Mitch was easy to work with, responsive and a more reasonable cost than the other bid, which is a larger company (Strand). Highly recommend them

See above.....very happy with the service provided and cost. A side note.....we had a major problem 5 years ago and Mitch from All Star and his team refurbished our AC system to solve the problem. He was the only company that didn't recommend replacement of the entire system, which would have cost $8 - $10,000. Mitch fixed the problem for $2500. At the very least, call All Star when you are looking for AC/ Heating repair estimates. You won't be sorry.
Description of Work: AC unit in attic was leaking, causing water damage to ceiling below the attic. Called All Star at 11:00 AM. Eric was at our front door at 1:30. Turns out our drain pipes were clogged and needed to be flushed out. Eric not only did the job in record time, but thoroughly explained why it happened and how we can prevent future problems. He was courteous , knowledgeable, and professional.

House was in Lago Vista, so a fair distance from Austin. Mitch (owner) came out to the house accomodating my schedule. I felt that he was straight forward and honest. Suggesting a system with fewer bells & whistles (like multi speed fans) which in his opinion would add maintenance expenses offsetting the lower operating costs. Team installed within days. Took them about 5 hours. They put drop clothes on my new floors, and cleaned up well when complete. This was a Carrier 4 ton, with a 13 seer rating. From my research, the price seemed fair, and I liked the idea of giving my business to a smaller local company, vs the large corporate players. This was a great experience and left me with high confidence in Mitch and his team, which were employees, not sub contractors. Mitch also seemed honest in not selling (I asked) an annual maintenance contract given there is not much that can actually be done with these new systems. Basic advise was to hose down the outside unit a few times a year and change filter regularly.
Description of Work: Replace a 18 yr old HVAC (4 ton) system. Old system was in a very tight attic with difficult access. Also needed to add a vent for a new room in the house.

The folks at ALL STAR installed my 13 SEER Carrier unit 15 years ago and replaced the compressor under warranty 2 yrs ago. However, I had got in the habit of calling another A/C service company (ARS) because they were very responsive in the past. I called "the other guys" when my A/C stopped working on the hottest day of the year. The guy from ARS correctly diagnosed the problem but gave me an estimate of $1150 to clean the coil and said it wasn't worth fixing. He instead proceeded to give me several options for having AC in my home again - ranging from $7500 to $15,000 and discussing how I was going to pay for it. I'm glad I suffered through heat for one more day to get a 2nd opinion - ALL STAR fixed the problem quickly, efficiently, and at a cost of $355. If you just like giving your money away, call the "other guys" - they'll charge you $1150 for the same thing or try to sell you something you don't need.
Description of Work: A/C not cooling, lines "freezing up". Service call ($75) on Saturday to measure pressures, no problems found, but tech suggested it was likely an "air-flow" problem. Called again to report same issues after tech left and he came back Monday morning to cut out and clean the coil and re-install. (Repair cost $280).

My system is cooling now, but I paid too much for the service and will not call All Star again.
Description of Work: I have used this company in the past and have been pleased, although on All Star's last visit out their fees doubled. Mitch (All Star's owner) seemed to notice upgrades I'd made to my home (new shutters) since his last visit, which made me uncomfortable. He seemed to be indicating that my financial well being could accommodate his higher billing rate. For the very same A/C maintenance (addition of acid, nitrogen, litter, etc. to my A/C system) my bill went from $65 in 2006 to $186 in 2010. I did notice that All Star now charges a $75 diagnostic fee (which seems unnecessary since it took him 5 minutes to ascertain that I had the same problem that I had last time). While Mitch is pleasant, prompt, and thorough, I have to question the increase in his fees.

Our heater when out at 3 am on the coldest night in Austin. I called All Star Heating & Cooling at 7:30 am and they were here at 1:30 pm. The cost was reasonable.
Description of Work: The technician found that a bug had flown and clogged a sensor. He cleaned out the sensor and now it works fine.

My air conditioner needed replaced and All Star had done all of my work for 15 years, so I called them. They came right out with the unit I chose and got the job done. The work they did was good and I have not had any problems with their service.
Description of Work: I had them install a new 3.5 ton air conditioner for me.
