Erin arrived on time and got to work immediately once I showed him what I needed done. He had to go up in the hot attic to do part of the work. Once he was finished inside, he went back up in the attic and fluffed up the insulation. I really appreciated that! He completed the task within the amount of time I was quoted and was professional and friendly. Please note that I used an Angie's List Big Deal so the $99 mentioned was the reduced coupon price.
Description of Work: Installation of three pendant lights over my island including installing the electrical boxes.

.An Angie's list special offer tempted me and the positive reviews sealed the deal to get me to try AC Electric. I am preparing my home for sale and needed to switch out 6 light fixtures and I needed a door bell replaced. A++, These guys are awesome. Don't pay attention to the negative review below. Anyone who gets electrical work done then doesn't pay is not worthy of writing a review. I was looking for a good electrician, came across AC Eelectric and I too bought a $99 coupon. Aaron came out today and did a abolutely great job. Very professional, friendly and curteous. He worked quickly and efficiently and got the job done right. We are getting more electrical work done soon and will definitely use them again!
Description of Work: We had some plugs installed and dropped wire from a light in our shower to switch.

Premier Hot Tubs recommended Mike Short, A. C. Electric to do the electrical hookup for the spa I purchased from them. I called Mike when I had a delivery date scheduled and he said he would coordinate directly with Premier. The spa was delivered and a couple hours later Mike showed up and despite less than favorable conditions after it had been raining pretty hard, Mike went to work connecting the spa. Within a couple hours he was done and the spa was powered up. Mike did a great job, worked after hours on a Friday night to get this finished and was very reasonably priced. Very happy with his work and would definitely use him again.

Dear Customer-- Thank you for your review--although I am puzzled by it. The owner, Mike Short came to your home as he said he would, when he said he would, and did exactly what you wanted him to do. He recalls that you and your husband were quite nice and seemed happy with the work he did for you. However, your review says that no work was done for you, then says that the work done was just adequate, and then we were told that you have requested a refund. Also, your purchase date was listed as June 28, and your work was done within two weeks of your first contacting us. In any service industry that is certainly acceptable for a routine (non-emergency) call. I am sorry to be so slow to understand, but why would you rate our work so poorly and request a refund when the work met with your satisfaction at the time. Why not just call us? We work very hard to take care of our customers, and do our best to work around their schedules. Please feel free to call us with your honest complaints... we listen and make every effort to meet customer expectations. --AC Electric

I initailly set up an appointment with Mike who asked me to call him back the morning of the service call to remind him. I did and he said that he could not make it today because of health reasons. The folowing week would be better. I stated no problem but when? He said to call him on Monday. I did, set up another appontment. Met him at the house to review what I wanted to be done. A simple circuit check for one outdoor plug that had no power and to replace two outdoor light fixtures. He told me to go and buy the fixtures and he would have someone out this week to do the work. No show again for the week. I called him again and he said that he would be gone next week but would have Barry come by and do the work on Thursday. I called Barry, who also said to call him to remind him on Thursday. I did and Barry indicated that he could not make it that day due to working on another job. I said, o.k. how about next week. Yes, Tuesday would be much better. Again, a no show. I called Mike who indicated that he would be out that afternoon to do the job. Again, a no show and never a call back on any occasion to follow-up. I actually took off from work twice to meet them there and eventually just left the fixtures in the garage and asked them to come anytime during the day of the previoulsy scheduled appointments.I am done with this guy. A total lack of respect for other people and their time. And for Angie supporting the $99.00 worthless coupon. I will ask for a refund!
Description of Work: I pre-purchased a $99.00 coupon for work from Angie on the AC Electric website so therefore thought I was committed to using these guys. After over four weeks of "no shows" I have elected to "eat" the $99.00 and seek an electrician who will do what he says.

