ADVANCED BATHTUB REFINISHING

I recently remodeled my bathroom. My house is 60 years old and it desperately needed it. I had it torn down to the studs and rebuilt completely, except I decided to keep my original cast iron bathtub. The tub had been painted before and was all messed up from the construction in the bathroom so the plan was to have it refinished after the work was all done. I talked to Advanced Bathtub Refinishing on the phone and decided to use them b/c they had such great reviews on Angie's List and were super nice. I was told that it was going to cost $75/hour to strip off anything that was currently on the tub and I agreed. In hindsight, I probably should have gotten an estimate beforehand b/c my contractor told me he didn't think it would take that long but he was way off. It ended up taking 2.5 hours b/c it was much much worse than we thought. He stripped the tub and did the refinishing and it looks like new. So all in all, the tub looks great! They did a really good job but my advice is to get an estimate beforehand if the tub has been painted or refinished in the past.

I called got a live person right away gave me a quote from a picture that I had taken. Did not try to upsale me like another company did. It was done with in an afternoon in between tenants and it looks great!!

Overall, I am pleased with the result. They did the job they were hired to do, and it looks good. They honored the discount coupon I had purchased with no additional charges added on. My only issue was the timing. I had clearly stated when I set up the appointment (and again when I confirmed it the preceding day) that I needed them to start NO LATER THAN 9:00 am and earlier would be better, as I had another commitment that afternoon. They agreed to that time. When it got to be 9:10 and they had not yet arrived, I called to reschedule. I was told their employee had to come all the way across town and had gotten caught in traffic due to an accident. I was also told and quot;if he isn't already in front of your house, he will be there in five minutes.and quot; They didn't want to reschedule, as it would cost them an open slot (not expressing any concern in what it might cost me). In fact, he showed up at around 9:30, much later than the and quot;five minutesand quot; I had been told. I was a bit nervous that now he would be rushing through the job and it wouldn't be done well. Fortunately, he was able to get the job done without having a negative impact on my afternoon commitment, and the tub appears to be okay. Lesson learned: They did a good job, but only schedule with this company when it won't matter if they are a bit late.

The total bill was more than I was expecting. The total amount should have been in the Big Deal Ad. The work was done well however.

We were very pleased with the job and would use them again.

The price was including the monthly coupons. It went very well. They were very good from scheduling appointments to giving the estimate and performing the work. Everything was fine and the follow up was good. They were top notch.

They were able to fix the spots, but it was expensive.

ADVANCED BATHTUB REFINISHING I was very happy with Advanced Bathtub Refinishing.

The workman was punctual, organized and pleasant. He took pains to close off the room so the odor would be contained and opened the window, The odor is short-lived and not that objectionable. Advanced Tub Refinishing was a pleasure to have in our house. I would definitely use them again.

They did an excellent job. I was very satisfied. The guy was very professional. There was a misunderstanding about the time he was supposed to arrive. He arrived 2 hours later than expected. He and the company apologized many times.

Our tub was was chipping and peeling badly. The estimate of a few thousand dollars to replace it was not an option and from everything that we read, DIY was only a very temporary solution. So, knowing that we wanted it done correctly and professionally we called Advanced Bathtub Refinishing. They had great reviews and gave them a shot. We were given an estimate that was reasonable (checked around and with folks familiar with the process). David arrived as scheduled and took care of the tub. It looked so much better than before, but we had a few questions about the aesthetics. Peter, the owner, came by and checked things out and took great care of us!! Knowing that we were DIYers and remodeling the bathroom, there was no upselling or unsolicited referrals! A few days after enjoying our tub, we accidentally cut through the outside surface while removing the caulk... we gave them a call and within a week, Marty swung by and fixed it at minimal cost!! They definitely want to leave their customers happy and satisfied!

From the first phone call to the last appointment to inspect the workmanship, everyone was friendly and efficient.

