We had contract with Centex home at Woodland on February. The sales associate said it would take 6 months from beginning. The original finish date was June 28th, but it was changed to first week of July because of tree inspection. That was the first change of closing date. After that, I have gone to new house twice in a week to take pictures. Then I found the first problem. The first problem with new house was crack on foundation. It wasn't crack looked like usual spider web as they said. They said it isn't usual that concrete has crack like that, and independent foundation inspector said it is ok until the foundation has 1inch crack. We proceeded with this issue anyway, but missed the chance for pre-drywall inspection. We contacted the sales associate and builder several times, but they had poor communication with us. No phone call, Email, and texts response. I needed to go see them personally to get answers of my questions. On June, we talked with several loan companies to lock mortgage rate before final walk. After we locked the rate at the end of June, Centex changed closing date second time because they couldn't finish their job on time. We didn't know the exact date, so Centex decided to pay rate lock extension. The builder said new final walk would be July 10th, and closing date would be July 17th. However, we didn't do final walk on 10th, and waited until 17th to hear that new closing would be unknown due to tree inspection. This was the third time of changed closing date. From this point, my wife and I worried a lot since we already bought new appliances and the last day of apartment was July 31st. The apartment should have move out notice 60 days before actual move out. We couldn't extend our days on current apartment. Finally, the builder said everything was clear and the closing date would be July 29th. We hired our own home inspector to see any problems with new house. His inspection report pointed little stuffs and the builder fixed most of them before final walk. Even our realtor inspected with us. We did final walk on 25th with Brad, the building manager of Centex, and confirmed every appliances worked fine. He turned on all appliances in front of us. Next day, I reserved delivery day of new appliances and moving company. The original plan was moving out before 30th from apartment and cleaning it before the last minute. Also, my wife needed to go to San Antonio to serve Air Force duty on Aug 1st. Everything looked good before I got phone call 6:30 pm on 28th. Emilio, Sales associate of Centex in Austin, called and said that we had to change our closing date again due to stove issue although closing date has been changed three times already and I saw all appliances worked fine during our final walk. I was wondering why the stove had issue and he called us a day before closing date. When I went to our new house to see if it had other issue than stove after phone call, there were broken glasses around back yard. There has been broke in and both stove and microwave were stolen. The gate of backyard didn't have lock(the backyard gate and garage had locks on before final walk), so I guess thief came through that. Our new(I don't know how many times I have said that) closing date is 31st now. He said only thing we can do about changed closing date is complaining at final survey. Centex is not responsible about any other cost including extra moving expense although we gave moving out notice to current apartment two months ago. He lied to us and hide what happened to our house. Also, he said Centex is not responsible for our house and extra moving expense now. I have all pictures, texts, Emails, and documents from day 1. I can provide these any time. My wife and I struggle to clean this mess.I hope other people don't have the same experience as us.
