I obtained three landscaping companies from Angies list to get estimates for the work described above. I also had two local companies from the phone book. I asked each vendor to develop a "transparent" proposal, segregating each component of the work - berm creation, landscaping, and mulching. 4 of the 5 vendors came and took detailed measurements - 1 seemed very superficial, and gave a blanket price without describing work-effort or size of job (obviously excluded). Of the 4 proposals, 2 came in cheaper than Andy's and one slightly more expensive. None of the proposals were anywhere as detailed or transparent as Andy's. I short listed down to two vendors - Andy's and one other. For each, i conducted follow-up discussions to get a better feel for what each job entailed from a scope perspective, and any key assumptions that may not have been accounted for by the other vendor. Andy's follow-up conversation was by far the most informative. He clearly explained each step of the project, the reason why (i.e. root cause of the problem, and how the proposed solution actually addressed the it), and most importantly distilled it down to words and concepts i could understand - effective drainage is not quite as simple as it would seem. After some price negotiation, Andy's (Chris) and I reached a gentlemen's agreement on price and scope - and they were selected for the job. Gentlemen's agreement is not to be confused by a lack of a written contract - everything to be performed was prescribed to the 'T'. Chris scheduled our job for 3/25/13 - about two weeks after we agreed on price......truth be told, this was one week later than I wanted, but thankfully the right week, because we had quite a thunderstorm the week i wanted, which would have resulted in unworkable conditions. Chris and his team took 5 days to do the job, all performed while the entire family was out of town - they had full access to our home - without any damage or dirt caused by people walking in and out for bathroom, water, breaks, etc. At the start of the job, I asked Chris how we should process payments, to which he replied "you can pay me when you come back, or when we see each other next" - coming from NY, I couldn't believe what i was hearing. In any event, I returned home Friday evening around 7PM, Chris happened to be finishing up the job which looked fantastic. I paid him with a "stale" check, and we celebrated the good work over a beer (embarrassingly - I had to correct the stale payment the next Saturday morning - but he didn't give me any grief over this). I would recommend Chris (Andy's) to anybody. Since the job, about 5 days later, Austin was hit with flash flood rains - the kind that drops feet of rain within an hour - and the berm functioned phenomenally - although i will have some mulch to re-spread. Chris and his team are good, honest, and highly knowledgeable - I recommend them for any landscaping / drainage job that I can think of (..at least).

I purchased the deal of the day to have Andy's crew come out to "tune up" my sprinkler system. They came out and ran my system through the cycles, stuck flags on the heads and took all sorts of notes. When they were finished, I got a hard sell on my busted and broken heads. The total was quite a bit more than I would have considered spending. When I kept saying no, they offered about 25% off. Seeing as I had my system checked in less than 18 months prior, I declined their offer. Honestly, looking back on it, I am not sure what I expected from a "tune up" on my sprinkler system, but I know that I was not expecting a hard sell on product. I can't say that I would not recommend them to service your sprinkler system, but I would not have them out for a tune up.

The technician was very professional and explained the work in detailed. He listened to my concerns and adjusted the work accordingly.

There's no story to tell other than failure to respond to phone calls.

This review is for "Andy's Sprinkler Drainage & Lighting" in Austin, TX. I had a flooding problem when it rained. Chris came out and gave me an estimate. Several days later, they came and performed the work. He an his crew were punctual, polite, and professional. I was very pleased with their work, and several days after they finished, there was a rainstorm, and I didn't experience any flooding. I would recommend them to anyone needing drainage work done.

The service was fine overall. The technician did what needed to be done, was thorough, and he answered any questions that I had.

They did a very good job. They were very punctual. They give you an estimate before hand, and the job comes in pretty much as with the estimate. They are not cheap, but they are very professional, and they keep their appointment. I have used them several times.

They came out on "special" I purchased from Angies List but found all sorts of things to fix and so I was charged $850 for the services to "fix" my sprinkler system. I do not know what they did for that amount of money but my sprinklers don't work, don't give full coverage to my plants, etc. which was why I hired them in the first place. They were very nice and professional but I did not get good value for all the money I spent. I think this is a scam to buy a tune-up for discount but they probably always find "extras" that need to be done in order to charge a lot more. I wouldn't even be as upset about that if my sprinklers actually were adjusted correctly and functioned right but they don't!!

Great experience. I was recommended to Andy's by another sprinkler service, who does not service old systems he doesn't install. That says it all. Another company recommending Andy's. They were professional and punctual. The gave an estimate comparsble to other companies I spoke with but their service was better. They walked us through our zones and made recommendations. They performed what we asked and did not pressure us for work we didn't need or want. I would recommend Andy's to anyone and will use them again in the future for drip sprinklers for a victory garden.

They were quick to call to schedule a visit, confirmed the visit the day before and the morning of the service call. Josh was very professional, very proficient, and accomplished the service quickly and cost effectively. I will use them again.

I was very pleased with the service I received and would recommend them.

I had a dissagreement with the service techs on site. Their ad said they would do a system tune-up and make repairs as necessary. I asked them to find and repair a water leak first, which they did very well. They calculated a certain time to do the tune-up, and I did not keep them beyond that time. However, they said the leak repapir was not part of the deal, and would cost extra. After several discussions with the on-site team leader and the boss back in the office, we came to a mutually satisfactory agreement. entia

Each service call was handled very quickly, efficiently and all 3 of the 3 were done the same day I called for service. The price is not inexpensive but the service is excellent, the skill is excellent and the response time is fabulous. So it would be pretty odd for the price to be inexpensive. The tech helped me plan for future xeroscaping of the lawn with conversion of lawn sprinkler heads to drip hoses. This was a significant issue for introducing xeroscaping to the yard in the coming months.

Work completed in a timely manner and the sprinkler system works fine now.

The service worked out well and they did a good job. They where on time. They were really knowledgeable about a few things that were nagging. They were able to solve the problem without it being costly.

They were very busy and booked I think through Nov, but when I called they were able to send someone out to at least provide the estimate in order for us to see if we would wait and use their service. The tech came and emailed the estimate. It just wasn't at all what we expected.

Andrew did recommend some repairs and improvements to the irrigation system. We feel the price for the work was fair and he completed all work during the same trip.
