It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. They were outstanding. I would definitely use them again. They were very professional. They did what I asked them to do. I made some suggestions on other things and he was very open. He took his time and didn't rush. He did a good job. The price was very good. They were excellent.

The new buyer received a quote from another company that was lower so I did not proceed with the work, leaving it to the buyer to follow up.
Description of Work: I got in touch with this company for a quote to correct a wiring situation in my house subpanel (identified during a home inspection). The company's owner asked for a picture and was able to give me a reasonable quote via email.

They were very good. They did good work and were here exactly when they said they would be. I was pleased with them.
Description of Work: I bought the "Big Deal" for AC Electric. They installed some outdoor lighting. These are big lamps that light the side of the house. I spent $50 more to get them to do a little extra. I bought the lights and I just needed an electrician to put them up.

Mike with AC Electric came out originally to get our pool pump working. The pool service couldn't figure out the problem but determined that it must be electrical. Mike replaced the breaker and everything worked fine. He fixed it very quickly. Then he looked at the other items on my list and recommended that we try changing bulbs in several fixtures from halogen or flourescent to LED to try to prevent the fixtures from flickering or going out. He also needed to price some parts to fix the carport motion sensors so that he could give us an estimate for that work. He e-mailed an estimate of $560 to install 4 motion sensors. Mike came out with the parts and an employee and started the employee on installing the sensors while Mike left for a bit. When I checked back, Mike said that they actually only needed to use 2 sensors rather than 4, and they quickly had them installed. In the meantime, we had purchased some LED bulbs to try in the ceiling fixtures, but there were still 3 that did not work properly, even with the LED bulbs. Mike and his employee came in and looked at the problem fixtures and determined that there was a part that needed to be replaced. On the way out the gate they worked on the photocell problem at the front gate. Mike came back with parts in a couple of days and repaired a couple of the ceiling fixtures and looked at the photocell problem again which turned out to be in need of a new bulb. I had to contact Mike one more time because I had forgotten to point out a third ceiling fixture that did not reliably work, but had been working when he was here repairing the other two. Due to the reduction in the number of sensors required to complete the carport work, Mike gave me a bill for $425. All of my e-mails and phone calls were returned in a timely and professional manner.
Description of Work: Repaired breaker that was keeping pool pump from working, replaced photocell on outdoor spotlight, replaced one motion sensor in carport and added another, repaired 3 ceiling spotlights, recommended replacing some halogen and flourescent bulbs to reduce heat in several fixtures that were causing lights to flicker or go out.

I purchased an Angie's List Deal for "2 hours of Electrical Service" so that I could have some minor work done to replace electrical outlets and light switches in my home. I also needed to have a light fixture installed and the wiring inspected in that fixture prior to installation. I contacted AC Electric to schedule my service appointment. I spoke with Debbie on the phone and after listening to what I wanted done, she said she would call me back with an appointment time. She called me back that same evening and asked if I would be available the next morning! I was extremely pleased with the prompt scheduling and Debbie's courteous attitude. To me, it makes a big difference as to whether I do business with a company again if my experience on the phone is a pleasant one or not. And in this case my experience was first class! Aaron from AC Electric arrived on time and ready to go to work. I showed him what needed to be done and he started right away. Since I was paying by the hour, I appreciated that Aaron was finishing one outlet and quickly moving on to the next one. He installed some better quality exterior outlet covers than what I had and showed me where some of my switches and outlets were bad after pulling them out of the wall. Aaron was professional and friendly and I liked how he explained things as he worked. The final item to be installed was my laundry room light fixture. He inspected the wiring and told me nothing was wrong with it and then installed my fixture. Even though the work took a little more than the 2 hours of work I purchased on the Angie''s List Deal, I only ended up paying for 1/2 hour of extra time thanks to Aaron's conscientiousness. After the work was completed there was a minor problem with the light fixture installation so I called AC Electric about it the following day. They apologized for the problem and came out the same day to fix it! Service like that is almost non-existent these days so my overall rating for this company was an 'A' even though I had to report a minor problem after the initial installation. I would definitely call AC Electric again and I would recommend them to any of my friends and family.
Description of Work: The services performed were replacing numerous electrical outlets both inside and outside my home, replacing light switches, and installing a light fixture in my laundry room (I supplied the light fixture).

