Allied Siding & Windows has had the same name and phone number for more than 28 years. Allied installs more HardiePlank® Siding (the ORIGINAL James Hardie installer in Austin!) and more Simonton windows than any company in Texas. This enables us to offer the best prices for brand name home improvement products installed by manufacturer trained professionals. And --- our service is so good that each month, our largest group of customers comes from repeats and referrals. So why Allied? Brand name products, great prices and service so good that you'll tell your friends and family about us! Allied Siding & Windows is proud to have an A+ rating with the BBB for 28 years.
STAY AWAY FROM THESE GUYS AND IGNORE ANY BIDS EVEN IF THEY ARE THE CHEAPEST. These guys are terrible in every aspect of a business. The windows and labor appeared good but the company is run by inept thieves. We had every window ~36 replaced, two doors and insulation for the attic. Sales presentation and everything up front was great. Once they had my deposit issues started. The back office people failed to communicate with the installer when the windows arrived and we missed our install window that was initially given. The install crew did everything possible to meet the second window (we had other projects also going on) only to find that the operations team failed to order several of the windows so the guys had to come back again from Houston. Finally the doors arrived and operations ordered the wrong doors. Another couple weeks go by and the missing windows arrive, they get installed and windows are done. The doors arrive and they get installed but the install crew finds that the ops team now failed to order the door trim in the correct color. At this point I reach out to the owne who is a lying POS and didn’t follow through on any of his promises once he had my money. Three more weeks go by and the correct doors finally arrive and are installed. At this point they demanded payment in full despite the insulation not being completed because the contract had a clause that payment is due when 90% of work is completed. So we pay in full and the insulation is scheduled. We were out of the house for the insulation due to having no working bathrooms and it’s “completed” with us not there. We later came to discover that these guys rented a machine from Home Depot and had someone who didn’t know what they were doing blow in insulation. The levels were not even and there were even huge bare spots and they only did one section of the attic. After weeks of calls to Tim Nash and his boss they finally agreed to fix the issues but only addressed half of the attic and did not do the separate attic. To date they have repeatedly agreed to fix things but now have stopped answering calls. We will likely have to take legal action at this point. Ignore the positive reviews on this site from people who have gotten quotes. I’ll be the first to tell you their sales pitch was great but not a day goes by that I don’t regret going with them over one of my other bids.

After I signed contract with salesman, really only dealt with crew foreman. When my mother unexpectedly passed away the day before work was to be started, left message with Austin office to try to postpone work. Never received any response to my voice message. Crew showed up making promise to move things and be careful. Stressed and having to make a flight out of town, I left feeling very uneasy about it all. While out of state dealing with funeral, received a call from office wanting money. It was my understanding no payment was required until 90% of job complete. It was only about 60% at that point! Crew of 2 (sometimes 4) were very nice individuals and I have wanted to trust and work with them, but I am not happy with the mess, things moved, trampled, and broken, and very unprofessional paint job. I've still held out the final 1K, hoping when they return to complete the punch list, that they can clean up and make the paint job look professional. Very disappointed in the company itself. I went with a large company because I thought they would be out in the field making sure the job was getting done to my satisfaction. I didn't realize I would have to be the one overseeing the work and dealing with the crew foreman myself! I could have gone ahead and hired a local contractor for probably less cost!

They installed the siding incorrectly and so, squirrels got in to our roof. They did eventually come and fix it but they never paid for the damage. We spent $500 to get the squirrels eradicated. That was the problem. We felt like they would have paid for that. That is why we got the siding, so we wouldn't have squirrel problems. The problem is how they reacted afterwards. We were happy with the initial everything but it wasn't resolved well. The workers were fine. The one that came and communicated with me tried to convince me that I was wrong. But, he did end up coming and fixing it.

Thanks for the review, and we're glad that this was resolved for you. For anyone reading this review, the fix for this was a longer piece of flashing, not an error with the installation of the siding. Allied installs more James Hardie siding than any company in the US, and our installers are all trained by James Hardie representatives. Our team goes through training on a quarterly basis, and Santos and his team have done home improvement work on hundreds of homes in the DFW area. Having fiber cement siding is a great deterrent for things like squirrels (difficult for them to chew through cement!), but it is not something that is guaranteed to stop the possibility of them, especially if they have nested there previously. We also appreciate the 100% satisfaction score that we received from Mr. and Mrs. [Member Name Removed] for the work that we provided.