The owner was a bit gruff on the phone every time we spoke, but maybe he was just busy. we bought the $99-for-2-hrs coupon, and at first it was a bit difficult to schedule an appt time; i had to really be persistent and pushy in my (multiple) requests. I think the owner finally got sick of me, so I finally got an appt time. This is why I gave this company a B instead of A rating. But the owner ended up sending a worker by the name of Aaron who was so good/knowledgeable/friendly he almost completely made up for that hiccup ... almost. So if I was basing my review strictly on the actual worker who had completed the work, I would have given an A. But due to my initial experience, I have to give a B. In addition, I have since called and left a message asking to schedule another appt to have more work done but have never received a call back. I imagine they're very busy, but I would think a company would value repeat business. So although I'd love to have Aaron back over to do some more work, I am now looking for other electricians on Angie's List.
Description of Work: Had 2 pendant lights hung. The workman (Aaron) did an excellent job. He was the best part of this experience. Really nice guy who went above and beyond to help us. He even quickly rewired a ceiling fan that my husband/I had sort of miswired and had it working properly in no time. He's just a really nice guy who genuinely takes pride in doing an excellent job, which can be hard to find in this day and age.

None of the email correspondence I received had any greeting or signatures/names. Had no idea who was responding to in order to know where a scheduling confusion may have occurred. For our initial appointment they replied they'll will be at our house at 2pm on the agreed date. We did get the call that morning to see if they can come at 10, but we though they were just trying to see if we would by any chance be available then. It is now obvious that the technician calling had no idea we had a 2pm appointment as we waited until 4pm for someone to show up.The 2nd appointment was scheduled for 9am a few days later (as I always extend the courtesy of another chance). It has even been confirmed by an email from them (no idea who sent it) and then they asked me to confirm the time again 2 days prior to the appointment. Nobody showed up. There has been no apology or remorse shown for us waiting for 2 hrs initially.The owner emailed later with a one liner that said sorry, we thought the 2nd appointment was at 2pm. He offered to make it up but too little too late.I understand they sold many of these deals, but there's a difference in waiting weeks to get an appointment due to a busy schedule and not having a handle on the scheduling. I have seen this over and over and over from people who are good at their trade and then decide to start a business with no thought put into the business side of things. Every forum you go to says go with the local guy, ma and pa shop for this and that but my experience has been validated enough that big box retailers for carpet installations and big chains for other services do not turn me off.
Description of Work: Bought Angie's list deal for 2hrs of services. I got the deal because of good reviews they had on Angie's list. They may be good electricians but their front office needs an overhaul.They have not shown up for either of the 2 scheduled appointments, wasting hours of our time.Angie's List refunded the money right away.

The guy was really good. He was so wonderful. He was here and he did a lot of little things for me and checked up some line. He was trying to fix one of my other fans. When he put it down the whole bulb was with water and he was all soaked. I took his shirt and put it in the dryer and he kept on working. He only charged me $6.00. I cannot tell you how great he was. He helped me out because I had a line to my swimming pool that kept snaking off the circuit. I thought it was the line and he had to go dig in and all that. Checked it all out for me and he said no it was not the line and told me it was the pump. He did a lot of good little things in the house. He changed the new fixtures that were blinking, I do not know why. He changed the wiring on those. He was just a friendly guy.

They were reasonable. Aaron came and did the work and did a good job. I was really pleased with what he did. It turned out to be a much bigger project than we thought was needed. He stayed and completed and did wiring and he went into the attic as well in order to do the work and he got the job done within a day.
Description of Work: This was for electrical work. They had to put in a GFI breaker.

I called Mike today at noon. He came out to my house at 2:00pm. I needed him to look at the electrical in the front section of my house. Each time I turned on the lights the breaker tripped and the ceiling fan in my daughter's room wasn't working. My husband is out of town and I know nothing about electrical. Mike said he thought it was the breaker, he went to Home Depot, bought a new breaker and replaced it, which corrected the problem. He looked at the ceiling fan and pulled out the socket section of the the lights bulbs that had broken off into the light fixture.The fan is old and will need to be replaced, which is what I suspected as it is over 7 years old and I think only around $50 new. Mike was super nice and did not charge me a service call - only the price of the breaker. I highly recommend him and I really appreciated his time. In the future should anything come up he will be the first and only one I call.

