It was good. He was very friendly and did a thorough job. He cleaned up when he finished. It was a straightforward job.

I use them quite a bit and I’m always happy with them. They’re my go-to handymen at this point because they’re reliable, quick, and get the job done right the first time. There were no issues with scheduling, either.

Mike did a fine job. Prompt and professional. Recommend to anyone.

It was fine. Everything was outstanding. The professionalism, the reliability, the attention to detail and competence were outstanding. Price was fair.

Provider was supposed to be at my home at 11 am on 8/27 to give me an estimate on work to be performed. I took off work to be home at the appointed time. They failed to show up. They failed to call. I called them and they did not answer the phone nor respond to my message. It's a week later and still no call. I am disappointed...as they are supposed to be good at what they do.

The project went extremely well. The project was finished on time. The on site supervisor (Michael Terry) and his crew were punctual, efficient, and thorough.

Went very well, did what ask to be done, was on time and didn't leave a mess.

The work was done poorly and wasn't very professional. They did offer to fix it so my grade of C is only for the work and not the company. I declined to have them back out.

The company did not follow up after providing quote for work. After nearly 2 weeks I had to contact them to schedule work. I had told them that this was a matter of urgency since my back door was broken and would not lock. Despite providing sizing specifications, they did not perform any size checks and it required them to get 3 doors before we got it right. The contractor sent text several days before the job giving the indication that he wanted more details, but would not answer text or phone when I tried to provide additional details before the work. They also did not get the right components. The project was hourly and they kept not getting the right materials even though I had suggested what materials I thought they would need to complete the work. I even bought them lunch and went out for materials that they should have known to get. The job took too long, and I am certain I was overcharged. Even though I had paid for the service, I was asked for more money in cash. At this point I was simply too exhausted in handling them at every turn. Without my presence they would have done a completely horrible job. The assistant working on the job was great and I would use in future work. As it is, I still have to repair the door stripping damage and install the dead bolt locking plate myself. I am also trying to confirm with their billing department if one of the doors that had to be returned was actually returned (The contractor's lack of attention to details did not leave me with the greatest confidence that this would be the case). I would definitely suggest using different company. The reviews on angies list for this company are misleading. While my experience may not be typical, from the poorly managed process I suspect it is not unique. Consider yourself warned. Update: After spending months trying to resolve the issue, I contacted my credit card company to have the charge removed as they were on responsive to my case. I had the charge successfully removed and documented. Yesterday, 1/22/15, someone from them called regarding payment for services because they received a charge back for the work. I told them I had tried to resolve this issue before with them and now (many months later) they want to talk to me about resolving this balance. That they cared about my issue. I told them it was too late and that they were being disingenuous. I wasn't giving them a dime. They indicated they would submit to collections, which I told them to do so as I have the credit card proof indicating resolution of this issue. I want to escalate this with angies list, and am very tempted to file a harassment claim against them. I have never had an experience with a company this aweful.

I've used this company twice and received excellent service from the same guy, George. George is really a great handyman. He does it all. He has painted for me in the past, but this time he did some electrical repairs and installed two dog doors (one into a metal core door, which is a pain). George arrived on time and took care of all the repairs I had lined up for him well before when I thought he would be finished. He repaired some really sketchy drawers and cabinets that a contractor did a terrible job on. George did everything I had on my list and also "took a look" at some other issues for me and told me how to complete some of the repairs myself. Good guy, hard worker and terrific handyman. I also love that George tells me his weakness - I'm not so great at plumbing - well, George fixed two leaks for me now in a few minutes saving me the dreaded plumber trip charge. He also said he wasn't a great painter, but on my other job he did a fantastic job. Austin Handyman has a gem with this guy! I'll continue to use the company and will always ask for George!

