The order was predicted to be ready for installation in about 4 week, and sure enough it arrived in about three weeks when they called to schedule the work. We chose a week day when we could be home to supervise the work, which was one day shy of 4 weeks from the date we signed. The installer called that morning as promised and advised he was loaded and should be here in 30 to 40 minutes and was right on time. Ray (Rayco and his partner Tim) arrived as promised, explained the process from beginning to end, and told us anywhere along the if we had any questions to just ask, I was wondering how much broken glass would be left and he explained that since the windows they were removing were thermopane, that they would heat up the glass and try to remove intact, so with any luck there wouldn't be any. They would place canvas drop cloths along the floor and try to catch as much debris as they could and vacuum up they were done, but there would be dust so we should expect that. The install began and proceeded as described without hitch for the most part. One window did not seem square and when we measured and leveled found the opening was not square to begin with--as builders put in windows first and them build the trim around it so if something is off you would not notice it anyway, They agreed to reinstall that one using spacers to compensate for the builder defect so as ti make it look right. One challenge they had was a three window combo, two side by side with an arch spanning both over the dining room. The challenge was due to the shutters and shutter type which had center hinges smack dab in the middle of the window, For that they decided to call another team for help as they decided the best way was to assemble all three pieces first, and then install the assembly, meaning it would be heavier than they could handle alone. That was smart and worked perfect. The install in total took about 11 hours, and they were willing to work through rather than to return in the AM which I appreciated. They caulked and cleaned up as promised and frankly the amount of dust was kept to a minimum as we shut off all indoor fans, We have already decided to finish the rest of the windows next year as the price was just too good to believe, That would maximize our Energy Saver tax credit as well as limit our out of pocket expense just before Christmas,
Description of Work: I needed to replace two thermopane windows that had cracked glass. Having checked around and received five estimates, I was quite bewildered with the replacement costs ranging from $500 to $900 each until we ran accros these guys in an internet add. My wife and I were very skrptical at first with their $189 window replacement adds, but decided to get an estimate anyway. The salesman was very patient and professional, something I didn't expect from the low cost provider. The window quality was much better than the competitors were offering--double hung, triple coated, argon filled, 1/2 inch spacing between the panes, screens, double locks and included lifetime transferable product and labor warranty. The pricing initially seemed a little complicated, but was provided in its entirety and in a line item method. It included a window removal fee, installation fee and a single (for whole job) $100 set up fee meaning the final per window charge was about $385 per window, some more and some less. The size of the window did not seem to matter, just the variation of window type. We also had concerns since ALL the windows had shutters installed and very definitely did not want to have to have them removed and reinstalled. We were assured they would not have to remove them and would work around them as most of the work was done from the outside anyway. We researched not only their price, but equivalent windows and were absolutely floored. We also noted very a limited number of reviews and some included negative comments. Some appeared to be from customers with unrealistic expectations, so when we called the salesman to return for a final measurement and possibly to expand the order, we confronted him with our findings. These guys are the biggest replacement group out there and he had lots of referrals available. The only drawback I noted was that they were not BBB members, although many of the other franchise areas were. The did have one complaint was was closed and resolved. Since the windows were E-rated and triple film coated there is a slight tint that meant they wouldn't match the other windows facing the same side. I have to admit we took a big leap of faith and decided to order 14, replacing more than half the windows in the house. This included a variety of window types including double hung, bedroom sliders and arch windows, replacing the cheap bulder grade aluminum windows that always had a draft. We were requested to place 50% down, which seemed to be fairly customary. Now all we had to do was go through 4 weeks of second guessing ourselves, questioning our sanity.

They were not punctual, did not show up when they were supposed to. I had to call them several times and keep making appointments. They finally got the front door and french doors in after staying until 10 pm. I kept calling to get the work completed and nobody ever showed up. The doors did not hang right and I had to call two other different companies to call and fix them, but the problem is still not fixed.
Description of Work: I bought and had them install a storm door, a wooden front door and have french doors put in.

