They did not charge me more than the Big Deal cost. They were supposed to do trim and doors. One guy came, which was fine, but he was very slow. It was supposed to be 8 hours worth of work, but he was really slow. He was nice enough but he didn't get done what I would have expected. He was professional but I felt that maybe he delayed in doing his work. He was getting paid for 8 hours but he didn't stay at a pace that would have been expected.

The work itself was good. The painters were doing the details when I was at the house. They were excellent workers and did very nice detail work. It was a lady and her son. They do good work, but he is so busy that it can be hard to reach and talk to the owner.

They arrived when scheduled and worked four days straight. As we had not moved in yet we gave them a key for access. We stopped by several times, and they were always working, very polite to let us wander the house. They even had the sales rep call once the had one room done to make sure we were happy with the color. One room needed at third coat which we discussed with the foreman, but there was no additional charge. We changed our mind asking them to paint the kitchen cabinets after they had started the job. They gave us a prompt reply with the bid, which we approved. The even removed an in-wall toilet paper holder, drywalled and patched it and did not charge us extra. We cannot recommend this company highly enough. Their work was excellent, clean up was great, and Kip, their estimator is wonderful to work with. We have just hired them to do our master bath, as we had not had that done originally, thinking we would remodel. That project is on hold, so they will now come back and paint that last room. They are even changing out lighting fixtures and nstalling an exhaust fan for us in the bath. We will use them again and have recommended them already to several folks. Great job, great company!

The handyman installed a new door frame for the back patio door. There were a couple of issues with this job: 1. No attention to detail at all. I still see nail holes, improper caulking and lousy paint job. The paint was not matched to the existing stain and now it looks awkward. 2. In a hurry to get on to the next job. The door latch was not carved out proper and the door was not locking. I had to call him to come back and redo it. I will never hire the handyman again.

21rst Century Painting was professional, and very helpful with paint colors, and purchase information. When I realized that doing this special would not be cost effective or logical, 21rst Century was helpful and accepting of me not being able to use the special.

The folks from the office and for the estimate were great to work with! The crew had some minor issues, but the office responded well! The day of the prep, the crew failed to actually "clean" the home as I was told they would do. The office sent them back that day to properly prep. I was told they were and interior crew and this was their first exterior. The painting job itself is mostly good... 2 areas of concern: 1: some facia boards should have been repaired before painting, the paint is not staying on in those areas. I feel partially responsible for having not seen it and asking for it to be repaired prior to painting. 2: The metal top to my chimney was painted. I REALLY don't understand this at all. It looks aweful, but I just try to ignore it. When I told someone in the office about it they didn't want to get the crew in trouble and opted to speak to the crew vs. management. I understand, I work for a living, too..... and no one wants to get others "in trouble", but it really has annoyed me over time. I should have been more proactive initially. I would hire these guys in the future, I would just pay better attention.

It was okay. I think the contractor was a little distracted. His wife was having some health issues and so I had some difficulty getting him and his getting back to me, but once we make connections, the work was fine and everything. This was I thought they finishes out much more quickly than I would have expected. They were very efficient. I would give them a B. I have a feeling that these companies are not interested in small jobs. I think they wanted a big job since we asked them to do a single room and it's not a high priority for them. The room is nicely painted. I've no complaints. They showed up when they said they were going to. It seems to me that he did not really come back to check on the work. Another was he has his workers do it and I normally expect the contractors to come back and check and see if it was satisfactory, and he did not. I was surprised that the guys just left and that was pretty much it.

He did a wonderful job and asked if he could do more because he finished early.

I purchased the big deal coupon for this service and the service was okay. They stood up and did their work promptly. They accidentally painted my closet doors grey. I had to clean up all their cigarette buds when they were done, and it was really irritating. I wouldn’t hire them again. Their work was okay. I think I paid more and it may be twice as much with the big deal. Their punctuality was fine.

Nice, careful job - but took 2 days longer than initially estimated and we needed to move in so it was close.