The repairman/handyman tried to repair the ceiling light/fan that they had installed about 1 year earlier for me when I first bought my condo. Evidently the transmitter quit working because the light switch on the wall kept getting flipped when the remote control should have been used to turn the light/fan on and off. Anyway, I was told that I needed a new transmitter to repair two that they had installed for me. I ordered the two transmitters and attempted to call Austin's Best Handyman several times to set up a time for them to come out and replace both transmitters. They have not attempted to return any of my calls to date. It's been months. If they did not want to do the work, they should have told me this in the first place. It's not like I haven't paid them for all the work they have done for me since I bought my condo over 2 years ago now and I had them do quite a bit of upgrading for me. I don't know what their problem is, but I will not be using them again....and I still need more work in my condo done (updating 2 full baths and a power room, plus painting of a stair case). Too bad for them...loss of a good paying customer.

Great job and completely satisfied. Would recommend them and use again.

Called them three times during business hours and they never called me back. IF you are looking to buy a service and then have to go through the hassle of getting your money back from AL, then this is the service for you!

We completed one round of work with them in May that included the above mentioned work. Price was excellent and work was done extremely well. Had some glitches with the masonry contractor no-showing on a Saturday, and they apparently do not take calls on weekends because we weren't able to get to the bottom of why the masonry contractor did not show. That job was rescheduled and the work went off without a further hitch. We wanted them to quote some followup work and the owner stated that they would be out August 15th to visit the home and to get the job details and put together an estimate. We left a voicemail the day before confirming the appointment, but they were a no show and we did not find out that they did not show until the August 19th. Since the first round of work, we moved from the home where they were scheduled to do our follow-up work as we are selling that home and were looking to engage them for additional repairs as the result of an inspection, so we didn't even know about their no-show until they called the morning of the 19th as I explained above. We have since spoken to Barrett who was very nice and very apologetic,and I would like to give them the benefit of the doubt with the no show, although it is imperative that they improve their communication standards.

They were all about schedule the estimate visit for 9am on a Monday, but didn't the owner, Barrett Cristo, didn't show up. Tried to call twice, during business hours, to reschedule or hear their excuse and it seems they're not working during business hours today.

They were very nice and did provide me with a design and estimate. Their estimate was extremely high and also was over double than the 3 other bids that I had received. Their original estimate was almost $7400 and the other estimates that I got were more around $3000 and that included plants. Then they did come down on their price a bit, but still not enough.

Have nothing but praise for George. He was AWESOME. I was extremely frustrated with the office. After paying in advance I found it impossible to reach them to set up an appt. even after leaving messages I never got a return call. After nearly 3 weeks of trying someone finally answered the phone. The woman I spoke with neither apologized for the lack of response or accessibility, and even seemed put out to schedule a time. I attempted to reach the office many times after to confirm my service date and make some changes to the services I needed but once again was never able to reach anyone during business hours and never received a single return call since paying for the service thru Angie's List. I was very thankful when George arrived and as I said he was wonderful. I would use them again only if George was the serviceman. George told me they were having some computer issues which perhaps explains the lack of responsiveness from office. I WOULD trust George with any service I required. Five stars for George!!

I really wanted to like this company. The owner is great-- very personable. However, I will not use them again because of poor communication regarding billing. I received fuzzy numbers on two different invoices without any explanation where they made up these numbers. In particular, a quote regarding popcorn ceiling. I was initially quoted $2/sf. After two men came to my house and three weeks later, I was quoted $2.50-- with no explanation for the extra $500 I would be billed. I would pay extra if I understood why, but my request for an explanation was ignored. I had no asbestos, ceiling heights were normal-- in other words, I feel like their pricing is arbitrary. I wish that I would have been given an honest answer from the beginning, rather than wasting my time. I did have the handyman come to my house to fix wood rot. I went to Home Depot to buy supplies ahead of time to save myself being billed a trip charge. The handyman didn't come prepared with supplies (although he knew exactly what the project was) and had to go to Home Depot anyway, getting lost along the way. The invoice again surprised me as being higher than I expected. The handyman was a bit average in terms of work he did-- not a thorough job, and he was texting the last fifteen minutes at my house (which I'm sure I got billed for). He left the work area a mess. Having had two mediocre experiences with this company so far, and I'm going to look elsewhere to remodel my house.

