Austin Stairs and Hardwood Floors

I wish we had seen these reviews before we hired him. We hired him to refinish our floors and it wasn't until after we paid him and he left that we discovered he did not refinish underneath the refrigerator. He claimed that he needed to let the rest cure for a week and then he would come back and move the refrigerator and finish up. Makes sense, right? Here we are four months later and he finally comes back out, demands to be paid an additional $200, doesn't complete the work, and threatens my wife. All of this was in front of his poor son who was helping him and embarrassed and apologizing for his dad. Definitely unethical and unstable. DO NOT USE HIM!

I hired Stephen Smith to refinish hardwood floors. I then asked him to bid separately for some subfloor repair. Before he submitted a bid, I received a fantastic bid from someone else so informed Stephen Smith I did not need a bid from him for the subfloors. He then sent me a series of threatening texts demanding that I hire him. This scared me to the point I contacted the police. He also threatened to report me to the city building inspector, which he did. He wasted the inspectors' time and he wasted my time. I think he is unstable and I would suggest against letting him into your home.

Simply put...it has been four months into our project and we haven seen Stephen Smith since hiring him. A work timeline of two weeks was promised to us upon hire. To date No work has been done on our project. We have consulted with some general contractors that insist our stair project should take no longer than two weeks. We have given him a sizeable down payment for the cost of materials and labor ( in the thousands) ...but he has not produced our purchased items and has not completed any work. I've never written a review on any business .... But I'm sincerely hoping by writing this ....other people won't experience the nightmare we've gone through by choosing to work with him.
