Description of Work: My mother and I share a house. We asked Mr. Bennett for an estimate to re-wire the house for cable as TWC was upgrading it's service and the way our house was currently wired was inadequate. TWC told us that we would have to hire someone to re-wire the whole house. | |Mr. Bennett arrived on time and checked out our house. He gave us a ballpark figure to re-wire the house, but told us he didn't think it was necessary for what we wanted to accomplish, which was better cable reception. He offered an alternative solution to total re-wiring, which was much more reasonable but did not utilize Mr. Bennett's service. Based on Mr. Bennett's advice, TWC did some minor re-wiring at little cost to us. | |More than anything, I appreciated Mr. Bennett's honesty and willingness to help us out and not try to take advantage of two single ladies. Thank you, Mr. Bennett.

Called the provider for a quote on a structured wiring job in the house. He scheduled a time to come out. He appeared on time and was professional in assessing the job. He said he would have a quote to me the next day. Still waiting on that quote. His responsiveness in the original visit was great. The followup was an F. I went with another group. In short. without the quote, it wasted my time in calling him up and my time in the assessment process to get a quote. Edited: Felt necessary to add that Mr Bennett followed up with me personally subsequent to this review. Based on that I have amended my review. His personal email to me is noted below: "I would like to offer my sincere apologies for falling short and wasting your time. I ended up in a doctor?s office that afternoon and subsequently on mediation and Doctors care for the following ten days with serious side effects. I was apparently very sick without realizing it was more than a cold. While I understand that this is not your concern or problem, I wanted you to know that there were extenuating circumstances that prevented me from completing my proposal and follow through." Wit all respect I commend him for this highly personal follow up.

Thank you for your review. It is never our intention to not follow through. I see that we met on January 7th for the review the project at your home at 9 am. I ended up very sick and subsequently under doctors care for the following ten days. Unfortunately I clearly dropped the ball on following through with you. I am happy to read that your project has been taken care of. I would like to offer my sincere apologies for the lack of follow through on your proposal. Our goal and mission to to provide exemplary customer service, attention to detail and follow through. Which, we clearly did not meet in your case.

He took care of our TV equipment and problems that we were having. We were no longer connected properly and he got us new equipment. He worked very hard to try to resolve our issues. He was sweating up in the attic working very hard running wireds and things. They fixed all the issues they found. They did a good job.
Description of Work: We used Bennett Technologies to fix the issue in our TV. He took care of the outdoor speakers that were not working properly. He made sure that our cable would work properly.

We bought a new house back in June. My wife gave me strict instructions that she did not want to see "any" wires so decided I needed a professional. I called Bennett Technologies. They were awesome! The only equipment you can see in either room is the TV itself. Not a wire, cable or even a dvd player is visible. If you want a superb job and a very happy wife then this is the company to use.
Description of Work: They mounted a TV in the Master as well as in the Living Room. They had to punch thru walls and do extensive cabling so the equipment was in different room than TV and Speakers.

Description of Work: I did not use Bennett Technologies because their pricing is too high compared to others for the same job. Their quote for routing my surround sound system + equipment was close to $7000 while the other charged me $3000. I went with Austin Home Theatre and Security. They not only did a great job but also offered a better equipments (i.e. home theater receiver, speakers).

Response from Bennett Technologies
We have reviewed our proposal and without seeing the proposal or equipment list from the other vendors, it is impossible to state that they received the exact same work or equipment as what we had proposed. In fact, our actual product cost(without profit factored in), not including labor was higher than the amount this individual stated they were having the work completed for (considerably more than 50% of the proposal total) During out initial consulation we requested a budget amount that this client would like to keep the project within, however he would not provide one, so our proposal was designed to be all inclusive and in the middle spectrum for both the wire work, and the equipment list. This project was also 100% retrofit, meaning, this was not new construction and required some of the wiring to be located downstairs and a fair amount upstairs, the surround speaker wiring was to be run from one side of the room where the equipment was to be located, up to the second story attic, across the home and down the opposite wall (for the rear surrounds). The remainder of the bedrooms were to receive various wire drops and have them all terminated into a central wiring can while minimizing wall repair in a completly finished home. Everything from wire guage, to connnectors and all of the equipment is available in varying grades. We do not use inferior or budget equipment to save cost as it will end up failing over time requiring repair work, which we perform (for others) on a fairly regular basis. We can tailor any project into almost any buget category when given the information to do so. If the client had been more communicative and stated that they wanted a solution for half of the original bid, we would have searched through the hundreds of thousands of products we carry and found a solution that was right for them in the price range they were comfortable spending or informed them that they had a better deal. We do not try to be the lowest priced vendor, nor are we the highest priced vendor. We try to keep our pricing in a balanced manner that provides a balanced value play for each project, while allowing us to continue to operate and make a living. Further more, as for speaker quality, the products we specified are one of the only brands that offer a lifetime warranty and the receiver the individual quoted that they were installing from the other vendor was not regarded as superior to the product we were offering on our propsal. We suggest that all potential clients make sure you are dealing with a legitimate company, not a trunk slammer or moonlighter. Make sure they carry business liability insurance, workmans compensation insurance and are a legitimate company that engages in continuing education and your communities. In addition, have a budget in mind, and share that with your vendor. It is important that we are on the same page for finding not only a customized solution for your needs, but one that will fit within the buget you are hoping to spend.