Thanks for your comments, and we're disappointed to see this rating. The installer teams are trained by the manufacturer, and our installation procedures are consistent with the best practices of the manufacturer. We sometimes have customers request things that are not consistent with the manufacturer's recommendations. However, if we performed those services, it could negatively impact the product warranty. Whether it's our Installer Team Leader, our Product Specialist or our Production Manager, we will try to explain the reasons behind the recommendations from the manufacturer. However, we don't perform work that would put our customers in an unfavorable warranty position down the road.

The crew was very capable and worked all day as expected and cleaned up after quite well. The windows installed were not exactly top of the line. The deck built was functional but not sanded in spots like handrail. One board I had to pull and turn over as it crowned. The door locks were not set to close properly and were at first upside down. They did come back and correct. Very nice crew to work with. Sometimes they were a bit later than anticipated at arrival.

We first contacted Allied in approximately May, 2013 for a quote. We found them on Angie's List and they were highly rated. Chad came out, measured, gave us our quote and was very professional, nice, and efficient. Allied's bid was right in line with the other quotes we got (~$14500). Due to the cost, we decided to wait a few months to actually do the work. When we were finally ready, in about February 2014, we called Chad back asking for a better price point. He was able to secure a better price for us without any drama or silliness. He, again, was the consummate professional. He was very patient with us as we continued making changes before the work began. When we got everything worked out, we signed the contract and Allied started the work right on time. Santos, our job foreman came out to go over the job with us. At that time, we told him we wanted smooth, beaded siding and round gable vents in the three gables we have. He made a note and said it wouldn't be a problem. However, the day they got arrived to get started on the job, the wrong siding was delivered. Santos recognized the problem right away, and made sure the crew did not continue with the wrong product. It took about two days to get the right siding in and when it did arrive, the crew went right to work. Everything during the install went pretty smoothly until we mentioned the gable vents. Santos had inadvertently forgotten to order the vents. Again, he and Chad handled the problem with ease and professionalism. We were assured the vents would be installed ASAP. And they were. And they looked great. There were a couple of times when I called into question the details of the finish work on the job and Santos quickly worked with us to address our concerns and fix everything to our liking. The only real issue we had with Allied was that, during the job (which lasted about 3-4 days total), some of the crew used our back yard (behind a storage shed) as a toilet. We found out because our dog was carrying around some of the waste one day. We contacted Allied and they immediately sent Santos out to rectify the issue. He removed all the waste without further incident. The entire time, working with Chad and the office staff to get this issue resolved, everyone was very apologetic, assured us this wasn't SOP and was very professional and efficient in taking care of the problem. Overall, we're very happy with the way the job turned out. Chad, Santos and the office we staff we talked with were all great to work with. I do, think, however, that some of the crew that came out to do the work, may've been a little inexperienced. We would use Allied again, despite the few issues.

It went very well. Workers were polite and cleaned up after themselves every day. The foreman Manuel, always started and ended the day with what was going to be worked on and what was completed. They ended up going over time by a few days due to delays caused by weather and a family emergency. I would highly recommend this company and asked them to list me as a reference.

A great experience from end to end! After going through a competitive bidding process with multiple siding and window contractors, I knew from the start that Allied was the winner. Since this was such a big investment, it was critical to ensure the process and my options were fully vetted based not only in cost, but the company's reputation, product offerings and responsiveness. Lamar (sales rep) quickly zero'd in on what I was looking for, answered several questions, and arranged for a follow up in person visit after the initial bid. There were no hidden costs or surprises, and he remained in contact through the course of the job. The crew worked around rain, and made up for lost work time by bringing out a double crew on a Saturday. The job site was kept clean and organized at the end of every day without trash, nails, or other debris. Manuel was especially easy to work with during the course of the siding project. He checked in daily to ensure I knew where we were and when the crew would be back the next day. I did not pay a dime until the work was delivered and I was satisfied.

We contacted several vendors with our specific window type. The Allied sales rep was prompt for the appointment, extremely helpfull, and very patient through our decision making process. The Allied bid was much less than our other vendors including a big box store. The windows were measured, the order placed, and new windows received within the estimated time. The installation took 2 1/2 days and the installation crew of three arrived promptly at their specified time, were very professional, and patient with our many questions and interuptions. The job site was cleaned up daily and the crew leader was very receptive to the inevitable changes and additional issues that arose during the installation. All in all a great experience.

