I think they did a great job and their prices are very competitive. We had one problem for which they came back but it turned out to be an electrical problem, not anything they did or didn't do but they didn't charge me for it. I would use them again as they are local, well-priced and did a good job!
Description of Work: I called and they offered to come out the same day. I had them do a garage door tuneup which they offered as a special on Angie's list and they did it for that price. I then determined that we wanted more than a tuneup and they came back and did additional work at an agreed upon price with a discount since I had 2 doors and had just used them.

The initial call with the owner was pleasant. He was informative and not pushy. After calling other service providers on Angie's List, I felt most comfortable with this company based on my call, past reviews, and the price. I called the owner at around 1:00pm Wednesday, and he stated that a technician would arrive for install the same day between 4-5pm. I was told I would receive a call in advance, as I had yet to move in. I did not receive a call. Not knowing if they would follow my request I drove to my home, in case the instruction to call was not relayed to the tech. At 4:31 I received a call from the owner. The technician was tied up and would not make the appointment. I understand these things happen, and at the owners request, agreed to manually unlock the garage door and leave the garage door opener within. I was told the tech would be out first thing in the morning. I asked when and was told 7:30am. I also had a discussion with the owner as to where the control panel would be mounted in case the tech did so prior to me arriving. The following day, I had a number of professionals at the house to do various jobs. I arrived at 8:00am. The tech never touched base and did not arrive until after 9:30am. Upon arrival he did not apologize for not making it the day prior OR being there two hours late for the now rescheduled appointment. Instead the first order of business was to tell me that I 'needed' a strut for the garage door for support. I said okay, at which point he said it would be a $40 additional charge. The technican's demeanor was short and gruff, nothing like what I had experienced over the phone with the owner. As an aside, prior to the making the appointment, I asked the owner and made certain that the only materials needed where included in the store bought box. I also made a choice to go with this company b/c of their service (both over the phone and in reviews), not their price, as they are middle-of-the-pack (owner's words) with regard to pricing. To add another $40, I would be paying more for the install than the actual opener. I stated that I did not want to pay an additional amount. The tech said he would call the owner. At that time I went back to work on a project in the backyard. I heard the tech begin work on the installation. He did not provide any update to me, so I could only assume that if he was getting to work, that the owner approved the strut install without the additional cost. If there was any other outcome, I would expect I would have been informed and asked how to further proceed. I went and checked with the tech after twenty minutes or so if all was well...he responded it was. The next communication occurred when he came to the backyard to let me know he had finished. I provided him light bulbs as requested. He walked me through the functions in no more than two minutes, literally walking out to his truck as he was finishing his explanation. I had to ask him to stop and explain the 'lock' function again since it was rushed through the first time. He then brought the invoice which stated "note customer didn't want pay for strut on door." This is the first I heard that the strut had not been installed (as it was not explained to me until later what it physically was and what purpose it served). I had not gotten anywhere with the tech previously and he seemed in a rush to leave, so I decided to bring it up to the owner in a later phone call. In the follow-up phone call I mentioned the following to the owner: (1) I was told that I 'needed' a strut, and it was not installed. If it was 'needed' for proper functioning, then I would have liked to have come to an understanding as to it's install. Instead, the tech had a conversation with the owner and got to work, without further informing me that the install would continue without this necessary part. The communication was sorely lacking. (2) After missing the appointment the day prior, the technician was two hours late for the rescheduled appointment. (3) Since the tech had not cleaned up, I put the materials back in the box, only to find that there were parts that had not been installed. As a first-time garage owner (I've lived in Central Austin over the years where no garages are the norm) I was curious as to why there were unused parts. (4) The location of the control pad was placed a foot higher than the adjacent wall outlet instead of on the same plane...in disregard to the placement we discussed on the phone the day prior. The owner said that his name and his word where of top importance, especially with Angie's List customers or others in a position to make an online review. He wanted to make it right and was going to address my concerns and refund my money. I said that I did not want a refund and did not want 'something for nothing,' I merely wanted the job done right. He said he would make it out to look at the job when he had the opportunity. He called an hour later asking if I could make it back to my house to meet him. I was not in the area, but I did want the job completed, so agreed to meet back at the house. Once at the house, the owner attempted to address my concerns. He went through the items not used in the box. He explained why some had not been used. He seemed to suggest I was questioning his workmanship, when again, I was not familiar with the parts and was simply curious and looking for an explanation as to why they had not been utilized. I accepted his explanation. He maintained his tech's assertion that there should be a strut on the door. I acknowledged their insistence that it was 'needed,' and said I had no desire to skimp...again, I just wanted the job done right, which again could have been accomplished earlier had the tech relayed the results of his conversation with the owner. Moving along, the owner recognized the placement of the control panel. He stated that nobody had ever had a problem with placement previously. Whether that is true or not, I do not see it's relevancy as we had discussed this very matter in an earlier conversation. Further, I was around for the tech to ask me should there have been a need to clarify. Regardless, the owner again stated that he would not charge me, and that I could get another provider to install the strut and change the control panel location. I said I had no problem with their technical expertise and it would save me time and further research if he did the job right, as I originally contracted him to do. The owner, the man that said his word and reputation was the driving force of his business, agreed to install the part and change the location of the control panel. Curiously, he nonetheless brought me the voided invoice even though I insisted that he keep all payments. It appeared he thought that by refusing my money, any complaints I may have with regard for his service would be later nullified. Ironically, given that he was responsive and attentive to my feedback, I had no intention of giving a bad review until... I called back later in the evening to set up an appointment for the company to make the previously committed to repairs. I asked when he would be available the next day, Friday. He said that he was booked. I then asked when his next available appointment would be...and at that point he responded that he would not be coming out at all to make any of the previously committed to repairs. I reminded him of his commitment to make good only a few hours earlier. His only response was to ask me 'what do you want?' I responded that I wanted him to make good on his agreement and install this 'necessary' part to my garage and relocate the control panel as discussed previously. The man who just hours previously was conveying that his word and reputation was gold then stated that I should just be happy that I got a free garage door opener install. Instead of going around in circles, I decided to let it go. Before hanging up the owner said that if I were to write a review that I be sure to mention that I was not charged. So there you go...I was not charged, but to be clear, it was only b/c he repeatedly refused payment. I have never been in a situation where I had to insist on paying a provider for their service. Epilogue: I called and had another highly rated Angie's List Garage Door Repairman come to the house soon thereafter. I told the 2nd business owner that I would need a strut install. Once the tech arrived and had inspected the garage he said that not only was the part not necessary, but not even recommended. I was told since it was a lightweight single door garage, that there was not sufficient strain to justify a strut unless it was mishandled in situations where it would have to be used manually. So, after all that, AustinTxGaragedoor.com was just trying to upsell me. (Very) Long story short, they missed one appointment, were late for the follow-up, communicated poorly, did not follow initial requests...and most importantly, as a business that prides itself on its word, clearly, deliberately, and without hesitancy, failed to live up to theirs.

