About us

Austin Jewelry Appraisers is located inside C. Kirk Root Designs in the Arboretum Shopping Center, Austin, Texas. C. Kirk Root, GG, ASG, ASA is central Texas' only Master Gemologist Appraiser. He has over 30 years appraisal experience and is a working jeweler, and award winning jewelry designer. As one of the lead appraisers for the US Marshals Service he has vast experince in authenicating diamonds, colored stones, jewelry, and watches. Martha Altobelli is central Texas' only Geologist with a combined gemological degree from the renowned Gemmological Association of Great Britain. Services are priced at $200.00 per hour. If your have 3 or less pieces; by appointment work can be performed in front of you "while you wait".

Appraisal (valuation) services are the foundation of our business. These would include work for insurance (replacement) value, market (used sale) value, fair market (estate) value, and liquidation (quick sale) value. Consultation services are offered to verify quality or representations made by a third party (internet, store, auction, or overseas purchases). Expert witness or consultation services provided for legal (lawyers) needs. Authentication and appraisals of watches and coins.

We do not buy what we appraise. We do not sell jewelry of "like kind" being appraised. This assures you that there is no confict of interest on value conclusions that are given.