***** Update in response to repairs done on the re-work of the original job. In response to the issues noted below, Allied has completed the repairs to the extent allowed by the material. Although they have done a good job doing the repairs I am not entirely impressed with the characteristics of the HardiPlank material itself. Although it is seemly a very good product it's not indestructible. I can be damaged if hit with a small amount of force. One final note, the sofit, facia, and trim pieces should have been installed using standard construction practices. Not all the joints were cut at downward sloped 45 degree angle to prevent water from running back into the cut piece. Where to begin? Problems started from the very onset of work. Delivery of material was late and did not arrive until Monday afternoon around 1pm. This of course also caused a difficult work situation as well as requiring the job to take two days to complete. Meaning I missed two days work and although technically not required my presence proved to be vital. I had to make numerous reminders to the workers, of which only spoke little or no English, regarding such things as, what was being replaced, (what material to save) taking out the gable vents, when the electrical disconnect was planned - box mounting and wire connection, etc. Items that I had to provide the crew - a particular drill bit size and certain screws. The job site was not always kept in an orderly manner such as the scrap material was stacked on a grass areas in the blazing heat. After the job was almost completed I was told about a concern of not having enough material and the crew later expressed that they almost ran out of material. (lap siding) There were basically on a few short pieces left over. Problems with remounting telephone circuit box, reconnected telephone and cable wires to house and roof eve. Remount conduit for electrical wires from meter to service lines. One of the workers truck hit neighbors mailbox as they parked in front of their house. Allied was unclear about what would be needed for the electrical disconnect and reconnect and therefore there was confusion as to what was needed when and who's responsibility it would be. TXU (OnCor who actually did the work) informed us of some issues that Allied seemed unaware of. The Allied crew seemed unprepared to deal with this situation and therefore not only caused delays but a less than desirable work situation. I also discovered a huge gouge in the siding about knee high just after OnCor left the job site and appears to be caused by the metal feet of Oncor's ladder hitting the siding. As a result the entire siding had to be replaced but fortunently the electric company agreed to pay to the reinstall which has now been completed, but the quality is still subpar. There are still planks that are not flush, needing pinbacks done. There are still nail heads that are not caulked and painted. ***** Update in response to repairs done on the re-work of the original job. While every customer is important to us here at Allied, we recognize and regret that circumstances occur which may result in customer dissatisfaction. We can’t say that we’re going to be perfect every time; although, we certainly work for that to be the case. However, when something goes wrong, we make it right, period. Happy customers are the cornerstone to our success and we regret that any customer’s experience is less than satisfactory. I thought the quote was pretty good after receiving quotes from three other Hardie Board vendors that were highly rated on Angies List. Allied's quote was the best by a large margin but one of the competitors said they would match it. (People looking for siding bids should know that the companies doing this have a LOT, LOT, LOT of room for profit and can really gouge you on the price. Very important to shop around and force the companies to bid against each other. Allied did an overall nice job when all is said in done. I was pretty patient with them knowing the bid was good. They got off to a delayed start (about 5 weeks after signing contract). No many paid though until job finished so not a big deal. However, what was a big deal to me is that because it was a delayed start the two workers they sent out were forced to work in extreme heat. And the workers got to the home around 11AM every day so they were working in the worst part of the heat. And they would work late into the evening so our peace at home was greatly disturbed by the work (noise!), dust and mess.If you go with Allied insist on a large crew (say about 6-8 workers) and get a commitment on how long the job will take. Our job took over six weeks. And the daily cleanup was poor (but they guys were dying of heat exhaustion). I was a little upset at the end of the job when the Sales guy wanted to collect an exorbitant amount for a small amount of plywood needed. Be sure that they include plywood/USB in the job quote and don't let them tell you that you probably won't need it. You probably will need it and make them determine how much.
Description of Work: Tore out old wood siding and replaced it with Hardie Board. I think we had about 1000 sq feet of siding and a pretty cut up home design (lots of small areas to work in)

Description of Work: I used Allied Siding and Windows for siding and windows about a year ago. The last service was for windows.

They took about a month to do the project. The salesman was from Austin, so it was hard to connect with him when I had questions or concerns, because he just wasn't here. The crew spoke mostly Spanish, so there was a communication gap during the whole project.
Description of Work: They replaced the windows and siding of my home.

