Description of Work: She has helped me with paperwork as well as combining my household with my parent's when I inherited their house. Deciding what to keep or not keep would have probably never happened without her help. She helps plan as well as actually doing the work.

Description of Work: I have been chronically disorganized since my head trauma. To complicate matters, I moved with my entire household of stuff into my grandmother's house. My grandmother was a pack rat. I needed help getting everything organized.

Description of Work: Overall I am pretty disappointed with A Helping Hand. | |Initially I felt pretty positive after my phone consultation with Randi Lyman & during the first part of the home visit. I knew she wouldn't be helping with anything on this day. But I did expect to mostly be working on our plans to get going. I felt as if we mainly just talked.. Towards the end of visit she showed me some ways to re-use some of my furniture & then simply validated some of my own plans for organizing & some redecorating. |I had to ask her about hiring people to actually help me move things, haul things off & help with the heavy housework. Also, I have a chronic illness which prevents me from doing the things I used to be able to do. So I really need names of people I can trust & while names were provided, it bothered me that it was like an afterthought. |I was under the impression that this organization would have more access to services specific to their client's needs, not just a few mom & pop businesses that "may or may not" even be bonded. | |I have not called back even though at end of home visit Randi did promise to be ready to chip in & help me herself next time. | |About Randi Lyman, she is an exceptionally nice person. I truly enjoyed our visit & felt really motivated,with my hand -outs under my arm, my ideas vaidated & a couple of new ideas. I was ready to get going! It wasn't until the following day, when my husband reminded me of the reason I called in the 1st place. After thinking more, it dawned on me that I really can't afford Randi & the other service people I need to employ to meet my needs. | |I couldn't rate lower than C because I think that some people might be helped simply by, Randi coming by with handouts & her great gift for motivating. Plus, I believe that she believes that she's helping people and who am I to say different, just because it didn't work out for me. Some people don't have to worry about how much money they spend if something worksfor them. | |But, there are also those like me, who do have to think about these things. Therefore the "C" rating. However, if Randi Lyman ever decided to leave this profession to become a motivational speaker. I would definitely go to her seminar. | | | | | | |

Description of Work: Randi helped me incorporated recently inherited furniture into my home. She also helped me go thru every thing in my garage and determined how storage areas would be created to put back the things I would be keeping.

Description of Work: Organized my food prep area in my kitchen and did an inventory and organization of master closet. We worked the whole 3 hours nonstop.

Description of Work: Helped me organize my office, gave me helpful suggestions, and motivated me to finish the project! Randi was an absolute gem and was super helpful!!!!

Description of Work: After my phone consult with Randi she emailed me a detailed questionnaire inquiring about my organizational needs and asked which area i wanted to work on first. Randi is punctual, very upbeat and has lots of energy....we started at the front door and went from the entry way to the linen closet, guest bath, office and closet, guest room and closet, kitchen, coat closet, garage, laundry room, master suite, bath and closets. She had insightful recommendations for each area and worked with me for 3 and half hours nonstop.

Description of Work: Randi not only did a great job of helping me declutter a very disorganized closet, but she also taught me some organizing techniques so I could apply them to other areas of my house. In addition, she did a tour of my house and gave me simple suggestions for every room. I implemented many of them. Her pricing is competitive and she provides value for every minute of her time.

Description of Work: Randi came in and helped me make order out of chaos. She set up files and helped me get items into these files. She helped me dispose of items no longer needed. Most of all, she was hands on with suggestions and encouragement to help me make real progress in setting up systems to help me avoid future crises.

Description of Work: Randi helped me clear out and organize my home office in preparation for installation of new carpet and painting. This chore has awaited my attention for at least five years; I just could not make it happen.

Description of Work: We talked about my situation and what I wanted to accomplish. We then walked through our house, noting areas of concern. We then started organizing the first area that I wanted to clean out. We got a lot accomplished. I could have never done what we did in three hours in three weeks.

Description of Work: The owner, Randi Lyman is a certified Professional Personal Organizer who I have worked with for over a year to reorganize my workshop, my home office and my office/computer filing systems. Caring for an elderly parent for three years resulted in a backlog of paperwork and materials that I needed assistance with reorganizing. Arriving promptly for our scheduled three hours of work together, Randi is professional while being supportive in the work of assisting me in accomplishing my organizational goals. Not only do we accomplish sorting, organizing, filing, and disposing of clutter while creating strategies that assist me with maintaining the systems I need for my business and hobbies, but Randi is fun to work with throughout the process. Based on her expertise with organizational systems, she offers constructive suggestions and has many organizational approaches to assist me in meeting my goals of simplifying and maximizing my work spaces. With Randi's skillful helping hands and expertise, we have organized my workshop, my office and my computer/filing systems.

Description of Work: Randi Lyman, Owner is a certified Professional Personal Organzer who has been in business on her own for about 10 years. Prior to starting her own business, she worked as a professional with several large corporate organizations in the Chicago area. She assisted me in reorganizing my home office, prescribed office systems and is still working with me to implement these systems in terms of my specific needs. Randi is a seasoned professional. She arrived on time and worked efficiently for 3 hours in my home office. At the end of our time together, we had disposed of a lot of items I had not been willing to part with. We also arrived at several procedures that I can implement to stay focussed on essentials, work efficiently on priorities I establish, file and retrieve essential documents, and dispose of unnecessary stuff that comes across my one-person office desk. I am still working with Randi to assure that the processes we arrived at in our first encounter are working and meeting my needs.