He came out one time and gave an estimate that I thought was too high. I waited and used them for a different service as I had the coupon. The guy who actually did the work, did a good job and was nice to work with. I am far away from them so I probably would go with someone closer the next time.
Description of Work: He moved a chandelier from one place to another. I have a light hanging from the ceiling and it was hanging too low. He figured out a way to shorten it even though it was tricky.

They gave me a good quote. I'm very satisfied with them. I thought they were good. I will call them again. I thought they were extremely responsive. Whenever I called a left a message, I got a call back right away.
Description of Work: This is an Angie's Big Deal. I had them replace some ungrounded electrical plugs and replace some ungrounded circuits. I also contracted with them outside of the Big Deal to replace my entire circuit box.

On January 2, 2013, I took time off work to meet Mike at my home to discuss a recessed canned lighting project I wanted in my kitchen, breakfast area, living room, etc. Mike was friendly enough and on time. Mike appeared to be knowledgeable but didn't seem overly eager about the work I wanted done. At end of the visit, Mike asked me to send him an email with my contact information (email and phone) so he could get a quote to me. Mike confirmed receiving my email before leaving my home and promised a quote within a matter of a few days. By January 15, 2013, 13 DAYS had passed and NO QUOTE. No phone call or email informing of any delay with the quote. So, I sent Mike an email following up on the quote. Mike NEVER replied! After waiting another 9 DAYS (January 24, 2013), I called AC Electric and spoke with Debi and I asked her where my quote was. Debi replied, "Oh, we didn't get that out to you?" Debi then asked for my email and said she would get the quote to me "right away." A little later that afternoon, Debi emailed asking, "Can you please send information on what work you want done?" Excuse me! I took time off work to meet Mike at my home to discuss the work I wanted done. That was the sole purpose of my site visit. I emailed Debi asking her if she was kidding me. Debi's next email went on to say that there were two new customers with the same name (mine) that lived in the same area and some confusion arose from it and that she would get a quote to me "as soon as possible." So, I asked Debi if the other new customer that I shared the same name with and live in the same area has also been waiting over 3 weeks for a quote, too. Debi replied, "No, only you are waiting for a quote." Here's what I don't understand - if my quote was confused with the quote of another new customer with the same name as mine and living in the same area, why did he get his quote and why am I STILL WAITING for my quote? Wouldn't a simple process of elimination render the sole remaining quote be mine? I believe I was lied to about that same name/same area new customer confusion as a failed attempt to cover up incompetence. At an absolute minimum, Debi or Mike should have contacted me to clear up any "confusion" they may have had instead of waiting three weeks to figure it out when I called. I told Debi that up to this point I was thoroughly unimpressed with the way they carelessly handled this situation and that I have reservations hiring AC Electric to do the work if this is the standard of how thier business is conducted. Debi said she hoped that I would hold off on my judgment and that they would appreciate a chance to bid on my work. She ended the email with, "Please watch for a proposal soon." It is now January 29, 2013, (another 5 days passed) and I still DO NOT have a quote. I emailed Debi this morning with one last attempt to obtain a quote. Over 4 hours later, Debi and Mike have failed to reply, email or otherwise. 27 days waiting for a quote that Debi says "generally goes out the say day as we do site visits." PATHETIC!
Description of Work: WHAT AN ABSOLUTE JOKE! DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME ON THESE PEOPLE!!!

Unfortunately I didn't have a good experience with AC Electric. I spoke to the office and scheduled a time to have Mike out about a week and a half ahead of time. I confirmed via email and send over our inspection report head of time. The day of, after making arrangements to be at the house, they called and said they needed to reschedule. I can't comment on the pricing, services, etc., but the initial process of setting up the appointment and them actually showing up was poor.
Description of Work: I am currently doing a remodel of a home and had asked AC Electric to come out and bid the project. I did not use them for the actual services.

Great experience. They actually answered their phone (multiple other companies went straight to voicemail) and helped me problem solve over the phone. When that didn't work the electrician offerred to come by that day.
Description of Work: Outlets on several rooms stopped working. I tried all the reset options without results. This company came out the same day I called and discovered the problem and fixed it at no charge.

