Capital foundations presents themselves as a reputable company. They give lifetime guarantees, they have the machinery to do really intense jobs and their crew members seem like really outstanding workers. What is truly despicable is the way their management has missed all of their promises to deliver. The job is a $100,000 job that was supposed to take 4-6 months. Our family was forced to move out of our house as we planned for six months. At five months, we asked when the job would be finished. Capital gave a firm September 15. We took their word and gave our notice at our temporary housing. Then, the crew stopped showing up. I would go by several times a day and no one was around. This went on for about a month. When my husband called to talk to the manager, he did not return his calls. When my husband asked the office manager, she would say that the crew was there and that the manager would call as soon as possible. September came and went and my family had to find another temporary spot, then another. It is now mid-November. It has been 8 1/2 months. All of our belongings are in storage. The three of us are living in a one bedroom because our savings are completely gone. Capital leisurely sends one crew to finish both sides and gives no promises or commitments. They just don't give a sh**. Capital has received $90,000 and has appeared to have almost abandoned us. They are absent of scruples and they practically steal your money while you and your family live in limbo. Go somewhere else. I'm sure the other companies can deliver their obligations far better than Capital Foundations.
Description of Work: A major, six month foundation repair that is not completed after 8 months.

This was a difficult job due to multiple slabs from adding onto the house a few times. Capital came highly recommended by two different structural engineers. Scheduling was problematic at first but the entire team was well-engaged once we got started. I am confident in their foundation repair quality, which uses the time-tested method of drilled poured piers to rock strata as recommended by my engineer. During the course of the job we discovered that we needed a couple more piers which they added at no extra cost; they also added fill dirt in a problematic area at no charge. They went to extra effort to minimize the disruption and mess caused by drilling the interior piers and to keep the jobsite safe for kids and dogs. They recommended that I retain an engineer to oversee the project, and worked closely with the engineer I selected. However I did have mixed thoughts about a few things. They tore my fence gate from its hinge with rough handling, and they caused surface damage to my deck while pressure washing, and they failed to securely re-attach some deck boards upon job completion, and most importantly they failed to give me a single, consistent set of final elevations at each pier despite three requests in the closing days of the job. I mentioned each of these concerns but Capital declined to accept ownership of these problems. So, am I satisfied with the overall job, especially as compared to various competing bids? Definitely yes. Do they appear to have done a great job on the foundation? Also yes. But I am disappointed that they got sloppy on highly visible minor issues in the closing days of the job.
Description of Work: Install drilled poured exterior piers around perimeter of house and interior piers along two slab joints to stabilize the house and lift certain areas by a couple of inches.

The man said he would have his boss contact me about foundation work, but I never heard from them. I chose to look into other companies.

One of those time-wasting contractors that never calls back. Sent a guy out, real friendly, said he would send estimate in a few days, never got one. Called office at least 3 times. Real friendly receptionist apologized and said they would get right back. Never did all 3 times. I asked them to tell me that, if they weren't interested in my job, to let me know so I could get someone else. "No problem, we'll let you know" I was told. Never called back.
Description of Work: Asked for bid on removing old patio, pouring new concrete patio or foundation.

Mr Okorn arrived on time, was very knowledgeable and professional. There were some serious wall cracks and joint separations, so at the suggestion of a structural engineer, I contacted Capital Foundation Repair. After measuring the foundation slopes and movement he determined that the foundation was somewhat stable, had not had significant movement for years and did not need repair work at this time. Having researched foundation repair companies in and around Austin, Capital Foundation came to me with very high recommendations. Even though there was no work performed, I feel confident that had work been contracted it would have been first class and to the best standards. My experience was somewhat soured by the fact that Mr. Okorn offered to furnish me with a letter outlining his findings and recommending that no work was necessary at this time. Since I want to sell my house, I was very appreciative of his offer. However, it took EIGHT WEEKS to get the letter from Mr. Okorn, who doesn't take phone calls and apparently doesn't give much credence to setting priorities. The experience of getting that letter was VERY frustrating. It's certainly not illegal to practice poor organizational skills, but be warned, Mr. Okorn has his own cadence that he marches to, and if you are doing business with him, it could be as frustrating as my experience. In all fairness to Mr. Okorn, that's not a reason to not do business with his company.
Description of Work: Greg Okorn measured house movement to determine the need and extent to which the foundation would need repair/leveling.

From the initial estimate to the final landscaping repairs, this company demonstrated an exceptional level of professionalism. Email and telephone contact was available as needed. All personnel were good humored and great to work with. This work is very labor intensive and required moving out most of the home furnishings for about eight weeks. Holes were drilled with big equipment, concrete was poured and set, all in preparation for actual leveling. The crew knew where to set the jacks and how to position the support piers, as confirmed by an independent engineer I engaged to give me peace of mind when spending so much money. Now that the job is finished, the floor is level, doors and windows work, and I am completely satisfied. Like most companies who repair foundations, Capital provides a warranty but as I ask my neighbors -- do you really want the crew to have to come back? I don't expect to ever need any more foundation work, come drought or high water!
Description of Work: My house in University Hills had a very common slab defect for this area-- 60-yr old under-slab cast iron water pipes failed, and the resulting water leakage caused heaving and settling of the foundation. Capital Foundations was neither the low nor the high bidder but they proved that they were the best prepared to do the job. The project required drilling through the slab and setting steel-reinforced concrete piers down 18 feet. In addition to the interior piers, more were set around the perimeter of the property (total of 37 piers). Where shrubs and plants were in the way, the crew moved them, set them in pots, and replaced them after the job. All plants have survived and the exterior is virtually unscathed.

I received an estimate for a limited job that was small relative to most foundation repair jobs. When I had questions about the job, an absurd number of phone calls went unanswered. Even if I wanted to accept the bid and start the job, that decision not to use Capital Foundations was made for me. Perhaps they got busy with other larger jobs, and no longer wanted to take on this job. Whatever the case, I found it unprofessional to simply ignore repeated calls from a potential customer.
Description of Work: The job was to level a porch on a pier-and-beam foundation. An estimate was made, but no work was performed due to non-communication of the company.
