Tubs and Counters

First, I need to preface this review by saying that I should have followed up with Angie's List and Tubs and Counters when I first saw the problem within 3 months of the refinish. I had family members with health issues that needed my help these last few years and this got put on the backburner. My complaint is that the refinish began peeling up within 3 months. I followed the instructions the worker gave me about letting the tub sit and cure for the recommended time. I let it sit two days longer just to be sure. It began with the suction cups on the back of the bath mat pulling the refinish material up. I haven't used abrasive cleansers on it. It also scratches easily. I had a plumber out who looked at it and he said it looked like it needed a final coat of refinishing. The surface has been slightly rough since the surface was performed and seems to grab soap scum when used. This was not the quality of service I was anticipating. I read Tubs and Counters reviews before I purchased this deal and they were favorable. Unfortunately, my experience was not.

The vendor said that there was a confusion with the deal and he is not honoring the deal as it is written on the voucher and asked us to request a refund. He provided an estimate for a different service and we went ahead and had the vendor perform the service as the estimate was reasonable.

The provider was on time and did the job in a very acceptable time frame. The finished tub looked great and we were very pleased.

The service did not go well. They were very hard to get a hold of and never responded to my calls. I ended up having to have the deal refunded. They were very unprofessional the one time I did speak with them.

They were great to work with. They were good about working with my husbands schedule. The tub looked awesome. They did such a good job. I would use them again. They did exactly what we wanted and they arrived on time. They cleaned up after themselves and I could not believe that they were able to make an old bathtub look brand new. The guy I spoke with over the phone was very accomodating and he was able to work us in before my son came for the holidays.

I'm pretty sure I called in January and left a message for them to call me. No response. By April 10, 2014, I just wanted my money back and called the provider and left a message. They never called me back. Finally, on April 14, 2014, I got through to the provider and they said I had to go through Angie's List to get a refund.

Since then I have called several times, sent messages through Angie's list message board, and emails to the company with a CC to Angie's list.

Tried calling and emailing them several times and have not been able to schedule the work before the deal is set to expire.

Purchased on Nov 21, 2013. Requested service for three dates in December. Had one email from them but I was unavailable at that time. Tried calling last week to try and set up another date. Provider was busy and said he would call back. Waited a week and no response. Contacted customer service to see if they could help. Received email back saying they were given my information and would contact me. Still have not heard anything.

I would like to provide a better overall grade but the service was outsourced to sub contractors that spoiled the entire experience. If you are to use this company make sure that the owner performs the work. He was a man of his word and thankfully made sure that in the long run we received the finished product that we had paid for.

He did a fantastic job on the tub, however, he was not too good at keeping up with his appointments. We were scheduled for 9:00 am but he didn't arrive until about 11:30 - - after I called and left messages. He seemed to have forgotten he had made an appointment. But the job he did was worth the wait, and he cleaned up very well after he finished, was very polite, and communicated before hand everything to be expected.

I called him every single day and emailed him to perform the Big Deal. They never returned any calls or emails. Set up four different appointments and no show. Nothing. He was nice on the phone just did not follow through.

It cost me $45.00 extra because it had paint on it. They were suppose to run a hose out the window due to fumes. He didn't. It was raining and cold. I had to open doors to try to get smell out. That took 3 days. When he was finished you can see the groves where he sanded it and can still see where it was a different color underneath. The tub is ruff and has little tit points where he didn't do final finish. The owner was suppose to come out and inspect it. He never showed up. They don't stand behind their word and do what they were suppose to. It doesn't look like a new tub like they said it would. I would NEVER use them again.

.Angie's List email deal that was 100.00 for tub refinishing. I bought it and contacted the provider. he said he was booked up till Xmas. So i said January would be fine. That was the last I've heard of him. His reviews before the deal were great but I noticed since the deal he has all F's and no show reviews. I guess the volume of deal takers were too much.

Purchased the deal in October 2013 and let the provider know via Angie's List message right away that due to an upcoming bath remodel, we would not be redeeming right away. He replied to let him know when we were ready. Remodel was not finished until week before Christmas. Contacted provider in early January via Angie's List message to set up appointment and asked if Saturdays ok. He responded on January 18th that we could schedule it for the following Saturday. I replied on January 20th with a time. No response or call as of Saturday, January 25th. Left him a phone message on that same morning shortly after the time I'd suggested asking if he was coming or if we needed to reschedule. No response. Sent another Angie's List message. It's been another full week as of today, and no response. Attempted to call today but got his answering machine again. Left message but at this point want to cancel the purchase due to provider's unresponsiveness.

