sit through an hour and half presentation on windows. So a couple of companies wouldn't meet with me at all. Champion asked if she would be there but didn't demand she be present and I appreciated that. If you are looking at replacement windows, please consider Champion.
Description of Work: I contracted for them to replace eight windows at a home we purchased and are remodeling. Five were double hung windows and three were sliders. They removed the original single panel aluminum windows. They trimmed out the exterior and chalked the interior. I purchased the Champion 365 glass for its extra energy efficiency.

The windows look good, and we'll see if they live up to their energy efficiency claims once we actually move into the house.
Description of Work: Went pretty well. Install team was touch unorganized for my experience. As an installer and builder of cabinets over the years I have a pretty good idea of what I like to see in a crew. For instance, they forgot their foam gun for sealing around the windows. Luckily, I had a gun that fit their canisters so they didn't have to come back for a punch list item.

A very nice salesman came to our rental property to a**** replace a broken window. He brought impressive demonstration window in a nice velvet case and demonstrated thermo-efficiency as well as provided a great presentation package . What we did not get is a clear concise estimate that detailed the work to be done. We needed window casing and molding work as well as possible replacement of some wood around the window. This was discussed but after we noted these things were not specified in the price. We have had work done in the past with other companies and non specific estimates and work orders can turn into big headaches later on. This and finding at the end of our visit that it will take 6 weeks to have the window available made this a no go for me.

The service turned out fine, eventually. There were problems with the quality of the product three different times. They had to un install the patio door and put in another one. The third one they brought was fine. They related to the issue and approached it in a very positive way. They were not negative about it and they apologized. The problem stemmed from the factory. The service was great. They bent over backwards. It took a lot of time because they had to re order the doors. My sun room was a mess from January to now. They did everything to my satisfaction and they guarantee their products.
Description of Work: They replaced the sliding glass patio door.

The crew arrived and began work on the old windows. The crew was conscientious about their work while removing the old windows. Cleaned out the old window frames and began replacing with new windows. They foamed all the newly installed windows, cleaned up around the house. They asked us to inspect the windows for proper fit and they showed us how to operate the new windows.
Description of Work: I requested a window quote from Champion and they set me up with Josh Rachal, a factory representative, on 3/23/13. Josh greeted us and proceeded to tell us about the Champion replacement windows. He went through the house making measurements. He then begin to describe the benefits of quality replacement windows in a home. He made recommendations on the type of windows (sliders, double hung, etc) for the home. He also told us how the crew would come in remove the old windows, replace with new windows, and how they would be sealed to prevent air seepage. He discussed the total price for the new windows and we sealed the deal.

The results were stunning. We incorporated two areas into our house with ease. The installers were professional, flexible and very responsive to concerns. Since this was an addition to a 60 year old house, there were some issues with leaks that were quickly resolved. One of the doors had to be addressed repeatedly and they were fast and just as professional as they had been during the installation. Neighbors stop in the street to talk to us about it. Friends and family are surprised it is the same house. We have hosted dinner parties and holidays in our patio room, which due to extreme heat and allergens was a dead space in the center of our house before Champion added the room.
Description of Work: We had two patio rooms added: One on the existing patio and the other in the car port. The patio room was enclosed by the house on three sides, already had the foundation, so they put in one wall and door and a roof. For the carport room, the ceiling, floor and some walls were already there. They installed two walls, each with a sliding glass door and window. Plus a row of windows on top of an existing half brick wall. I finished out the rooms putting in floors, electricity and hanging window coverings.

I was and continue to be completely satisfied with my new windows and all of the work performed. From Brian Ross who "sold" me on the quality of Champions windows, to Don (sorry I didn't write down his last name) and his installation crew, I was pleased with their customer service and attention to detial. Brian provided thorough, detailed information about the window's consturction and helping me to understand how they would "insulate" my home and reduce energy costs. Don and his team were on time and made sure i understood everything they would be doing. They almost completed the entire job in one day, along with cleaning up as they worked their way around the house. They came back the next day to take care of the few remaining finishing touches. I was, and continue to be completely satisfied. AND I will use Champion when I complete a couple of remodeling jobs and finally replace the last two original windows.
Description of Work: Last year I hired Champion to replace most of the windows in my 30+ year old home - a total of 13 windows, everything from tiny bathroom windows to large "double wide" windows, including two (2) upstairs windows in my loft. Installation included details like taking down and replacing all indoor window coverings, and matching the mortar around windows in the stone walls the front of my house.