This is the worst company I have ever dealt with in my life. The office staff is rude, unprofessional and out right lie. It took months to resolve my issues with them (through my credit card company). Don't do it!!
Description of Work: Ordered front door from them. After being delivered 3 weeks after the promised date, the door knob was on the wrong side and the hardware was wrong. Called office to cancel order completely and no one would return my calls. They re-ordered the door anyway and charged my credit card. ($700.00)

WENT THROUGH OFFICE ON LOVER'S LANE. CHUCK WAS OUR REP. HE NEVER CALLED US, WE CONSTANTLY HAD TO CALL ON THE STATUS OF THE WINDOWS. IT WAS EVEN WORSE WHEN WE HAD TO ORDER THE REPLACEMENT WINDOWS. WHEN THE ORDER FINALLY CAME IN, THE REPLACEMENT WINDOWS WERE THE WRONG SIZE, EVEN THOUGH THE MEASUREMENTS HAD SUPPOSEDLY BEEN TAKEN FROM THE ORIGINAL ORDER. NUMEROUS TIMES WE ATTEMPTED TO GET IN CONTACT WITH MANAGEMENT AT THE ARLINGTON OFFICE TO COMPLAIN. NOBODY EVER RETURNED OUR CALLS EXCEPT FOR LEAH, WHO SEEMED SYMPATHETIC TO OUR PROBLEM. SHE AGREED TO TRY TO WORK OUT SOMETHING WHERE WE DIDN'T HAVE TO PAY THE REMAINING $300 ON OUR BILL DUE TO ALL OF THE PROBLEMS. HOWEVER, ONCE THE REPLACEMENT WINDOWS WERE INSTALLED WE GOT A NASTY PHONE CALL FROM ANOTHER PERSON AT WINDOOR WORLD SAYING THAT SINCE IT WASN'T THEIR FAULT, WE HAD TO PAY UP. THEN MY HUSBAND FOUND A $600 CHARGE FROM WINDOOR WORLD ON HIS CREDIT CARD A FEW DAYS LATER.
Description of Work: HAD SIX WINDOWS AND FRENCH DOORS INSTALLED IN MAY. DUE TO A REQUEST FROM HOUSING COOPERATIVE, ORDERED ANOTHER SET OF FOUR REPLACEMENT WINDOWS FOR FRONT AREA OF HOUSE IN MAY. FINALLY GOT REPLACEMENT WINDOWS INSTALLED IN SEPTEMBER.

CUSTOM DOOR ORDERED 11/04, INSTALLATION SCHEDULED 3/05. WHEN THE INSTALLER ARRIVED, THE HARDWARE HOLES HAD BEEN CUT IN THE WRONG PLACE, THE MAILSLOT HAD NOT BEEN CUT AND THE TRIM DID NOT MATCH. ARRIVED ABOUT 1 HOUR LATE. AFTER MUCH HAGGLING A NEW DOOR WAS ORDERED WHICH CAME IN 2 WEEKS INSTEAD OF THE OVER 3 MONTHS THE FIRST TIME. WE WERE TOLD THAT SINCE OUR HARDWARE WAS CUSTOM, THERE WOULD BE AN ADDITIONAL $400 CHARGE. THROUGHOUT THE ORDEAL, WE HAD TROUBLE TALKING TO A PERSON AND WERE FORCED TO LEAVE VOICEMAILS WHICH WERE RETURNED IN 2-8 DAYS TIME. THE SECOND INSTALLER ARRIVED 3 HOURS EARLY WITHOUT A CALL IN ADVANCE (WE WERE AT WORK AND OUR TEENAGE SONS CALLED US). WE ENDED UP PAYING $70 OVER THE CONTRACT NOT THE THREATENED $400. ABOUT 2 WEEKS LATER THE DOOR KNOB BROKE BECAUSE AN INTERNAL PART WAS INSTALLED INCORRECTLY...FIXED BY A HANDYMAN.

THEY WERE 5 HOURS LATE IN ARRIVING AND DID A LOT OF DAMAGE TO MY HOUSE AND TO THE DOOR DURING INSTALLATION THAT IS STILL NOT FIXED. THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE DEPT. ALONG WITH THEIR INSTALLERS ARE A JOKE. IT WAS THE WORST EXPERIENCE WITH A SO CALLED HOME IMPROVEMENT COMPANY I HAVE EVER HAD. I WOULD HIGHLY CAUTION ANYONE WHO IS CONSIDERING USING THEM, ESPECIALLY IF YOU HAVE TO DEAL WITH THE CUSTOMER SERVICE DEPT. MY DOOR WAS INSTALLED OVER A MONTH AGO AND I AM STILL WAITING FOR THE DAMAGE TO BE REPAIRED.