The contractor completed one of the tubs and did a good job. He said that he could not complete both the same day and would come back January 22nd to do the 2nd tub. He never made the appt. and has not return calls to reschedule and complete the job.

I purchased the "big deal" in mid-December. Upon first contact, I explained to the provider that I needed them to perform the job as soon as possible because I had a property inspection coming up very soon. The provider said they would accommodate. 1 week passed, 2 weeks passed... No word back from them. I reached out again to give the benefit of a doubt and reschedule. And again, no one came out. As of the 3rd week in January, I still didn't have refinished tubs. Eventually, I had to ask for my money back so I could find someone more responsive to get the job done.

Purchased an Angie's deal for tub resurface. At first they seemed ok, scheduled my appt right away. Then they had to cancel b/c of bad weather, understandable. But then they missed the re-schedueled appt. I had to call and they said, oh no one is there? He said that he accidentally wrote down the wrong date and rescheduled again. This last time he never showed AND never returned my numerous phone calls, emails or texts. Luckily it was purchased through Angie's list who was great and promptly refunded my money!

Punctuality and scheduling are BIG problems. If you use this provider, take the initiative to call a day or two before your appointment just to touch base and remind them. | |It took several messages and phone calls before the workman finally came out Nov 1. Be aware that the product they use has highly toxic fumes and you will need to open all your windows, put pets and people outside until it dissipates. We used a HEPA air filter with charcoal to help remove the odor. | |The first guy taped around the overflow drain and did not prep it well. Within a month, there was paint chipping off with rust underneath. I initiated contact with Raphael. He was very concerned that the prep work was not done right and wanted to fix it himself. | |It took several times to reschedule. Because of prior experience, I decided to call and remind him of my 1pm appointment. The morning of, I phoned him to touch base and ensure that we were still on. After a few minutes, it was obvious that I had slipped through the cracks of his schedule again. However, he offered to come out a little later at 3pm. At 3:15pm, he phoned and asked if we could schedule on another day. | |I was pretty upset at that. I insisted that it be fixed that day as I was tired of arranging to take off work or moving my schedule around to accommodate. I didn't need the whole tub re-done - just the overflow. I had loosened the screws to make it easier for him. | |Since he was close to my area, he agreed to come over. It took 30 minutes to grind/prep and Raphael did a good job. | |I just wish that they would use some kind of tool (Outlook, Google) to help them with their scheduling. It's frustrating for the customer to initiate the contact and remind the provider that they have an appointment.

I Never got a reply. Provider must be too busy. I still believe he does good work, but the house is on the market now so I don't want to have more work done while it is being shown. At this point, we put up a shower curtain and done.

The work was fine when they finally showed up. The finish on the bathtub was left rough though. They couldn’t do the work on the three times I chose through the concierge service of Angie's List so they picked the day/time. I got stood up the first time we scheduled, the date scheduled by them, and they didn’t even call to say anything. I would not recommend them. If your time is worth anything don’t count on them.

Bought the service through Angie's List, contacted the contractor, set up a date and cleared our schedule for that date. On appointed date, the contractor had not called or shown up to do the job. I called the contractor, but only got voice mail, so I left a message. The call was not returned, so I called a couple of days later, left another message, and was finally contacted. Another day was set up, but the contractor did not show up again at the appointed time. I called him and cancelled the job.

We did have some scheduling issues. But, he did make time do the sink as an additional item for a reasonable price. We still have some rest showing through on the sink that was not there immediately after the job was finished. However, we still haven't contacted him about this.

It looks awesome!! It takes several hours to apply all the coats of enamel, but it is worth it. My bathtub looks brand new. The difference is amazing. I would definitely use Tubs and Counters again.

I had the service scheduled for Dec 9th and we had an ice storm in our area so we rescheduled it via email for the 17th it was still cold so we rescheduled again for Jan 6th at 1pm. On this date; no one showed up, no one called, nothing. I called him again and he didn't apologize or even act like who knew who I was; I thought he was very arrogant. He never explained why he didn't come or call us; when I pushed for a reason he said he was shorthanded. I understood that and then rescheduled for 9 am the 16th. That was yesterday and he didn't show up and didn't call at all. I am not very pleased with him at all; I don't like his attitude. If he had admitted he was too busy and asked to do it later in the month I would have even accommodated that but at this point I just don't want to work with him.
