The two painters did a fine job. They started by covering the floors, furniture and walls with plastic to protect them in case there were paint drips or spatters. They edged and then put two coats of paint on the ceilings. Then, the painters cleaned up all the plastic and put back the furniture that had been moved. As I said, they did a fine job. A day or so later, a lady from Sun Painting called to check to see if I was satisfied with their work. The company told me that I could use their discount at Kelly-Moore paints which I did and which seemed to save about $50 on a 5-gallon bucket of white paint.
Description of Work: The job was to paint the high ceilings in the entry foyer, living room, dining room and master bedroom.

Replaced a 4 ft by 8 ft panel that fell out of the ceiling in the garage due to poor installation at build time. They were waiting for a few minutes before the appointment time, had everything they needed except the dry wall (of course), and had to go get it but didn't charge for the trip to Home Depot. The helper stayed and prepped the area while the team lead went to get the drywall. I was impressed. Kept the area dust free and paint free, textured the paint after the paint had of a chance to dry a bit, and generally did a very good job. The form they sent by e-mail looked as though it would work for timekeeping, but the lead crewman was a bit uncertain about how to calculate the time. We agreed on how much time they spent over the value of the coupon, and they were gone by noon. I'm very satisfied with the work, and will use this company when I have further work to be done.

They were able to offer same-day quotes, very friendly and was able to provide a copy of his licensed insurance. He also offered a 20% Angies List discount on this service. We have not used him yet, but do plan on it in the future.

Overall. I'm pleased. But I asked them to remove the mirror to texture walls behind the mirror, and they wouldn't do that. The work they performed was good though.
Description of Work: I bought the Angie's List deal for $199 for wallpaper removal in my master bathroom. They weren't able to complete the job in the 2-man/4-hour limit. So, I paid an additional $350 to complete the wallpaper removal and texture the walls. I thought this was a reasonable price for the service performed.

They came to perform plaster repair and paint where I had damaged walls. They were prompt, extremely courteous, professional, neat as a pin, efficient and the finished product is perfect. They did not exceed the estimate either. I have asked them to come back to give me estimates on several other projects in my house.

The guys got there about five minutes before our appointed time. They were gracious enough to go ahead and meet my dogs (who then considered them as friends and quit barking like they were and quot;strangersand quot;). They immediately went to work, very quietly except for when my kitten went in there to play. I did hear the laughter from the other room and went and rescued them (them, not the cat). The work was fabulous, the men professional and overall it was an experience I hope to repeat soon.
Description of Work: I bought an Angie's List Big Deal, 8 hours of painting services for $199. The two man crew painted every inch of a bedroom with the paint I supplied, ceiling, trim baseboards and walls.

At first i was extremely impressed with Mark (the owner). He came to my house to give me an estimate to paint my master closet once a closet company came to rip out the old closet. At the time of the estimate, we didn't know how much damage there would be to the walls because the closet had not been ripped out at this point. Mark was so professional and i was so impressed with him, i couldn't wait for him to do the job a few weeks later and for him to do more painting jobs in the future. His men were supposed to arrive around 12:00 pm on Friday after the old closet was ripped out in the morning. The closet people were coming to build a new closet Monday morning. Sun Painting was very professional and I received a call from them about 11:30am to let me know that the guys would be at my house around 1-1:30 because they were on another job for the morning. She said the job that they were on, the homeowner kept asking for more work that was not the work order. That was perfectly fine with me. An hour or so was no big deal. Need less to say, they still weren't here at 4:30 and didn't show up until the next morning. Mark said they could come from 7-9pm, but we said no that it wouldn't work for us. The guy's showed up the next morning, Saturday at 8am. At this point, i'm irritated, but still alright, for the most part. As long as the guys were finished by Monday morning... They finished up late afternoon. i went to check their work and at first glance, it looked good. After letting them out, I went back to the bathroom to shower and noticed the floors, counter tops, everything on the counter tops, drawers, cabinets, walls, tub and surrounding area, toilet area, basically EVERYTHING was covered with a thick layer of dust. I guess the painters had to spray the texture on the walls in the closet and they did not lay down drop clothes in the adjoining bathroom to protect everything. I did not even think to tell them this as they ARE the painters and should have known this! We had to have our housekeeper come clean everything for an extra $100! Now this job cost $800. To top everything off, the painters scratched 4 separate walls in the bathroom with their equipment (not part of the closet) and I now have to go to a paint store and get the correct color to fix it! Mark is a very nice guy, but his painters are far from professional. I do not recommend them.

