Absolute perfection!!! We wanted to add on to our closet but couldn't because of codes/streets etc. So this company came up with some very appealing ideas and we remodeled the bath, closet, bedroom and even added a little sitting room off the bedroom. Anything we wanted done, they made it work. There were some supporting walls that had to be dealt with and a lot of plumbing to move. All were taked care of and we could not be more pleased with the results. Do not hesitate to use this company. Janet Lewis

In a construction job this large in a older house unexpected issues come up and things don't always go smoothly. The way in which Dennis handles problems is one of the things that set him apart from other contractors. He is very handy and knows how to work on things himself. He was really good at problem solving, and time after time he figured out how to make something work when stressful situations arose. For example the porch lights were much too tall to fit into the space with the existing trim on the front of the house. The lighting store had given me the wrong dimensions for these fixtures, and I was worried about the cost of the repair work it would take to use them. He figured out an inexpensive way to make the lights fit. When the electrician's assistant couldn't put the new light kits on the existing ceiling fans he put them on. When the grout in the backsplash in the kitchen turned another color his tile man found an epoxy stain that made the grout the exact color I wanted. This brightened up the entire kitchen. There were so many examples of this kind of thing I can't mention them all. When this job started I knew very little about construction, but Dennis was very patient explaining the process to me when I had questions. He is totally honest, and was a real pleasure to work with. He was the perfect contractor for me. I'm picky and wanted things done right, but Dennis takes pride in his work and doesn't stop until everything meets his standards. He is the only contractor I'll ever use, and I would highly recommend him to anyone.
Description of Work: I had recently moved to Austin and had bought an older house dating from the early 60's that was in a great location and had potential, but the house needed updating and major repair. At the time I was looking for a contractor to do my job, and as luck would have it the designer I was working with gave me Dennis Gross' name at Castle Crafters LLC. When he came over to see the house he had excellent ideas such as using hardy planks on the front porch instead of wood because the hardy planks would last longer. I could see that he was very thorough even with the bidding process in that he brought out his plumber, framer and electrician a couple of times. He encouraged me to start making selections on materials I wanted to use such as tile, carpet, counter surfaces, plumbing, flooring so he could put my selections into a contract where I would know up front what I would be spending. Meanwhile I called his references and went to see their houses so I could see the type of work he did. Every one of his references raved about him and his work and said that he would be the only contractor they would ever use. After seeing the kind of work he did I could understand why they felt that way. It took three or four months for me to finalize my selections and to sign a contract. Over the course of those months my job evolved into a much bigger project than it was originally. The job included reconfiguring the kitchen, dining room, den, master bath and master closet to create a house that was in keeping with the way I wanted to live in it. This involved moving walls and relocating plumbing lines, no small undertaking. What had been a utility room became a pantry and what was once a closet in the garage became a utility room. Dennis brought in a structural engineer to make sure there was adequate support after removing walls. After demolition at first the house looked like a bombed out shelter, but after the sheet rock went up it started looking more like a house. Every week it looked better and now it's beautiful, a home I"ll always enjoy living in. All the crews that he used to do the various jobs were excellent, and some will always stand out in my mind. Ken, a huge strapping man could build anything with wood, and he custom built my pantry and cubbies for my closet. He was so strong he probably could have lifted the whole house without hurting himself. Then there was Manny who did all kinds of jobs and who always made me laugh.