Mike Short, Owner, coordinated the scheduling of the above-mentioned tasks, after a phone discussion of the work we desired to be performed. He was service-oriented and organized. The project spanned slots of time over 2 different days (we decided to add more tasks once we saw their quality of work during the first day), and Aaron was our electrician both times. Aaron showed-up on-time, was very courteous and professional, and he really knows his stuff. He also took the time to exlain each of the tasks he performed in-detail, making helpful suggestions throughout the process, and never made us feel rushed. Aaron is an exceptional electrician. The results were outstanding and reasonably-priced. I would not hesitate to hire Aaron/Mike again for electrical work. A+

Aaron got here right on time almost to the minute. He consulted with me about what I wanted and made his suggestions about how it could be done "right" rather than the sort of glued together job I had in mind. I was immediately confident to let him do what he thought should be done. He completed the whole job in two hours and left everything looking wonderful.
Description of Work: Aaron put in a ceiling fan on my front porch. I was not looking for a fancy job and told him the wiring could be exposed if that was easier. But he said he wanted it to look as nice as was possible. So he climbed up in the attic and found a wire that he could hook into (and found another wire that was lying there unconnected to anything but "hot," so he fixed that along the way. He did I much better job than I had asked for and did it quickly and professionally. A great person. Superb work.

Barry, their technician, is a REALLY nice guy and correctly diagnosed all of our problems - and then fixed them. He even fixed a light switch for us at no extra charge - just noticed it, and fixed it. Barry was punctual, professional, a nice guy, and he never tried to "up-sell" me on something I didn't need. I would definitely call on AC Electric again for my electrical needs, especially if I can get Barry again. Highly recommended.

The estimate I received from AC Electric to fix two (2) outlets was well over $200 - much higher than the quotes I received from 3 other electric companies in the area. After AC Electric sent me the $200+ estimate for their services they were eager to come out the next day. However, once I informed them that I decided to purchase the $99 deal from Angie's List, for the same services, I was then told it would be 2-3 months before they would be able to come out and fix the 2 outlets. Needless to say, I asked Angie's List for a refund and I did not speak to AC Electric again. Not recommended.
Description of Work: Stay away from AC Electric & call Bo James Electric (512)917-5794 for great service & reasonable prices! He fixed my outlets in less than an hour and was incredibly knowledgeable and helpful! He also gave me some ideas regarding updating the lighting in our condo for no charge. He was professional every step of the way and I cannot say the same for AC Electric.

AC Electric did a fabulous job. Aaron arrived promptly and was very courteous and professional. He worked quickly and did a great job putting in new outlets and installing a ceiling fan. We were so pleased with Aaron's work, that we are scheduling him to return to do more work. We highly recommend AC Electric.
Description of Work: Installation of a ceiling fan which required an additional switch installation. Also installation of two new outlet boxes.

Very satisfied overall. There were a few calls back and forth with the owner (Mike) to get prices, ask questions and confirm the appointment. This was mostly OK though it wouldn't hurt to be a bit less snappy with potential customers. The work was performed by Aaron who was extremely courteous and professional. One of the ceiling boxes for the fan turned out to be loose (as previously installed by the home builder) so Aaron made sure that was corrected before completing the fan installation. I also purchased separate remote controls for a couple of the fans - they were touch screen ones that Aaron had not installed before. They were a bit finicky to get installed and responding correctly but he managed to get them working properly. I would not hesitate to use them again - remember that it probably won't be the owner doing the work so once you get past scheduling the work with him you should be golden.
Description of Work: Installation of 4 ceiling fans. This involved installing 3 brand new fans (including remote controls) and relocating one existing fan from one room to another.

I used an Angie's list coupon for this work and paid with a check for the three GFI outlets. There was no other paperwork or receipt. I have no complaint about the work that was performed but I found dealing with the owner unpleasant. Initially, I had to reschedule work because I had the flu. It took Mr. Short several days to call me back after I called to say I got well and he apologized for the delay (no problem there). The afternoon after the work was performed, I plugged in my hair dryer and got no response. I pressed the button on the GFI and still got no response, so I called Mr. Short and he asked if it would work for Aaron to come back the next morning to check it out and I said "yes." Right after that, my husband pressed the GFI and the outlet worked wouldn't you know. When I called Mr. Short and told him that apparently my problem was operator error, he said in a very derisive and condescending tone, "Well, we learned something today, didn't we? You're so smart." No way to treat a customer. Otherwise, I would have given them a higher rating.
Description of Work: The vendor's employee, Aaron, replaced three outlets in two bathrooms with GFI outlets, repaired two non-functioning exterior outlets, and removed a GFI in the garage.