The initial experience with A.B.R. was good and we loved the new color - made the stalls look new. However, in June (6 months later) we noticed some paint flaking in one part of the shower stall. One of the original guys (the more experienced one, in my opinion) came out and worked several hours to completely sand off the area where the paint hadn't stuck and then touch it all up. Looked good. Then in November (11 months after the original job) another, different, small spot of flaking occurred. Again, the more experienced of the original two came out, sanded, and touched that up. We've not had a bit of flaking or other problems with the larger bathtub/shower stall. I'm of the opinion that the more experienced guy (I think his name was Martin, but it could have been Freddy, which is what my old note says were the two guys) was the one that did the bathtub/shower and the less experienced guy did the shower stall - I don't think he sanded the old finish thoroughly enough, hence the If we'd only had the bathtub/shower done and that experience, I'd rate them higher. The two patch jobs lower my rating. The 5 yr. warranty is good, we've not paid a dime for the patching. Hope we don't have to have any more done, since it's a hassle. I'd sure recommend that you be sure to move everything out of the bathroom(s) you have done because the paint is thick and the little globs do float around. Check all around for overspray right after they're done and either get them to clean it up or you do it with paint thinner. The key to a good finish is the amount of sanding and prep work they do. The paint just sprays on, though do examine the finished job very, very closely for drip runs immediately when they're done. They can touch those up pretty easily then. If it drys they have to sand a bunch before touching up.

They were wonderful from the very start to the end...The man who answers the phone is friendly and professional! The technician came when promised, did the work, returned when promised to seal the tub. I can't say enough good things about this company!!!

Everything with them was fine. I wasn’t really pleased with the finish because it didn’t come out as they described it. They were punctual and they came when they said they would. It’s possible that I didn’t quite understand what they were telling me or they didn’t understand me.

They were prompt and professional at every step of the process. The tub is glossy white and looks like new. I would not hesitate to use them again.

My house had old rust-stained bathtubs and sinks. I wanted to make sure they could be refinished without removing the plumbing. Peter came by to take a look and assured me this could be done. I thought I'd have to replace one sink because one of the faucets no longer worked, and a plumber had told me it couldn't be fixed. Peter took a picture of the sink, took it by a plumbing supply store, and e-mailed me info on who to contact to have the sink repaired. The end result is I had that sink repaired and then was able to have it refinished along with my other sink and the two tubs. Peter and Martin did a great job refinishing the sinks and tubs. They did one set of two and then the other. They look like new. I really appreciate Peter's going above and beyond to help with the broken sink. I couldn't be more pleased with the result and the reasonable price.

The refinished bathtubs and tiled walls are gorgeous. Their work is perfect. The workers were on-time and very nice. They cleaned up everything when the job was done, and talked to me about the correct type of products to clean the tubs with. I would highly recommend this company to anyone.

This is the second experience I've had with Advanced Bathtub Refinishing. Each time has been great. I needed the tub and tile surround fairly quickly so they sent someone on a Saturday. Everyone I interacted with was pleasant and professional. I am very pleased with the end result. If I had another tub I would use them again!

We had Peter from Advanced Bathtub provide us a quote for refinishing the tub and surround in our master bathroom so that we could get our house ready to sell. Peter was exceptionally professional and courteous, and had great references. Unfortunately, we did not go with Advanced Bathtub originally as we received a lower quote from another company (see review for All Surface Renew). When that company messed up the job and left us in the lurch with a half-finished bathtub (while our house was under contract!), Peter saved the day! I called him in a panic before 8:00 in the morning and he had 2 gentleman come to our house within 24 hours (I think it was that same day). These guys came early and stayed very late to fix the mess that the other company had made, and in the end, the tub looked perfect and we were able to sell our house. Peter also provided a written warranty for the work when our buyers requested it. I only wish we had gone with Advanced Bathtub from the beginning, as it ended up costing us about $100 more than our original quote for them to fix the mess the other company had made. I highly recommend Peter and his crew from Advanced Bathtub. They are professional, prompt, courteous, and take pride in their top-notch work.

Peter was prompt in responding and everything went well. The old tub resurfacing job from a different company wasn't done well, and I can definitely see that the quality of the tub resurfacing was excellent. One thing I didn't like about Peter was that he kept disparaging the quality of all other resurfacing companies-- I didn't like his attitude but ultimately went with him because of the reviews and the 5-year warranty. His assistant Roy did a good job with the resurfacing, but did a line of caulk so thin that I couldn't even tell that it was there. Luckily, the guy who did my grout came back and re-caulked the tub line so that it matched everything else.

The company did a great job. They taped and protected everything and I had no problems. I am recommending them to others. The only hitch (not the company's fault) is that they use pretty noxious chemicals. Ideally, I would keep the area closed off for a day ot two.
