Andy's Sprinkler Drainage & Lighting

I first made contact with Andy's through a special offer on Living Social, for a half-price sprinkler inspection and tuneup. I had just bought a house with an irrigation system covering over half an acre, and I knew nothing about whether the system was getting the coverage that I needed to maintain a healthy lawn. The tuneup was a perfect opportunity for me to learn about my new system, and see what it would take to improve it if necessary. Andy's courteous office staff took my information, set my appointment, and informed me that they'd call me back the day before the appointment to remind me, and that the technician would call me 1/2 before arriving. The day before the appointment, Andy's called me as promised. The day of the appointment, the tech called me when he was 30 minutes away. Check, and check. I'm liking this already - they do what they say they're going to do. The two fellows that showed up onsite were courteous and friendly as well. I explained that I wanted to learn more about the system and how it worked, and Drew took extra effort to explain everything to me as he did his work. He ran the system through each zone, and adjusted each of the rotor heads for the best coverage. He found several that had been damaged by the lawnmower or weedeater, and flagged those. he also flagged heads that had become pushed over where they were no longer sitting vertical. He checked the backflow preventer, and showed me how to shut the system off in the event of a leak. Then he walked me through the controller, and made some thoughtful recommendations about water duration for each zone in Stage III water restrictions. While he was doing that, his assistant was digging up the heads that were not vertical, straightening them up, and replacing the sod around them. Finally, Drew gave me an estimate to repair the damaged heads - $35 parts and labor, and he had all the parts on the truck. The time I would have had to devote to going to Home Depot and looking for the right components would have cost me more than $35, so I cheerfully agreed and 15 minutes later everything was adjusted and working perfectly with a clean bill of health. It''s hard to find a service company that achieves this level of customer satisfaction, but I'll certainly call them if I need additional work.

Initial engagement very good, bought the "big deal" to just have adjusted and checked, but knew needed some heads fixed. Overall guy I worked with gave me sense of confidence. Indicated that because of changes in landscaping, that either redo everything (very expensive) or adjust within reason (which is what chose to do for now) - reasonable statement based on land. He was pleasure to work with, and punctual on first arrival. Some issues, though: #1 Supposed to program automatic timer, but left without doing, I called and he said would be back same day, but didn't show up. Had to call and arrange another time to come do, which he did. #2 Bought the big deal for "tune up" - the bill they provided did not show how costs were broken down, I'm not sure i saved any money by having bought the big deal, since savings from tune up and everything else were not broken down. Kind of feel like the $76 I paid for big deal might have COST me money instead of saved me money in long run. Transparency would have helped there. #3 Still have section of lawn that is extra green during water restrictions and bills still high - suspect there is still a leak, don't have confidence it was thoroughly checked, will be investigating on own. If verify there is a leak review will go down further.

The service men were prompt, polite and very professional. They ran through the system and marked broken and leaking heads with flags. They found two areas where a pipe was broken. This was missed by a previous Sprinkler Repair company I had out in July. They gave me a one year warranty on parts and labor. I called a few weeks later for a head to be adjusted. They came promptly and didn't charge me. The bill seemed high but it appears to be the going rate. I would use them again

It was pretty basic -- a preventative maintenance check of our lawn irrigation system. They were prompt, courteous and thorough. I would certainly recommend them.

The work went well, and they were efficient and talked me through the additional costs before they went ahead with the work. I had to call them out again a few weeks later, as the City council had replaced some of my curb stones, and messed up a couple of the sprinkler heads which were blasting out water all over the street. Unfortunately, I had to pay to have this work redone, but, they worked efficiently and quickly and resolved the problem. Would use them again.

These guys are expensive but very nice and professional. My only problem was that I purchased a coupon on angies list for an inspection and the price was not credited to my bill. Here's what happen: In order to fix problems, the sprinkler system needs to be turned on and inspected. The coupon I bought on Angie's list was for an inspection--all other work was extra. So, I wasted my money buying the coupon on Angie's list. I called to ask what could be done to give me credit for the coupon and they said nothing. The lady even told me it was a "not very useful" coupon. Don't waste your money on a coupon from Andy's for a system inspection--the system has to be inspected any way.

They were phenomenal. There were really excellent. Although, I need to call them back because there was a couple of areas in my yard that is not getting the right amount of water so they need to tweak it a little bit. The pricing was reasonable.

The system is old so I chose to replace the sprinkler heads they recommended. I have an extensive drip system as part of the lawn system and was pleasantly surprised when they checked it as part of the deal.

Very prompt, clean and professional. Talk about short-term and long-term needs and repairs. Very attentive to water conservation and plant care.

I was extremely disappointed by the service and called Angie's List about the 'bait and switch'. Nothing was done. This will be my last Angie's list deal ! The promised sprinkler system check amounted to turning on each zone and the technician asking if I knew of problems (useless !). The problem areas I did identify were then used to sell me changes to my system at very inflated prices

They came out and did the service, everything seemed okay. They told me that they had to replace 8 different heads and they were supposed to put in the invoice which ones they were so that I would know if one broke because it has a guarantee. So when I saw the invoice they didn't do that, I called back the office a couple of weeks later asking if they could do that and I never heard a response so I would not use them again. I thought they were terribly expensive, more than what the big deal suggested. They did some good things but I just have a feeling about the charge that may not be true; it's just more of a feeling than anything. When they didn't call me back that kind of irritated me. The initial job was fine but the follow up was non-existence. I needed to know the number of the heads that they replaced because their heads are guaranteed so if one goes out, I won't remember which ones they replaced, he said "I will put that on your invoice." So he gave me the invoice, I paid him and I put it in my little drawer to file later. It was a couple of weeks before I filed it and when I looked on there I noticed the heads were not named, they didn't give me the number. I called back and asked for that information, no one ever called me back. I spoke to someone directly, tell them what I needed and no ever called me back. I said "Forget it, I would never use them again because of that." Customer service is a big deal for me. They seem fine, personable, friendly and all that.