Bennett and I agreed to meet at my house a couple of times. He missed appointments. Said he didnt get my voice mails (which I left) and then said he mis-programmed the second date in his cell phone. Then, we did meet for over and hour and his consultation was pretty good technically. He promised a quote within a day or two. Fully 10 days later he contacted me over email asking, "do you still want a quote, I have been sick for a few days". Since he had ignored me, I ignored him at this point. I ended up getting the job done by a professional who was way more responsive and who followed through on everything he committed to.
Description of Work: I was trying to invite Bennett to assess my home theater needs and prepare a proposal.

The customer is partially correct, in that, I ended up seriously sick for about 3 weeks, including while I contacted him in regards to not getting his quote out, however, as for the appointments, we did not miss any appointments whatsoever. He and I made contact via email on December 1, 2011 where I introduced my self as not only a vendor, but a fellow resident in the same community. He requested an appointment time outside of our normal working hours (Saturday AM at 10) where we happened to already have an appointment scheduled to assist a contractor in need. I agreed to contact him when I left that appointment and headed back to the community where he resides. I did so by phone and when I did not hear back, I sent an email at 12:35 pm Saturday December 3rd, 2011 stating that I had not heard back from him, with the question of whether we were still meeting, at 12:58 he responded that " I had thought so, I had returned your message. Been at the house for over an hour"...We did not receive a message by phone or email prior to that point so...Which is a typical problem we combat when people utilize their Cell Phones to leave messages. That said, the missed meeting was in my opinion a joint effort of mis communication. We did meet at the home and the appointment went smooth and took approximately and hour. As for a quote, we did promise a day or two (starting on Monday, as Vendors are not open for product pricing or inquiries on Saturdays and Sundays). Unfortunately I did end up down with an illness and contacted him when I was first able to. We had worked on his quote in the mean time and still needed some additional information on the Projector he originally inquired about, and sent an email apologizing for the delay and that I would have it out the following day, and asked if this will be ok. At that point we never did receive a response, so we abandoned the time invested in this client ( 1 hour weekend appointment and 4 1/2 hours of vendor phone calls and proposal generation). We do aim to provide the highest level of service any company can offer and sometimes life throws a curve ball such as an illness whereby it becomes difficult to follow through. I regret not having been in a position to not follow through on the proposal in the time frame we quoted, and have now instituted a minimum time frame that we will utilize for proposal generation if the potential client is able to wait. I would like to also add, that our online reviews, client testimonials and continued referrals speak volumes for not only the quality of our work, but the professionalism we strive for at all times. I do wish the client had chosen to address this in person instead of writing in a public forum as we would have bent over backwards to accommodate their needs and made amends for our dropping the ball.

Bennett devised a comprehensive estimate that included all parts needed, as well as labor to perform the work. During one of Austin's hottest summers in history, they spent hours in my attic running cable. At all times the technicians were cheerful, charming, and professional. The work was also beautifully done, and they cleaned up after themselves as they went, taking care to make sure my cat was safe. Before they left, they made sure that everything worked and that we were satisfied.
Description of Work: We moved to an existing home and needed to have a home computer network set up, as well as home theater speakers, and a phone line run to a utility room.

We wanted to finish out our upstairs space to be a proper media room. We called in Michael with Bennett Technologies to figure out exactly what we would need, what our options were, what the cost would be, etc. He took great care to educate us on all the choices and help us understand the cost differentials as you stepped up or down in equipment. He even brought us to his own personal home theatre so we could experience a particular sounds system that we were considering installing! Once we made our selections and were ready to move forward, it could not have gone more smoothly. He was great at communicating the process and timing, His team showed up when they were scheduled and completed the work in the time frame they told us they would. The workmanship was impeccable! And everything was completed within the budget we had agreed to. Michael himself came out and programmed the whole system so that it all works, very simply, off one central remote. AND he protected it so my kids can't inadvertently 'reprogram it' when they are up there themselves. As someone who is not overly tech savvy myself, this is the feature I appreciate the most! I would absolute work with Michael and his team again and have no hesitation recommending them to anyone else. I work in a field where I have daily interface with contractors and vendors and I can honestly say that Michael is one of the best. It's so refreshing to be able to turn the project over to someone who manages it impeccably from start to finish!
Description of Work: Michael Bennett and his team designed and installed our home theater. That included helping configure the optimal layout of the room, recommending the proper equipment and placement of the equipment to optimize the viewing / sound, purchasing and installing all the equipment, building a raised platform for some theater seating we were purchasing and programming all the equipment. He did a great job placing everything into the walls so that the final look is very clean!

Unfortunately, I didn't know of this company when I had my home wired for home automation and an alarm system during construction. I went with a larger well-know service. The other company botched the job so badly that my alarm system would randomly go off throughout the night repeatedly - waking my entire family. After multiple calls to the alarm company and the other installer, with little to no responsiveness on their part, I finally decided to make a change. I called Bennett Technologies. Michael Bennett came out himself and fixed my system in a very short period of time. He was professional, considerate and incredibly competent. I feel like the other company was just an installer (and a bad one at that!), but, Mr. Bennett is truly an integrator!