Response from Sun Painting Texas LLC
The job involved repairing the walls in an enclosed 10x10 closet after another company demolished the existing shelves and cabinet unit. When we arrived Saturday morning, there was a thick layer of dust on the countertops in the master bath and on the carpet in the master bedroom. Dario specifically remembered setting a roll of tape down on the counter and noticing the imprint it left when he picked it up. He masked everything as usual, plastic runners at the front door and in the home, plastic sealing the door where he was working, etc. We didn't mask the bathroom because our work area was completely sealed. We used a plastic runner on the bathroom floor and bed carpet to walk into and out of the closet. Dario doesn't remember scratching the walls in the bathroom and that really doesn't make any sense based on what we were doing. It would make more sense that the demo crew carrying out lengths of shelving and trash. Don't know if he did, but that makes more sense. I would say that the homeowner has no way of knowing whether the shelf guy or the painter caused the mess. Dario walked the job with her when he was done and she said she was happy and signed off on our release. She did not know about the dust and damage Saturday morning so she certainly wouldn't know about it Friday morning when it occurred. Now there's one other point. The husband called me later (I think the next week, but that was a whole ago and I'm not sure) to tell me about the dust. I asked to come out and clean up (even though the mess ended up being someone else's) but he told me he had already had the cleaning lady fix it. I offered to reimburse him but he said that he was just letting me know so I could address this with the guys. I thanked him and he was gracious and even went so far as to assure me that he wasn't going to do anything like post a review on Angie's list--oh well. I'm sure that when the guys came back to install the new shelving, it was pretty easy to direct the blame from their demo crew to another company and now I'm stuck with this review! For all Angie's members, don't sign our release or give us the final payment until you are completely happy with our work!!! This is is for your benefit.

I purchased an Angie's List coupon for $75 for 3 hours of drywall work from Sun Painting. When I viewed my home before purchasing it, the garage was full and walls hidden. When I moved in I discovered six unsightly holes in the garage drywall. So it has been on my list of things to fix in my house and when I saw this coupon I jumped at it. I also had some loose tape on the ceiling drywall that needed replacing. I was unable to use the coupon right away due to my work schedule. I had to cancel an appointment because it conflicted with meetings, so I just waited to reschedule the work. It was five months later when I set the appointment for the repairs and there was no problem in Sun Painting honoring the coupon. I moved the garage contents to one side before the workmen arrived. I received a call from the office confirming our appointment. The two men from Sun Painting arrived on time and had previously called to confirm their status and arrival time. I showed them the holes I wanted repaired and asked that they also re-tape the drywall on the ceiling. They showed me their current rate sheet ($30 per hour, per workman) and said the work would likely go over the initial $75 already paid. I approved the work hours in advance (I had moved all that garage stuff). The work was very goodand mdash;they retaped all of the ceiling they could reach without moving everything I had moved to one side. All holes were neatly repaired. I could not be more pleased with the work. They cleaned up after themselves. I paid an additional $70, which was less than I estimated myself.

Mark came the same day I called to give an estimate. He was very thorough and knowledgeable and offered his opinion about some work I was thinking about doing, which ultimately saved me money. The office staff helped me out a lot, answering quesitons and preparing paperwork. Jose and his staff were on time, very professional in appearance and started working immediately. They were extremely clean, at the end of the first day we were still able to use parts of the house. They finished the second day and when they left, everything was very clean and put back together. The work was impeccable. They had to do more than the estimate to repair the hole in my ceiling, but the office called to confirm as soon as they knew. You would never know there had been a hole there now. They fixed everything from the big stuff, to the small things like the stress cracks and regluing my backsplash to the wall in the kitchen. I was very impressed with the work and would definitely recommend them to anyone.

After Purchase, I call the company using 2 different numbers they gave. 1 for the owner and then 1 for is wife it looks like. I called each of them (both numbers) and left messages 3 days in a row with no return calls or replies. I finally called today (Saturday) and caught them on a cell phone, let them know who I was, that I had been calling for 3 days and that I was following up from my purchases and that I had some extra work I wanted to talk to them about too. The attitude was I'm not in the office and I felt like I was bothering her, when they had not called me back and I was having to chase them down. Then she said that the response was so great that the first time they could look at scheduling anything would be the end of February because so many people bought the deal. That great, but my problem is I can't wait 5-6 weeks on my projects to just set there. The reason for the F is the no call backs, that attitude and also if you are going to run a big deal and take everyone's money up front, you should be able to handle the work in a timely manner. Don't run the deal if you don't have the operations figured out on how you are going to take care of the customer. I did get a refund from Angie's list. My input to them was if they are going to let people run a Big Deal they should make sure they can handle the business.