That was good. They came out and gave us some good ideas and suggestions on how to utilize better what we have here.

Prompt, polite service, clear explanations, alternative choices.. Explained what was needed, gave a few choices, and proceeded with work.

Arrived on time, aware of the special coupon. Agreed to check all sprinklers and drippers and to adjust sprinkler controller as needed for watering allowed only one day per week by local regulation. Done in 25 minutes, noted two sprinkler heads that required replacement; quoted $98. We agreed, and shortly afterward all was done, we paid and they left. Very professional and courteous.

Andrew arrived on time, quickly found the source of the leak, and gave me several different repair options. Ultimately, the repairs required more work than either of us had anticipated, but Andrew kept me informed as the additional damage was discovered and gave me options on how to proceed. He answered all of my questions and stayed much later than originally planned to make sure that the job was done correctly and fully. I definitely plan to hire Andy's Sprinkler service again next year when I redo my landscaping.

I was quoted a price of parts plus $95 per hour labor for a crew of 2. I accepted this. After reading some of the reviews on Angies list, I expected that their parts costs would be high but I did not expect that they will be charging $1.85 per foot of 1/2" PVC pipe or $1.75 per foot of 14 gauge of single conductor wire. Anyway, That is not what my disagreement with them was about. My issue with them was, and is, their changes for repairing pipe breaks. They charged me $24.00 for "1/2" PVC pipe repair with materials", $28.80 for "3/4" PVC pipe repair with materials" and $33.60 for "1" PVC pipe repair with materials". I was charged a total of $182.40+sales tax for 7 pipe repairs (5+1+1). The parts used in these repairs were 2 coupling, less than 1 foot of pipe, and some PVC cleaning fluid & glue. No way this part cost could be more than $5 for each repair, even at their inflated prices, for example, $1.85 for one foot of 1/2" PVC pipe. Furthermore, their invoice clearly says "pipe repair with materials" which clearly implies labor+materials. I consider this duplicate charge for labor. When I complained, they insisted that this cost does not include any labor cost and insisted that this is their parts cost only. I then filed a complaint with Austin BBB and after some back and forth, they refunded me $100. While this is less than what I would consider fair, I accepted this for the sake of closing this saga.

He was fantastic. It was great. He did what he was supposed to do without charging me any extra over the Big Deal.

I just thought it was a little too expensive for 1 hour worth of work.

They were great. It was very reasonable to have them come out and do what they did. He was extra helpful. He took the steps to check the rest of the sprinkler and made sure that everything was optimized. They said that while they were here, we might as well not waste anymore of my time and not have anymore of these issues, we might as well check the rest of the system. I did not expect them to do it. They wanted to make sure that the yard was getting the water it needed. I would use them again.

this is a excellent company to do business with . I do not have one complaint from start to finish.

I was very pleased with it. The system is still working fine. They had to do some repairs, from damage that the fence people had done. They damaged pipes as they were putting the fence in. it is still working good. It was a mundane thing to do and they did it just fine. It was about what I expected. I will use them again.

We began a massive backyard overall in 2012 and expected each phase to go faster than it did, and we did not expect the extreme heat/dry spell in late summer/early fall. So we actually began working with Andy's sprinklers in late spring 2012 to move the system for 3 new patios and a shed. However, we did not install 3 patios, only 2, and did not need to move the main line after all. Going back to the heat/dry challenge, we had to postpone the sod install and landscaping to spring of this year, and during that time, we were referred to 2 other companies for sprinklers/drainage. In both cases, the people we met with did not seem to listen to what we wanted, and presented bids that were way over the top for what we asked to have done as well as triple or more what we paid Andy's. Once the sod and trees were installed, I did not hesitate to call Joe at Andy's. Joe remembered us and our project right away, including most of the details without any prompting. Joe then came out within a couple of days to look at where we were and the needs of our yard based on how the plan played out. Joe quickly got a revised plan back to us and scheduled the install. As always, they were on-time and right on it. While they were here, I asked Joe to look at our front lawn, which he did, and he was able to make some unplanned upgrades on the spot. He also got cornered by one of our neighbors and did the same thing for them. The end result is that the system now works for our yard and waters what we need to water while missing most of what we don't want to water (patios, fence, etc.). I can't imagine calling anyone but Joe @ Andy's moving forward.

After maintenance, a few sprinklers we still set badly causing puddles in the yard.

I called Andy's because of a positive experience I had with the company in the Dallas area. Fortunately, the Austin company was terrific also. The manager of our job, Joe, paid close attention to the details of what we wished to accomplish is our outdoor living areas. He carefully planned each task, asked lots of questions to gain a better understanding of our vision and executed each phase (and there were many) smoothly. The results are remarkable.