Great! I called them expecting them to give me a huge window for some time next week. Instead, he said I can get a tech there in less than an hour!!! Our issue was no emergency, but the quick service was so nice! The tech showed up and replaced the sensors pretty quickly and showed me everything I need to know. I used a coupon from here [Angie's List] and got 15% off! Great service, great company. Very pleased. I hope nothing else goes wrong with my garage door, but if it does I'm calling them AustinTxGaragedoor.com again!

This company was nice to work with. Shelby spoke with me at length on the phone explaining different options in a non-pressure way. The installer was quick and nice. we had a couple issues but the company responded THAT day and now everything is working perfectly. We are extremely pleased with this company and would recommend them to others. I wish other companies were as responsive, knowledgeable and kind.

The installer had to take some extra steps due to idiosyncrasies in my 1979 garage, and worked everything out. He was running a little bit late, but I didn't mind as it gave me a little extra time to clear out the space. The weather was brutally hot while he did the work and he just kept after it without complaint. The new doors look beautiful, work great, and the price was as agreed despite the unanticipated complications of the job. The business owner gave me useful advice over the phone, and didn't try to sell me a new opener that I just didn't need. When the opener finally dies, I'll call these guys again for replacement.

I had problems with an old garage door opener, so I was poking around on the Internet Sunday morning about 6 AM and found a website for Austin TX Door. I filled out a form on the website with my questions and expected to hear back perhaps sometime Monday or Tuesday. Much to my surprise, Shelby called me back later that same Sunday morning and was able to answer all my questions. He was very knowledgeable, personable and thorough on the phone. He quoted me a price to install a new Liftmaster garage door opener. I called him back a few days later after my wife and I had decided to install a new opener. Shelby and Collin arrived right on time and did a great job on installing the new opener as well as servicing the door itself for no additional charge. Both these gentlemen were courteous, professional, and answered all my questions. The new opener works great. I would not hesitate to use them again.

It was a real delight to deal with this company. Their word is their bond. Reminds of the old days when you could trust someone to do what they say they will do.

I emailed several companies for an estimate on my door and Shelby got back to me within 10 minutes. I was really surprised! He was very friendly and also able to tell me exactly what the issue was and didn't laugh too hard at what we (not me) had done. He had a tech to my home in 30 minutes and the whole thing from email to completion was less than two hours. I was impressed with the knowledge, the customer service and the speed!! I would recommend them to anyone who needs garage door service!