I purchased the $99 for up to 3 Man Hours of Drywall/Plaster Repair from Angie's Big Deal. It took me 3 different phone calls to Brandon the Sales Manager to book my appointment. On the first 2 calls, he was not in a position to book the appointment and he was to call back which he never did. On the 3rd call, I was fortunate enough to get the job scheduled. I asked him to furnish the materials (at my expense) which he said that they would. On the day of the project, Darrio, the Crew Chief arrived with a helper (who couldn't speak English) but they had no materials with them to start the job. Instead, they spent 1 and a half hours to give me a diagnosis of my situation including an attic inspection which led to the needed replacement of the wooden cross-beam. Of course, since they had 2 men present, I was charged for 3 hours of time which was the Angie's Big Deal and not a bit of labor was performed! Darrio then gave me a bid of $400.00 to have the sheetrock and cross-beam replaced (2 men @ $100.00 Hr.) for 4 hours. I approved the bid since the job needed to be done. We scheduled the job for a later date and was informed that they would pick up the materials (at my expense) at Home Depot before they came to the house to perform the job. I was also informed that the hourly rate would start as soon as they entered the store to purchase the supplies. This took up 1 hour of their time. In other words, I spent $100.00 in labor costs for them to pick up the job supplies. I still can't understand why a Company that does this kind of work doesn't have the needed materials on hand in order to eliminate this problem for the customer. My time window for the day of the job was for 9-9:30 AM but they didn't arrive until 11:30 AM because they were running late doing a prior job. They did call to inform me of the delay. Overall, including the time picking up the materials, the project took a little over 5 hours. I only paid the $400.00 estimate since that was the bid from Darrio. Upon completion, I asked for my senior citizen discount which was advertised on Angie's web-site but no one knew anything about such a reduction. I paid for the job and told Darrio that I would take up the issue with Ann, the Company Receptionist. Before leaving, I was not given a copy of the invoice or the receipt for the supplies that was purchased that morning. This was my fault, for I over-looked asking them for the paperwork. Later on, with my discussions with Ann, I was told that my discount was strictly what was advertised with Angie's only and did not include an additional one for seniors. I accepted their explanation but feel that after advertising their Senior Discount they should have (Not valid with other discounts) noted. In closing, I can only make these suggestions to those that plan to do business with Sun Painting Texas in the future: 1. Buy your own materials. You will come out ahead by doing so. 2. Question on whether you need 2 men for the project. ( 1-man = $50 Hr. 2-men = $100 Hr.) With my experience, the 2nd man was just a gopher and did very little of the actual work. To me, this is a waste of money. 3. Do send in a report to Angie's so others will know of your experience. I am not down-grading Sun Painting Texas for they are an and quot;Aand quot; rating company with Angie's and do have a lot of favorable reviews. I just feel like in my case, I was charged for several hours for work not performed and will not be using them again in the future.

There are a few issues here. First and foremost, this customer purchased a three hour coupon which clearly states that we will supply all materials related to texture but not Sheetrock. This is intended to be used for texture repairs, not framing and Sheetrock replacement. The two painters had to remove insulation and Sheetrock to determine what the issue was. With the set up and the clean up, the job took a little over three hours. I pay the guys an hours pay for an hours work. This customer might prefer that the guys not get paid, but I think there's an ammenent to the constitution passed during the civil war which prohibits that--thank god. There was a problem with the framing in the attic which needed to be corrected before we could install the Sheetrock. (otherwise the job would fail pretty quickly). We had to get a nail gun, framing materials, insulation, and Sheetrock to fix the framing and proceed. We did not have the gun available then so had to reschedule. The next issue is that of cost. We estimated the time to complete the job and gave the customer a firm, fixed price. He agreed to this and we completed the job to his satisfaction. Then, after we agreed to the price, finished the job, and got paid, he called Ann and asked for a refund representing his senior citizen discount. We figured out the Angie's discount on the coupon and the substantial amount we discounted the fixed price bid, and it was within pennies of what we discount senior citizen jobs. Ann attempted to relay this to him but appearantly didn't do such a good job. The final issue is our scheduling. Our sales manager is no longer with the company. We have dropped the ball on scheduling appointments and I assume full responsibility for this. My office is now handling all scheduling and I'm really proud of the job we are doing now. You can call the office before 1 at 817-275-6690 or the scheduling hotline until 5 at 682-220-4975. And of course my cell any time 817-929-1088

We received an email from Angie's list for 3 man hours of drywall repair for $99.00. The email had a link that we clicked and paid. The receipt gave instructions on how to book the appointment. We had multiple months to get it booked. We waited through the holidays, then had them come out. They confirmed the appointment the day before, then showed up on time. One guy worked on the cracks around the window. And the other one worked on the ceiling. When the first completed his task, he helped the other. They were here slightly over and hour and a half. They were nice. And the work was good.
Description of Work: The two guys from Sun Painting repaired two areas of sheetrock for us. First they replaced about a 2' by 2' patch in the ceiling of our bathroom, including the taping and bedding. Second they fixed two big wall cracks that had sprouted from a front window.

