Ralph is AMAZING!! I called him after reading other Angie's List reviews. I had some horizontally cracked tile in my bathroom where water was seeping behind the tile and down around the tub, I took the tile off and found woo directly behind some tile with mold on it. I was planning to do the remediation work myself after reading up about proper remediation protocol online and since I had such a small area. I called Ralph to get a professional opinion on the scope of remediation to make sure I wasn't missing anything. He discussed in detail everything I would need to do with me and confirmed that my particular situation could be DIY instead of needing to hire a remediation company. He advised me for ~30 min, and then advised me on how to permanently remedy the solution once the mold is cleaned up and I need to tile put back in. Top notch, will hire him for any mold testing or asbestos needs in the future.

 + -1 moreI called, explaining the situation of my home, and the guy started interrupting me, urging me to get to the point. I wasn't quite sure what to make of it and I explained I'm telling him how I am painting the picture of the situation. He stated and quot;Look the Aggies start playing in two minutes so you need to hurry up.and quot; I said and quot;wow - I can call another company hereand quot; and he retorted and quot;Nobody else open on saturday.and quot; Very unprofessional and I would urge anyone to avoid this company on principle. I'm not sure what he wanted to accomplish other than being abrasive and back-woods.

 + -1 moreI felt confident enough to obtain the samples myself so I took scrapings from 5 rooms, put them in zip lock bags and met Ralph after work to deliver them.
Description of Work: When I was about to close on my first home I was spooked by online stories of asbestos in popcorn ceilings. I called Ralph Bonnell and he set my mind at ease by giving me a general idea of the odds of my house having asbestos popcorn and the average cost to remove it. A few weeks after closing I provided Ralph with some samples and got the results came back fast: negative!

I called the office number, and the person answering the phone had Ralph call me back. He was very helpful, talked me through different scenarios, explained how mold could get in the system, what could be done to prevent it, and so on. I was very impressed with his professionalism and helpfulness.

 + -1 moreVery good. I got honest answers and recommendations that I felt made good sense.
Description of Work: I own a local remodeling company. We installed some siding that had been improperly stored by our supplier and in some areas mold stains on the planks were present. My quandry was was do I replace all the sidning or was it safe to clean it, test for mold, then paint over it. In the end we dicided to replace but Ralph was huge in providing the information I needed in order to make the decision. Never once did he push me to test nor did he rush me off the phone as we spoke for 30 minutes. In fact, he recommonded replacing even though he was sure their were no safety issues to the homeowner and he would not get the work if we replaced it. It was very satisfyiing to speak to such a knowlagable, honest and interested business owner who had my concerns at the forefront and not making money. I will use Austin Enviro Group in the future and I highly recommend them to anyone looking for an honest and knowleagable company.

 + -1 moreMy wife and I bought a house with asbestos in the popcorn ceiling. For peace of mind and resale potential, we are having it removed. Even though Austin Enviro Group does not do asbestos abatement (just testing and consulting), the gentleman guided my wife and I through the process. He also recommended not only who we should contact for these services but also who to stay away from. For anybody who needs any info or testing of dangerous materials, these are the guys to call first. I would have saved myself a lot of running around in circles had I known this.

 + -1 moreThe owner answered my call late on a Monday evening when I was expecting to leave a voicemail message. He talked to me about the services his company provided and explained what the options are when issues like this come up. He scheduled a meeting with me for the following day. He arrived at our house on Tuesday, spent 2 hours with me answering questions and helping us firgure out what the best way to move forward was if we did test positive for asbestos. He got the samples he needed, rushed them to the lab and was able to call us back a few hours later with an answer. He was a very calm voice in a time of high stress and made my husband and I feel happy with the choice we made to have testing done to keep our family safe. He did an amazing job and I would highly recommend him but hope to never have to use his services for the same reason again. :)

He provided information and recommendations for alternative ways to manage removal of asbestos containing linoleum in our home. The help set my mind at ease and has given me enough direction to make an informed decision for planning asbestos removal. Ralph Bonnell worked diligently during the inspection. The moisture meters were useful, but required a lot of sampling to get a general idea of the water activity. Ralph was able to determine the amount of water in the wall and the approximate source of the leak. His search for leaks throughout the rest of the house was negative. The moisture meters are much more effective on a known problem than a random search.
Description of Work: Hired to inspect water damage to a wall and locate the source. Also did a general search for water through the rest of the house. Was only hired for verbal description of findings, not a written report. Used two types of moisture detectors for inspection, both of which could only detect water in the adjacent material.
