A day after giving him the deposit, Ian called me and informed me he had ordered all the materials and the lumberyard will deliver it to my house on Friday morning. Ian told me he would have a crew at my house when the materials arrive to move the materials to the back of the house. Friday afternoon I got home around 2pm to find the materials (Composite decking, Cedar decking, concrete bags concrete blocks etc) in the street in front of my house. Needless to say I was pretty upset with seeing the expensive material just laying in the street. I called Ian and asked why the material was in the street Ian claimed the lumberyard was suppose to call him when they were on their way to deliver the materials and he never received a phone call. Ian said he would send someone to move the materials. Nobody arrived from the company until after 5:30 pm. Ian did come out the next day and started on the frames for deck. On Monday Ian called and said he would not be able to come out because of car trouble. Tuesday he called and said he could not come out because of personal issues. This happened a few times where he would only come out for a couple of hours then he would have to leave because of various reasons. The work he did appeared to be good and he had good craftsmanship but it was taking too long to complete and we needed the project done before labor day. As the project was getting closer to completion Ian started asking me for advancements on what I owed him. He claimed he needed to pay his workers and needed money to cover some of the costs of the project. We gave him the money only because we wanted the project to be competed. Ian did complete the project in time but he could have been done a week before if he had devoted the appropriate time to our project. Overall the quality of work appears to be pretty good but the business side of Bluebonnet Home Services needs work. The punctuality was poor, communication was poor and the final price ended up being a few hundred dollars more that the estimate he gave us. Although the quality of work was good we would not hire Bluebonnet Home Services again unless there was a major change on how they conduct business.
Description of Work: We were recommended to Bluebonnet Services by a local lumberyard that we visited when we wanted to build our deck. We called the number and met Ian the owner. Ian came out the next day made some measurements, gave us some different options on how to build the deck and gave us a general cost. After a couple of days we decided on what we wanted (design, material) and we asked him if could have it done by Labor Day weekend. It was two and a half weeks away and Ian said it wouldnt be a problem. Ian also gave us a more accurate estimate and asked for a 50% deposit. We obliged and gave him the deposit. We asked for a 12x15 size deck on one side of our covered back porch and a 14x15 size deck with built in benches on the other side of the covered porch. Both sides had rails and ballisters installed. Ian ordered all the materials from the lumber yard and arranged to have the materials delivered to our home. It appeared Ian did a good job of ordering all the appropriate materials. We also asked Ian to install a ceiling fan on the back porch and cut a gate into the fence on the side of the house which he did at the conclusion of the project.

We met him by coincidence as he was visiting a resident at one of our properties two years ago. Still using his services today.
Description of Work: Ian of Bluebonnet has helped our family business with several projects. We own many rentals throughout Austin and call him whenever we need make-readies or renovations done on our properties. He's re-built countless fences, decks and interiors. He'll replace fans, busted doors, etc. (Our tenants seem to be good at putting holes through their doors.) The only trouble we've had at times is that he's often too booked up for small jobs like faucet repair or general maintenance. We undertand this delay, but sometimes have to sub-out the small stuff to strictly handymen. His crew gets the job done and done well. It's nice to have him working on every job personally. We recommend that if you have several small household projects, to lump them all together and get them knocked out. We'll be using him as long as he remains in this area. Clean and solid work.