It was a holiday weekend so my calls were just to let him know i was done with my part . Ann called me and said they were ready to go . They matched my paint sample with another companies paint . Yes the guys were a but late but my business is on my property so no big deal . The first day they pressure washed the house . Next day they caulked , better then i could or would have done . Yes i did have to pick up some trash they left behind but you know what it was late and those two guys busted their butts to make our home look awesome !!
Description of Work: My home was built in the late 1970s ie alot of " lapp siding " . I saw Sunpaintings add on Angies so i called & talked with Ann we made an apt. for the next day . When Mark arrived the next day he spent alot of time with me explaining what his guys would do to get it done right . We purchased the 3 hours of drywall repair for $99. We had 2 men show up at the appointed time. One was a painter and the other one was a helper and did not do any of the repair work. They spent about 20 minutes cleaning tools and unloading the truck. This was part of the time that they were supposed to be doing drywall repair. They then did 4 of the areas that needed drywall repair and left after 1 and half hours, this included the time they spent cleaning tools. Since the other man did not do any repair work, we got only one and a half hours of work done, not the three hours we paid for. When we called the company to express our dissatisfaction, they did not offer any solutions. We will not use them again.
Description of Work: We purchased the three hours of drywall repair for $99. We had 4 small areas of drywall repaired and got only one and half hours of work done. The work they did was acceptable but we had paid for 3 hours of work, not for one and a half hours. They sent 2 men but only one did the repair work. The other one was a helper who did not do any repair. I gave them a C and not a D because the work they did was acceptable. But they cut the time in half because one of the guys they sent never did any drywall repair.

Both employees who worked for this customer were painters. Each had their designated jobs. One was masking off all areas, prepping the walls, moving furniture, etc. The other, our foreman Dario, did the actual mud work on the wall. This is the most efficient use of man power. I can see where the homeowner might think that one employee was only a helper because he didn't do any of the mud work, but the prep work had to get done. A surgeon has to scrub before surgery. You might walk in while he's washing his hands and think that he was a cleaning man--why should you pay a surgeon rates to a menial laborer. But the reality is, this task has to get done and yes, you are going to pay surgeon rates to wash hands. Same idea here I have spoken with this customer. He expected that the three hours would be hours worked on the walls--no set up or clean up, no masking, no set up of the machine, etc. We were actually in his home working for 3 hours and 30 minutes (per the time sheet he signed). We walked the job with him for 20 minutes to understand the scope (foreman walking job, painter was waiting. I paid both for this time) before we actually started the clock. We stopped the time when we were done inside and didn't charge him for clean-up. So the reality is that he got 40 minutes of time while he showed us the scope, 30 minutes of time which we didn't bill for, and, while we did clean up our tools at the outset as he was our second customer of the day and our tools were dirty from the first job, we offset this by not charging him for the clean up of the tools after we finished his job. We were fair, gave him more that he paid for, and did a great job. I can't do better than that

The phone contact is excellent, the work crew is excellent and the work is very, very good. This company provided the exact service I needed as they advertised in their coupon.
Description of Work: I am very satisfied with the entire experience with Sun Painting as they repaired a small amount of damaged drywall.

I purchased a coupon for $75.00 for 3 man hours on Angie's list. When I called to schedule, they were booked for weeks out apparently due to the large number of coupon purchases. I book for about a month out. Prior to the job, the company rep came out to review the work, which I appreciated. He said that it would take more than 3 hours, probably 5-6. I was fine with this since I had other cracks in the drywall that needed repair. When the date arrived, it had to be pushed back twice due to jobs running long and labor issues. Two men came to do the work, which took about 6 hours total. The bill seem very reasonable for the work performed. I would use them again at their regular rate.
Description of Work: Repaired hole and several cracks in drywall, spackled and textured areas.