What can I say, these guys rock! Lamar Laing provided the estimate and was very helpful in understanding what to expect, and wasn't one of those and quot;high pressure car salemanand quot; types that want to nag you until you just give up and sign just to get rid of them. He was very professional and understanding when I told him I need to think more before committing. After deciding, Kevin (Project Manager over the eventual crew that would come out) came out to take the and quot;beforeand quot; pictures. He was very professional as well and explained what to expect, and was able to answer all of the technical questions I had. I know quite a bit about construction and was sort of testing his knowledge to questions I already knew the answers to. Of course he passed with flying colors. (At this point, I still had a few days to change my mind even after signing Lamar's contract work order.) Kevin convinced me 100% that I did make the right choice by picking Allied. A few days later, here comes the crew. Now these guys don't mess around! They brought at least 14 guys and this whole thing was done in 3 days! I was blown away. Kevin told me that it would be done in 3 days, but I was like and quot;yeah right we'll see, and Santa Clause and the Easter Bunny are friends on Facebook, Kevin.and quot; I quickly found out he wasn't pulling my leg. Also just as Kevin said would happen, the crew cleaned up after themselves and didn't leave any trash, old siding material, etc. in the yard. Very professional. After the Dupont Tyvek vapor barrier and Hardiplank was installed, then the paint crew showed up and again, brought enough people to get the house painted in one day. After that dried they came back and did a second coat. My house looks like I just bought it (but this time with the right siding material for the Central Texas climate, and not that junk Main Street homes uses. ) Over all, if you're even thinking about getting your siding replaced, you'd be doing yourself a disservice if you don't at least consider these guys and get an estimate. A++++ company. Replacing windows will be next, and I'll be using them again when I can afford it.
Description of Work: My old siding was made of that fake particle board junk that Main Street Homes chose to use (another story...never buy a house made by Main Street Homes. I got bids together, did some research, and decided to go with Allied to replace my siding that was literally about to fall off the house on it's own, and replace it with Hardiplank, a material that is about 90% concrete.

Overall, the quality of the work is not what I expected. I expected the best siding installers in Texas. Much of the work was fine, but there were numerous flaws as well. They left gaps between the OSB sheathing around the windows, and between the Tyvek wrap and the windows. Many of the Hardie boards were not cut straight. When they finished the main siding installation and we pointed things out that had not been done correctly or were sloppy, they did not want to fix them and strongly complained. They did not fill in the gaps between the foundation and the siding which resulted in ants coming inside the house through the gaps. They promised that there would be no visible nail heads and you can see them. We pointed out things more than once to different people just to get them fixed. Several items had to be brought to their attention several times, and some had to be fixed more than once because the repairs were not done correctly. The construction manager was unpleasant, rude, and defensive on many occasions. At many stages of the work, it wasn't clear who was supposed to be or was actually supervising. When I asked questions or pointed out any problems during the siding installation (such as insulation and sheathing gaps), the workers got upset with me. At one stage, I was called by the construction manager and I was told that the guys were uncomfortable with me watching them work and that I was holding up their work, and that I was asking questions and taking pictures. They delayed five days between the main siding work and the painting of the house, and we were asked to explain the painting job to three different crews. We contracted for the job in March, and had requested for the job completed in early May; it was not completed until almost the end of June. When they had made most of the corrections needed, we then discovered a potential major problem. There was a gap under the end of the deck supports where the old siding should have been left, and it looked like they had ripped out at least some of the old siding leaving an air gap between the deck supports and the house frame. We dd not know how far the gap extended since only one end of it was visible and reachable -- it was anywhere from a few inches to the entire span of the deck. We alerted them about the problem as soon as we noticed it, and asked them to remove a deck board to take a look at it so we would know the extent of the problem. After initially responding that we would have to compensate them to do this check, they finally agreed five days later to open it up and take a look, which they did on the sixth day after we'd informed them of the problem. We were then able to see that they had left about a 6and quot;-wide gap between the house frame and the deck supports that they needed to fill. In addition, we wanted some windows installed to match the other windows in our home. The sales rep suggested a window installer that could install the windows that we wanted to order directly from Home Depot to match the existing windows in the house, and said that he would coordinate the schedule for the windows and siding, even though the work would be off of the main contract. The original installer did not return phone calls over the planning period (delaying the preferred early May installation schedule by several weeks) and finally said that he did not want to do the job; in order to get the siding done in late May, the sales rep located another window installer who did the work quickly and efficiently. However, the construction manager (siding) later said that we should not have had the work done and quot;under-the-tableand quot; and that it was and quot;wrongand quot; -- a shock to us since the sales rep had offered to organize the work. (Please note that the grades and pricing for this report do not include the window installation work.) I should note that the office management, sales manager and on-site supervisor were generally professional and helpful in expediting getting the work done, and in arranging for the last major problem needs to be resolved quickly. Many of the crew were highly skilled but others were not, leading to mixed quality and errors that had to be corrected. The overall management and scheduling of the construction work was deficient, as were on-site lines of authority. There were too many people to coordinate with for the same issues, and we were left waiting throughout the process for the work to be completed.
Description of Work: They were removing old siding and putting new siding on our house.
