I couldn't be more pleased with Curtis. He is an exceptional professional with integrity and I consider myself blessed to have found him after two false starts with other builders. The first builder gained my confidence but refused to write a contract unless I agreed to the total price of $35,000. The second builder couldn't even get his bid to me in 6 weeks and decided he didn't want to work with me (for which I was grateful because if he couldn't even get past the bid stage, I felt he would not have been dependable.) The subcontractors Curtis hired were also very experienced and professional. In fact, I'm going to use one of them as I continue to do more remodeling. When we were ready for sheetrocking, I had a friend approach me with a lower bid from a direct drywall company. Because I would be hiring them direct, there was substantial saviings. I initially felt bad because I'd agreed to use Curtis for this element but when I called him, he encouraged me to go with the other company to achieve the savings. He explained that as a builder, he has a reasonable mark-up and has to hire someone else to do the work. Afterwards, when the inspector passed us for the framing and insulation, Curtis came out to slice the paper of the insulation and add the foam insulation in a few spots which were requested by the inspector. Based on my first two experiences, I think this deserves added praise. Curtis continually demonstrated his decisions were based not only on doing a quality job but had my own personal interest in mind (even if it meant he might lose the work). To me, this is honorable and rare these days. Curtis has agreed to be available by phone or e-mail if I have questions or if he can be of further help.