* Update 2/06 After we posted our review, Mark, the owner of Sun Painting, got in touch with us the next day. He spent 45 minutes on the phone with us digging into the details of exactly what happened with our service, and he scheduled a time to bring in a crew to fix anything that wasn't correct. He ended up sending his crew out for a full day and a half to make sure we were happy with the quality of the work. Mark is completely professional and made sure that we were happy customers in the end. I fully trust his professionalism and his ability and willingness to make things right. And he has the best office manager. I had to work that in. * Original review from 12/17 We selected Sun Painting through an Angie's List Big Deal, $450 for 2 painters for 8 hours. We originally contacted the company through email and received no response. We called and got in touch with Brandon, and he made the appointment to perform the work three weeks later on Monday, December 12th, arriving between 9 and 9:30 AM. We called around 10 AM on the 12th to see if they were running late, and Brandon informed us they had lost a painter and would not be able to perform the work that day. He was dealing with another emergency and said he would call me back to arrange another appointment. We had to call him later to get a follow up, and we arranged for the work to be performed that Friday, again arriving between 9 and 9:30 AM. We received a call around 7:30 AM from Brandon begging off from Friday and asking to come instead on Saturday. We agreed again. On Saturday, Brandon called to let us know they would be a little late and they were on the way, just another 10 minutes. When they arrived at 10:15, Brandon walked through the guest apartment with his two painters. It was empty except for a fridge, a stove, and a counter and sink. We discussed what paints were for what surfaces, priorities for the work, etc. The painters did a decent job - there were a few spots on the walls where they had been excess paint applied and there were long drips, even onto the trim. A little painting over surfaces that looked messy and sloppy. You could tell one of the painters was a new replacement. But for the most part they cleaned up after themselves and covered a lot of ground. We walked through to check the work about an hour before the painters were scheduled to leave. We checked back later to discover that when they did leave, they did not contact us nor let us know they were leaving. They just left. Nor did Brandon ever come back to check on the work that had been performed. We still haven't heard back. We absolutely understand that life happens and staffing challenges arise, but it is essential to keep your customer informed when these things happen. We were disappointed by this contractor. We didn't appreciate having to chase down answers and not be informed of delays, especially when we're taking vacation days to be home during the week and staying up late after coming home from night shift to accomodate appointments. It showed no respect for our time and we expected better from a contractor rated so well on Angie's List. The customer service was the main reason we rated this contractor the way we did.

since no one came out for estimate, 2 painters showed up with no idea of what i wanted, they had NO LADDER. Took way longer to finish jobb and in the end had to hire someone else to finish the job. 2 weeks later had someone else to do trim work and he had to re-do what sun painting was supposed to have already have done.... I WOULD NEVER HIRE SUN PAINTING AGAIN
Description of Work: big deal was for 500. 2 painters for a day. no one ever came out for estimate. just talked about it over the phone.

Response from Sun Painting Texas LLC
We did this job 2 months ago. Because of the length of time which has passed and because there weren't any issues at all with the job on file, I really don't don't have a comment on the work (I can't remember this job at all!) The homeowner signed our release stating that they were happy with the quality of the job. No attempt was made on their part to contact Brandon, my office, or me. If they had and even today, we are available to correct any issue they have at no charge. Mark

There was considerable delay before a first visit when the relatively low and quot;secondand quot; skylight was repaired. They didn't have a long enough ladder to work on the other. Sometime later, on October 11, they came and replaced drywall on the higher skylight and did some overpainting where the match wasn't good on a section of a hallway. It wasn't possible to repaint the drywall repair that day so we are finishing the job ourselves (as it had been suggested we could). The workmanship was fine and the staff were pleasant and professional. The only problem was the long delay in getting the work done and the inexplicable lack of a long enough ladder for the high skylight (about which they had been advised) on the first visit. I guess doing the final painting ourselves will save us some money! We would use this contractor again if we don't have a deadline.
Description of Work: Drywall repair on a skylight wall. Stain repair on second skylight wall and caulking of that skylight flashing. Some interior wall painting.

Project started in response to an Angie's "The Big Deal" for drywall repair. When I called the number provided, Park Row Painting showed on my cell phone. Park Row had painted the exterior of my home last year. That was a good experiece. When Brandon came by to set up the repair of the sheetrock, I asked for a bid on interior painting. That bid was somewhat higher than two others, but I chose Sun Painting because of the experience with Park Row and its team. The job started one day late, due to extenuating circumstances, but was completed on schedule. Clean-up and everything else was done professionally. As with any project there were a few hiccups, but all were resolved to my satisfaction. Sun Painting is A+ and they are on the top of my list for future painting tasks.
Description of Work: Repair of two major ceiling problems due to water damage. Removal of wallpaper in kitchen and matching texture to rest of house. Painting of all walls, ceiling, doors and trim in seven rooms. Included repairing of minor cracks, etc. Moving and protecting of furniture.
