Crew of 5 showed up on time and moved us over a 1-1/2 day period. We had a lot of furniture, including a baby grand piano, and over 300 boxes. Movers were very professional, courteous and respectful. They went over and above in all ways, including moving furniture and boxes from place to place in our new home.
Description of Work: Moved from 6,500 square foot home in Austin to another home nearby.

I had used this company previously with no problem or issues so I decided to use them again. I scheduled my appointment about a month in advance of my move-in date. They sent me a confirmation email a few days later and a representative informed me that I would receive a phone call on the day of my move before the approximate time they would show up. My moving day arrived I was all packed and I sat in my apartment for about 2 hours with no phone call. I called them and to my dismay they had no record of my move. The guy on the phone was rather short about it and said there must have been a computer error. After playing a few hours of phone tag they apparently deleted my appointment because another person with a similar name cancelled their appointment. Long story short they didn't show up until late afternoon, were pretty rude about it because they had to fit me into their schedule. When they arrived at my new apartment the owner told me it was "not my fault but a neighbor with a dog knocked over and broke one of your side tables." At this point my move, which was supposed to take only a few hours, ended up lasting all day and to top it off they still wanted me to pay them for the full amount of the services I received. After a little arguing I paid $125 when my original quote was $200 (the table that they broke was more than $200). He told me they would fix my table and someone would call me in about a week when it was finished. A month passed and I still had not heard about my table. I called the company and was given another lame story about how they lost my phone number and had attempted to call me (I never received a call and he took my information when he took my table). My table was brought out the next day and given an ok repair job, the dent and chunk were gone but it looks/feels nothing like the other side table. I will definitely not use them again.
Description of Work: I was moving from a one bedroom apartment on a hill with several switchbacks to another 1 bedroom apartment closer to central Austin. The only items that required moving included a bed, couch, dresser, dining room table with chairs, coffee table, and tv stand. My appointment arrival time was 9-1130 am with an expected time of at least 2 hours.

Response from Austin's Mover Tex
I would like to apologize on behalf of Austin's Mover Tex. Member is no longer with the company. Seeing reports such as these make our company fight harder to prove that we are as professional as we say, and what the hundreds of other customers have seen. I do deeply apoplogize for your bad experience.

The emails to me bragged about sending a totally experienced and very professional staff. One of the guys "working" that day was simply visiting a buddy and had no experience whatsoever. He spent most of the time smoking and I ended up with a cigarette burn in my queen-size mattress. They only brought one trailer to move a 3-bedroom house plus outdoor furniture and a garage and shed full of boxes. They did manage to cram most of the stuff in the trailer by putting some things in the back of the pickup and because the piano was smaller than they had expected and also because I had decided not to move the refrigerator. However, they left some things in the shed and completely missed packing a kitchen drawer full of tools. The clothes in my closets were not placed in wardrobe boxes, but were simply wadded up in a blanket. Naturally I had a lot of ironing to do once these were "unpacked." Lampshades were stacked in one box; one shade was crushed. The crew did a good job of putting the beds together, but left without hooking up the washer and dryer. The only real compliment I have for this crew is that they were willing to move furniture from one room to another when I changed my mind on the placement of a few pieces. I reported these problems to the owner, Kevin James, and he did ask me to call him back with an idea for compensation. I did not do this because I was quite sure he would not give me full compensation for the fairly new queen mattress; nor would he drive back to pick up the items left behind. I was just extremely disappointed in the expected professionalism because this was what was emphasized in any communication I had from Mr. James.
Description of Work: This company moved my furnishings 175 miles to Austin. They packed the kitchen and were to also pack the hanging clothes in wardrobe boxes.
