This is a very long story. We hired Scott & Destiny Ball to build a 30 X 40 garage. I am a Navy Veteran & used my Veteran Land Board Loan (VLB) for this and a lien was filed. I fell for sob story about him being sick and even introduced them to my friends for referrals. It was suppose to cost 60K, it ended up costing 90K unfinished. In fact, the day before Christmas he handed us a 25K bill for further money to finish the building because of some "setbacks". We had already given thousands in overages, and had given 3K to cover his concrete team walking off the job, that he should have covered but we felt sorry for them. He tried to claim the 3K as gift later, when we hired a lawyer. I had referred his electrician & plumber to him, thank God, because they were the only reliable people he had besides the stucco and stone guys. His concrete/framing team weren't being paid (by their boss) and that turned into a major issue and cost us more money. Talking to them was like talking to people with multiple personalities. They were nice one minute and irate the next and we were the ones getting the shaft. I have all their texts and emails. They are con artist, and he was using pictures of other companies work as marketing proof, and he did not have any references, but I thought it was due to not knowing how important they were for future clients. They left us with an unfinished product but we just wanted rid of them so we cut our loses. They still have not removed the lien. The county website shows the lien, signed by him, but he claims he didn't put one on our house and won't sign the lien release. We now have a lawyer. but Scott Ball has ignored the two letters he sent so we are going to have to start the lawsuit as soon as the lawyer gets time to file. Do NOT hire these people. A good heart will not make a difference. I gave them gifts because I felt sorry for them and they still tried to take the 3K we paid for the concrete people walking off the job, and call it a "gift", yes, seriously! If we had not held back the last 10 % allowed by state law, they would have walked off not completing the stone work. They did not complete the electric or plumbing, nor did they finish the punch list but it was worth losing more money just to get rid of them. The plumber and electrician can vouch for this as well. Hope that helps. Sorry I did not post this a year ago.