I needed my medium-sized, kitchen textured and painted. I had three companies with high Angie's List rankings bid on the job. 21st Century was the mid-range bid. They provided the most comprehensive documented bid of the three. The fact that the bid listed everything the work team would do in detail made me feel confident in knowing what I was getting for my money. I also thought that if the company put this much work into their bids, perhaps I would see these same characteristics (e.g. detail-orientated and thoroughness) in their work. I did. The job took two days. The work crew was made up of the same two men both days. (I unfortunately did not write down their names and have forgotten them.) The work crew showed up on time both days. They were respectful of me and my home. They worked quietly and quickly (no loud music or banter) and were very professional. They did an excellent job of tapping the cabinets and counter tops, not a drop of texture or paint got on my floor tiles, and their drywall patchwork was excellent. As for the painting, they used rollers and brushes, and it turned out beautiful. After painting, they closely inspected all the walls (I assisted) to make sure the paint had gotten into all the nooks and crannies created by the texture. When we found spots needing a touch up, they hand painted the area to make sure it blended perfectly. They went above and beyond to make sure I was pleased with the outcome. Not once did I feel resistance or disrespect when I pointed out a spot, smudge or section I wanted touched up. Recommendations for improvement: The work crew did not do as good of a job cleaning up the wallpaper fragments left on top of my upper cabinets as I expected. Additionally, they used my garden hose outside to wash off their equipment and tools (e.g. air compressor, brushes and pans). However, where they washed their stuff left paint run-off in the middle of my yard. The paint washed away after a few weeks, but I would have preferred them to wash things off by the service fence. They also forgot to wash off the hose after using it and I had paint (splatter and hand prints) on my hose for a few weeks until it wore off. These three things are minor and would not prevent me from using or recommending 21st Century in the future.

I was really pleased with the initial consultation. It went well and was professionally handled. I received an estimated quote a few days after the consultation and responded to the email with a question which was answered in a timely manner. In reviewing the estimate more closely, there appeared to be a discrepancy between what was discussed and what was written. I emailed these clarifications back to the representative and didn't hear anything. I finally received a response almost four weeks later, but by this time I had found another contractor and decided to utilize their services.

That was fine. I would recommend them to anyone.

The work that we needed done was going to be too much for our budget. We ended up getting a credit for the Big Deal. The company was great to work with and they came quickly to give the estimate. The customer service was very good. They were nice to work with and they did try to work with us on the price but it was still out of our budget.

It was a very good experience. The job took awhile because of weather. We were getting a lot of rain, but their clean-up was very good.

Gary and Kip are terrific. They have very high standards and can be counted on to always do the right thing. There was a lot of repair work needed on our home before it could be primed and painted and they saw it all through to perfection. We have used them several times over the past 2 years and We're about to hire them again for another of our properties. We wholeheartedly recommend them to our fellow Angie's List members.

Two painters arrived exactly when scheduled. They were friendly, efficient, and did an excellent job of cleaning up the previous wall painting job that left smudges and smears on the trim. Oscar was especially talented - without tape, perfectly straight lines. Very happy with the resulting clean, crisp looking trim.

It's hard to get them scheduled, but everything else I liked. Their work turned out great.

I paid for 8 hours of painting and I supplied the paint. He did what I wanted painted in 7 hours. Since I had time left, I wanted him to do some more painting. However, he said that because I didn’t tell him up front about the additional painting, he wouldn’t be able to do it.

Dan was excellent. Very punctual, conscientious and courteous. He quoted and performed only work that was truly necessary. Would use them again in a heart beat.

The work conducted was great. We were highly satisfied with the siding and roof repairs. Unfortunately, the responsiveness from the representative we worked with was difficult. He would not return calls or emails after we agreed to have the work done. Because of this the work was done later than we wanted and delayed when we could put our house on the market.

This is the second time that we have hired 21st century painting & roofing & the second time that Gary & his crew's expertise have saved the day. What started out as a straight forward project, prepare the house for new gutters, replace a leaky sunroom roof and get rid of the ugly water damaged sunroom siding quickly became a nightmare when the prior roof was remover revealing a do it your self contraption on top of a flat roof that was deteriorating. I can't describe what was found accurately- but I can say that it was not what anyone could have ever guessed. Here is where Gary & his team shined the brightest- instead of running for the hills or realizing that they could have taken us to the bank, they engineered a plan- fixed it all, added insulation and did so at an extremely fair price. The end job is beautiful- I can not thank them enough! If you want an honest, hard working crew then these are the people for your job. Thank you again Gary & all of you at 21st Century- you saved the day for us again!!!!

Well we were impressed with the first interaction however it has been very dissapointing with the lack of response from this company.

Gave them my phone number and they told me they would contact me and they did not. Tried contacting and no response today.

I contacted 21st Century Painting and Roofing as my front porch railings were in severe need of repainting. The paint was peeling due to a very poor DIY job. I contacted 2-3 companies and here on Angies list, all A rated, and 21st Century was the only one that contacted me. They replied quickly, came out the house and looked at the job, bid it, and their bid was quite reasonable so I hired them to do the work. We scheduled a date and time and they came on that day, got to work and did a fantastic job. The end result looks fantastic and the end price matched the bid to the penny. Highly recommend!