The windows are very nice, but you cannot open the entire window. You can only open up one side of the window. The bottom of the window collects dirt and that is very annoying to me. I am an old, country girl that opens the windows all the time and the dirt collecting there is very frustrating to me. You cannot just wipe it away, you have get the vacuum out to even clean it out. The installers were very professional and did a good job on the installation. My major complaint is how the dirt collects at the bottom and how difficult it is to clean.

Everything went great. They met with us on time and kept in contact about scheduling measurements to installation. Installation has always been fairly quick. They cleaned up all their messes. We *did* have to move our furniture around so that they could get to the areas to install the windows. The windows and back patio door are great quality and easy to use. They slide easily, have nice features, and best of all, they block out the heat! We've noticed a significant improvement in our home since replacing windows & door. I do plan to use Champion again in the future to finish up replacing all of our bottom floor windows. They are pricey (I didn't compare their prices to anyone else), but I think windows and doors just run a lot in general.
Description of Work: We've used Champion company twice now. The first time we had them replace all of our upstairs windows since it always would get so hot during the summer. And the second time was to replace our back patio door.

The project went wonderful. It is beautiful and it is the centerpiece of my kitchen. When the first rain came, lines appeared on the window from when they previously processed the glass. There were scratches and it created prisms. When I called them, they put in a order to replace it without even coming out and looking at it. Then they came out and re-installed the glass free of charge. I have a living room wall with very big windows. I had those replaced by Champion. When they came out and took the measurements, they took the order. They then called me back a couple weeks later and told me that the engineering they had previously done was not going to work. After they got this corrected at no extra charge to me, the installer shattered my existing windows taking them out on my wood floors. It scratched and gouged them very badly and Champion paid for all of it to be replaced. There has been a real difference in efficiency in my windows. My old windows did not insulate with the UV Rays. These stay the same temperature all the time. They really are beautiful. I'm getting ready to use them again in a new room addition.

The salesman, Brian Ross, was great and really worked to give us a great price. The crew did a great job and was done in one day! They put window treatments back up afterwards. There was one window that was broken when it arrived, so they reordered it. It was here in 2 weeks, just as they said, and it was installed quickly. The manager, Brandon Asbill, came out himself to do the measurements and explained about the custom window idea. Todd Adams, the district manager, came out and helped the crew. Of the 3 companies that we looked into, they had the best prices.
Description of Work: They installed 13 windows in our home. They built a custom window to take the place of 2. All windows have a lifetime guarantee, even including accidental breaks.

Based on the work they've done, I absolutely cannot recommend Champion. They've lost the opportunity to replace the additional windows in my house. First issue, and this is I forgave, because I feel it's part of the business, was the hard sell at estimate time. Act now and we'll give you an additional % of the purchase price. But only if you do it right now. Given that the cost was on par with the other folks I've looked at, the product seems excellent, and the history of the company, my fiancee and I decided to go with them. I put a deposit down on this day. They do a full 'demo' of the window, so you should set aside at least a couple hours for the estimate. Next issue was on the 1st install day(May 21). They need to order the windows and door from their factory, which can take 4-6 weeks. The door arrived early, so we scheduled the install date. The room was prepped for the door install(furniture moved, blinds removed). The installers show up with 16 windows and no door. Now I need to remove the blinds from 16 windows and move furniture before they can start. What was initially supposed to be a half day, turns into a full day. I called Champion to confirm this was correct, and they said they'd call me back about the door in a bit once they tracked it down. I never heard back from them. I paid for a portion of the install on this day. On June 4th, I contacted Champion to figure out when my door would be installed, and to report a couple issues with the windows. First, one of the window sashes was missing a small corner of glass. A second window sash had a big gouge in it. Finally, a couple of the windows had mortar that had already cracked around the windows. Some of it was bad enough that small pieces of mortar had already fallen out, exposing a gap between the mortar and the window. I talked to the division manager on June 5th, confirmed the punch list, and scheduled a date for my door install. On June 13th, the installers came to install my door. This was a different set than the group that had installed the windows. Unfortunately, they had no idea about the punch list. They looked at the two sashes and informed me that they would need to order the replacement sashes(expecting a 4-6 week turnaround). I wasn't happy, but knew it wasn't their fault. Then, they looked at the cracked mortar. The installers summary was that all the windows had been installed incorrectly because the trim had been installed. According to the installer, it's not supposed to be installed in stone. They'd have to chip out all the mortar for the windows, remove the trim, then re-mortar them. The didn't have the equipment to do it that day, so they installed the door. I contacted my sales rep about the issue, and received a surprise visit from the division manager, who insisted that this was not the normal quality of their work and that they would fix it. He looked at one of the sashes needing replacement and told me that the order would go in that day. The division manager would come install the replacement sashes himself some evening or a weekend so I wouldn't have to take additional time off work. We also agreed that I wouldn't need to be home to fix the windows, so they'd do it the next day. The installer finished up most of the door, and we agreed I'd pay the balance when everything was fixed. On June 14th, the 2nd installer came back, finished up some last bits on the door, and fixed all the windows. He did excellent work. He called me to let me know when he showed up. He called me to let me know when the work was completed. And he called me a day later to confirm everything was OK. It was. Everything was great. Based on the experience with that installer, I overlooked the other issues, and had been considering Champion for installing the other windows, provided he would do the install work. The only thing left was to replace the two sashes. On June 25th, I received a call from the division manager seeking to settle up on payment. I'd missed his call and he was out of the office when I called back, so I left a message stating that we can settle up on payment when the two sashes were replaced. On June 26th, I received a call from Champion asking what parts of the windows needed to be replaced, so they could be ordered. This was 13 days after the division manager assured me that the replacement pieces would be ordered on the 13th. After explaining what was needed to the person who called, I contacted the division manager again to let him know I was extremely unhappy with the service. As of July 8th, I've heard nothing back from either the division manager or Champion. I have taken part in a satisfaction survey and it rated them pretty poorly. I still owe Champion a few thousand dollars for the rest of the work, so I feel confident I'll get my issues resolved, and then I'll settle up on payment. They do seem to have a good product. I truly hope so, since I'd prefer not to have to deal with them again to take advantage of the lifetime warranty. Overall, this was a truly horrible experience, that still isn't resolved over a month later. I would strongly recommend against Champion for your projects.
Description of Work: Champion came to do the estimate on the home. After the estimate, we agreed to purchase a garden door to replace a french door and to purchase 16 of their double hung, 365 glass windows to replace our existing windows. This is half the windows in the house. The windows are in three rooms(the living room, master bedroom, and master bath). The door is in the living room.