Tyler came out within a day to look at the job and take photos. He then conveyed that information to the office. I explained that I am in a time crunch as I'm putting my home on the market and asked if they could hurry the process and get me the cost estimate and scheduling choices asap. Tyler said their guy who does sheetrock is so professional and it might not be for at least a week before he could come out. I told him at that time if that was the case I would have to find someone else. Soon afterwards Tyler called and said "Frank" would come out Wednesday evening and it would be 4 hours for $275. As I've been busy with other service providers coming and going and doctor's appointments, I missed Frank's call saying he wouldn't be able to come that evening due to a health emergency. However, that evening I found his message on my iPhone and called his number (which I'd not had before) and he explained. I asked if was well enough to come the next day (8/14) and he said he would be here at noon. I told him I, myself, had a doctor's appointment and had to leave at 12:40 so he had to be on time. Frank arrived a few minutes after 12 and I showed him the job. His first remark was, 'I should be able to finish this in an hour, or an hour and 15 minutes tops.' I said, well, that's wonderful. I told him I would be home about 2:10 and he said 'I'll be gone when you get back.' I didn't really expect him to finish that quickly but explained that the front door and garage door were closed/locked and instructed him to leave by the back door and side gate if I wasn't home before he was finished. I got home and was almost afraid to go upstairs to look as, just as he said he would be gone when I returned home. I went upstairs and looked at the work he'd done and was amazed. It was all done as I'd instructed and the texturing matched perfectly. I called the painter to let him know the work was done so professionally that the room was now ready for him to come this morning (which had to be rescheduled). I'd phoned the office Wednesday evening before seeing Frank's earlier message to ask why he hadn't shown up. Then again first thing on Thursday to explain I'd talked to Frank and he was coming at noon. Probably 10 minutes after Frank arrived, Tyler phoned to check to see everything was okay and I told him Frank was there and I had to leave but was concerned that the estimate was for 4 hours for $275 and that Frank said he would be done in a little more than an hour. I had not purchased the Angie's Deal ($79/2 hrs handyman services) because I didn't know for sure if the company could work me into their schedule and I would have to continue to search Angie's List for someone else. Tyler said no problem, they would honor it for me and charge me based on how long it took Frank to do the job. The total invoice is $89. and I'm very pleased with not only Best Handyman & Remodeling getting me squeezed into their schedule (which was biggest stress) but also their fairness in making sure I paid for only the time it took to complete the job. Frank brought his wife with him and they worked as a team (both skilled in what they do). My painter had patched some nail holes the day before so had prepped the entire room with plastic and fabric covering to protect all carpet and contents -- which I'm sure helped Frank to get 'right to it' so to speak. It's a happy ending due to using another professional company from Angie's List. I'm so grateful.

It turned out good. They did respond but it took several weeks before they could get to the job because they were so busy. They sent one person out to do the job.

It was fine. They sent 2 people out to do the job. The scheduling was pretty timely.

The handyman was great and communicated well with me, but the main office was VERY hard to reach to make an appointment. Different people were returning my call and obviously not talking to one another.

Contacted provider after purchasing a big deal and provider never responded to my request for an appt.

Our handyman George was awesome. I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone who is in need of handyman services.

The contractor arrived on time. We reviewed the work, which in my case was to rebuild some wooden stair handrails that had rotted out, and repair the wooden railing around my front porch. He recommended that the handrail on the steps be completely rebuilt (the anchor posts had rotted out of the ground), but the railing around the front porch was largely salvagable (we only needed to replace the top board). After the consultation, he went to purchase supplies and got to work. I had purchased the "4 hours for $149" coupon. The job ultimately took about 6 hours, mainly due to the railings that had to be rebuilt from scratch. He also had to buy about ~$80 worth of lumber. He had his tools (circular saw, etc.) with him, and cut the pieces on the front lawn. After he was finished, he hauled all of the scraps and such away, leaving my front yard clear of debris. One word of note regarding this coupon: it only covers labor, not materials. Any wood or additional supplies that need to be purchased in order to complete the job, you are responsible for. Overall, I'm very happy with the quality of workmanship and the ease of working with this contractor. I'm actually going to use them again to repair my upstairs balcony railing.