Aaron the electrician did a wonderful job. There was a problem putting a second light due to the house structural issues. Aaron was able to put a temporary solution until it could be repaired fully at later date. It took nearly 2 months to fix the problem, after several emails.
Description of Work: Placing a remote on ceiling fan in master bedroom. Placing outdoor lighting on the back of the house.

Used the Big Deal for $99 for 2 hours of service. The price was very fair. The electrician arrived on time, was friendly, and really seemed to know what he was doing. He explained why we were having problems and fixed everything that needed fixing. We had purchased the wall outlets for the bathroom and the sconces ahead of time, so we only paid for the electrical service plus a couple of dollars for the electrical box. He took our other bathroom renovation plans into consideration and helped place the sconces so they'd work with everything else. Would hire AC electrical again.
Description of Work: Fixed a problem with the breaker box (the switches were loose), replaced GFCI outlets in bathrooms and made sure they were wired properly, and converted bathroom wiring from an overhead fixture to sconces.

He did a great job however my daughter noticed that the fixture over the sink was slightly off-center, but probably not noticable to the common observer.
Description of Work: He replaced a light fixture in the dining room with a new chandelier. He then rewired in the kitchen to install the same fixture over the sink underneath the kitchen cabinet.

While I cannot comment on the quality or pricing of this company, I can advise readers that if you need a job done in a reasonable amount of time, you ought to look elsewhere. I bought an Angies List "Big Deal" on October 31. 6-weeks later, I requested a refund to my credit card because AC Electric had still not been able to work me into their schedule. Mike did come out to my home shortly after I bought the Big Deal. Two weeks later, I had to write and ask for the proposal. 4 weeks later I cancelled when the company had still not performed the job. They may be great at what they do. You just can't need it done within a certain (reasonable) timeframe. The deal they were not able to attend to was a $1500+ job.

The scheduling of the service was frustrating. It took almost 5 weeks from the time of initial contact to get an electrician in my home and that was with me calling and emailing several times to set up service. Once the installation crew came, they arrived on time and finished in a timely manner. The quality of work was great. My wife said she could hear them cussing a lot, so other than that the installation went fine.
Description of Work: They removed an existing bathroom ventilation fan and replaced it with a new fan that I had purchased. The wiring and circuitry was already present so it was more of a replacement than new installation. They did have to go in the attic for a bit to install a wood brace between the ceiling rafters to support the heavier weight of the new fan apparatus.

I originally had a bit of difficulty getting the appointment scheduled, however once the appointment was made everything went smoothly. The electrician showed up on time to install our ceiling fan. He was quick, courteous, and went straight to work. The fan and controls were installed within our two our purchase price and we have not had any problems.

I purchased a Big Deal offer for AC Electric - 2 hours for a fixed rate. I called them within a couple days of making the purchase to schedule a visit. They were very booked up, and they said they had been surprised at how many people had responded to the Big Deal. I don't think they were ready for the volume of appointments they had to make. On the day of the service, the technician was prompt. The exterior lights were installed quickly. But the technician could not figure out what the problem with the plugs and fixtures was. I think he had expected to just have to reset a GFCI, but instead he began a long investigation into the house's circuitry. Finally he called another colleague, who came over to help him. Together, after almost 4 hours, they finally determined that the problem was a broken wire in our wall. I decided not to get it fixed right away because it would have involved cutting into the drywall. I still have not gotten it fixed. Overall, I was impressed that the technician was willing to put in extra time to diagnose the problem, even though the Big Deal had been only for 2 hours. He did not charge me anything extra for this time. But I was disappointed that my problem was not resolved. I also decided not to follow up with them immediately to fix the problem because they were so busy and hard to book. I think Angie's List should do a better job of letting providers know how much business these Big Deal offers might generate. Some of them might decide not to take the offer if they understood how much extra work it would generate.
Description of Work: I needed 2 things done: 1) Install 4 new exterior light fixtures. 2) Identify why some plugs and overhead fixtures were not working and fix that.

Sometimes, as it did with you, it takes some time to "chase a few rabbits" before we can nail the problem. We always try the easiest solution first, and most of the time that takes care of it. In your case, it was obviously NOT the easy solution, but I am sure that it was one you were glad to know about for when you are ready to deal with it. Things have settled down now and we have learned much through our Angie's List Big Deal experience, especially in regards to pacing ourselves.
