During a recent storm several large branches broke off one of our back yard elms. My son was able to remove it from the deck, but the break at the main trunk was out of his range. I called Best Tree Care as they'd been recommended by several in our neighborhood. Brad came out the Monday (storm on Friday night) and we talked about the trees in the yard and what needed to be done. They had not been trimmed in many years, except for the City's V-cut approach. His estimate was prompt and lower than expected. They started on the elm the next morning. The rest would be done as their schedule permitted. A week later Brad called and said they could come that afternoon. Six men. Two trucks. Two chippers. It is interesting to watch them move in the trees as the men are highly skilled. Brad was there at the beginning, but his crew knew what to do and how to do it. They removed dead wood and low hanging branches. They opened up the canopy to allow light into the tree. It did change the shade patterns on our deck, and I will have to reposition a dozen or so potted plants. But the trees look like trees now. You can see the trunks. They are once again proud to be trees! (I know that sounds silly, but really they look proud.) Every trig, branch, limb was cleared. Deck was swept both times they were here. Estimate matched the invoice. Very glad we called Best Tree Care!
Description of Work: Six trees were trimmed, one due damage in a recent storm.

Done as a fall clean-up with precision and artistry. Large crew of experts arrived early and on time. Did what I had discussed with them. Very professional. Deep root fertilization done on a separate day.

These guys were great. The owner who is a certified arborist came out with his crew. I was very concerned about the look of our front yard tree. It is over 100 years old. I wanted a very and quot;artisticand quot; look. He did a wonderful job. I am thrilled with how it looks. I am scheduling them now for fertilizing of my trees and pruning throughout the year.
Description of Work: They trimmed our trees all the way around the house. I asked them to do an "artistic" look for our front yard tree.

Description of Work: 2nd year i had to cut down trees that had fallen from drought. Both times excellent service. Way better bid than anyone plus tree removal! They have their own wood chipper! At the end of the week of April 26 2010, I received an at-home estimate from Brad at Best Tree Care, LLC for some tree and large bush trimming work at my house. I was in the process of gathering estimates and recommendations on what action to take in particular with one tree and two unyieldy bushes. I did not agree for Brad to perform any work. After meeting with brad outside my home, I asked Brad to send me an email with his estimate and proposal. I told Brad that I would reply to that email when I decided what to do. I was surprised to find when I returned home from work on May 4 that the work was completed. I did not receive any communication (bill, email, mail) for this work until Oct. 15. I did not contact Brad beforehand because I assumed that Brad realized his mistake, and decided not to waste his time on the issue. On the other hand, if he wanted to try to bill me than the o*** was on him to contact with me. However, I was surprised to find a "Final notice" note on my door on Oct. 15, despite the fact that I had received no earlier notices. I called Brad the next week to discuss the issue and calmy explained to him that I had not agreed to have this work done nor had I seen any other bill or email from him. He immediately became irate, yelled at me and accused me of lying. He yelled that that he had sent me multiple emails and mailed me the bill, none of which I received. I asked him to provide some evidence that I had authorized the work, so that, in the .001% chance I am remembering incorrectly, I would have something to jog my memory. He refused and told me that "this would cost me" because the only way he would do this is through a collections agency and that I would be liable for attorney's fees. Next, despite the fact that I did not authorize his work and I hadn't decided exactly to what extent I wanted to trim three items, I offered to pay him a reduced amount because his unsolicited services did provide some value to me. To this, he responded that he won't negotiate with me. At this point, I don't see any point in communicating further with him. I will take this to court if necessary because I won't be bullied around by a company who is billing me for work I did not authorize and further refuses to provide any evidence that I authorized it.

It was good. He had a trained crew here. The president comes out and does the bid, then starts the crew cutting limbs. They did a beautiful job of shaping my trees.

My husband and I were very impressed with the job and the cleanup afterwords. We will be using them again in the future.
Description of Work: We had a Hack berry tree that was spit in the middle and in danger of falling on our house. Brad’s crew came out and did an excellent job cutting down the dying tree and trimming branches on the Lace Bark Elm trees.

Brad responded to my call promptly and provided a quote the next day. His crew arrived on time as promised and did all of the work in one day. They removed one large red oak tree from my back yard and trimmed about five other large live oak trees. They also removed some small stumps and small cedars. I am very pleased with their work. The trees look better than I thought they would. I was also impressed with how well they cleaned up my yard and driveway when they were through. I would definitely use them again.

Kevin came out and gave the original estimate - there were some problems getting it via email. Once scheduled he came out with the crew and explained to them what needed to be done and left. I assumed he would be back at the end of the day for payment and to evaluate the work. The crew members worked very hard and it was extremely hot that day. However, they would not cut a limb off the Oak because they said it was on the neighbors side and when they were trimming that tree a limb fell and broke a fence board. The trimming on the Yaupons and Photinia was done, but in my opinion they did not go the "extra mile" to make it look good. The work overall was adequate, but nothing spectacular in terms of appearance. The worst part of this whole experience was a mix-up about the invoice. When Kevin did not return at the end of the day I expected to be billed for the service. A few weeks later I got an irate call from the owner, Brad, accusing me of trying to avoid payment. I immediately told him that I had not received any bill from their company and was about to call and check on it. He told me that he had sent me several bills via email. I told him (in the same tone that he had used with me ) that I had been having computer problems and that my computer had a virus and had been in the shop for over a month, due to someone attempting to hack into one of my accounts. Everything had been shut down and accounts closed. I asked him why he hadn't mailed me a notice when he hadn't heard anything and he shouted at me that their policy was not to mail a bill unless the customer had requested one in advance. I tried to explain to him that he was being very rude and this was not the way to handle a customer. I told him I would give him a credit card number. During this time he continued to berate me and when I defended myself he threatened to put a lien on my house and then hung up. I took a few deep breaths, called him back immediately and gave him the number of my credit card. I told him during the previous call that because of his attitude and belligerence I would not be able to recommend his company favorably on Angie's List or to anyone who asks who trimmed the trees nor would I be able to use them for a large tree trimming project out at our ranch in Liberty Hill that I had discussed with his arborist. I hope he has recognized the error of his ways.
Description of Work: Large Oak tree needed clearing from roof, Juniper removed, Photinia along driveway and sidewalk needed to be trimmed back, Crepe Myrtle clearing from roof and gutter, Mesquite tree needed trimming, Holly bushes removed and Yaupon Hollies needed shaping.

Response from Best Tree Care
We do take great pride in our customer experience and wish things could have had a better turn out. Customer did continuously ask employees to do work that was not contracted during job. Employees know not to do anything without approval from an arborist. Customer was over a month past due on payment from multiple emails that she had requested as provide with voice mails as well. Sorry but the whole transaction was customer wanting something for Nothing. FREE. We have learned from this experience and better try avoiding this situation.

Excellent Price. $300 cheaper than closest other estimate. And this is a company that has a certified arborist supervising the work of the crew. Even waited for my approval for removal of some branches. Convenient to work with, estimated work without my presence at my home and emailed the estimate. Cleaned up very thoroughly.

Best gave the estimate and did the work inside a week. They left my yard better than they found it. I was very satisfied with the work.
Description of Work: I asked Best Tree Svc to look at all of the trees in my yard and make them more healthly and get all branches away from the house. Due to the extremely wet conditions, I have several pecan trees that were overburdened with growth.

This was my first time using the company and I think they did an excellent job as they left the trees looking pretty good. We were very satisfied with the work that was done. They cleaned up all debris at the end of the job.
Description of Work: We had them remove a tree and trim another tree. One tree was in the front and one was at the side.