Overall, I am completely satisfied with my new windows and the whole experience. It the spirit of full disclosure, it wasn't cheap by any means but the windows are VERY highly rated, guaranteed (not just for me but for the next owner if I were to ever sell my home), and the service was outstanding. Everyone involved in the project from Brian Ross who came out to give me an estimate to Don Kable (hope I got that right) who headed the team of installers (can't say enough good words about the quality/professional work the team did), to the wonderful lady in the office (whose name escapes me, sadly) ALL were courteous, knowledgable, professional, and even flexible to fit my schedule. I would definitely recommend them.

We got a couple of quotes and we liked Champion Windows the best. We paid them $9200. We had a very good experience with them. They were very professional. I was amazed that they were able to come in and take out all the old windows and put in all the new windows in one day. I thought that we had to move out of the house, but he said that they come in with a well trained crew. They were very efficient. Their pricing was very good and we got some discounts. They also handled the paperwork for getting rebates from the city. Everything went very smoothly and we had no problems at all. They did a very good job. In fact, I was watching them and made sure that everything was sealed just the way it ought to be. Everything worked right. It was a very pleasant experience. They were very punctual as well. The sales person gives an estimate of the size of the windows. Then they have an official measurer come out and measure each window individually, which is extremely accurate. The windows are built specifically for our each window. Then they number the windows so that each window would have to go into a certain spot. They then come and remeasure every window delivered by the factory before they start installing. They check it against the specifications for the size of the window to make sure that the factory didn’t mess up and end up having a window that is either too big or too small. They measure like three times to make sure everything fits. They are extremely thorough. I am very happy. We love the windows since they are easy to open. They are great.

It took them about 3 months to get the windows in. During that time no calls were made to us to let us know that things were progressing. Our initial salesman left the company so we were assigned to the district manager. I had to call every week to get an update. finally, after about 3 months the windows arrived and the guys came to install. After dismantling our front windows they realized the factory sent the wrong size and therefore had to add in tons of spacers to get this to fit properly. Still, no call from our sales guy or manager. I had to call, several times, to figure out what was up. The windows finally came back in after 3.5 weeks and should be installed this Saturday morning. I've expressed to the DM that I expect a discount on my final bill for all the troubles. We will see.

They were okay. We had a problem with one of the windows, when they installed it they broke it. We had a little bit of a problem getting that fixed time wise and otherwise. They ordered another window and the first time they sent the wrong window, it took them a while to get the right window and that type of thing. It seemed like several months before it was all said and done.

I think the product is excellent, but the installation I was not happy with. They chipped plaster on 13 out of 18 windows and they cracked 3 window sills. They offered to repair it, but I would still have to do all of the finished painting and priming and painting of all the cracked window sills. I love the windows I just had a rough installation.
