Inept, incompetent and inadequate job performed by this company and contract workers. I met with mark brozio, and he indicated that because the brick on my home was very porous, it would require a lot of paint. I wanted to use Resilence instead of Super Paint. I asked him who would order the paint correctly, since it differed from their normal product. He told me that he would take personal responsibility for ordering the paint correctly. I was to receive 2 coats of Loxon and 2 coats of Resilence, and he assured me that the job would have enough paint to adequately cover and protect my home. t Mario arrived an hour late to do the power washing and left the paint in my garage. When I inspected the front door and garage, both had dirt in the corners and surfaces. I decided to look at the paint and it was Super Paint. I called to complain, saying that if the job started out this badly with wrong paint, they could take their paint back and give me back my money. I was informed by Mr. brozio that I was walking off the job and would have to pay $750 for the paint mistake and $150 for the inadequate power wash. Finally, we agreed that he would redo the power wash and provide new painters and get the correct paint. I deeply regret not trusting my instincts and paying him for his mistakes and getting another company to do the job correctly. Enter two contract workers, not employees who have been with the company, get benefits, ect. These men had worked for mr. brozio for 3 months. I will say that at least Mario ordered the correct amount of paint: 4 five gallons of super paint and 4 five gallons of loxon. Mario had taken the loxon back with him and left the superpaint in my garage. The new painters got the superpaint. The 2 contract workers brought one of the nephew as their helper. He was back rolling the loxon. The only problem was that he was not doing this correctly, and I pointed this out to the lead painter. The helper was not getting the mortar between the bricks covered adequately, and I knew this would be a problem. The purpose of the primer is to seal the porous bricks to prevent spalling. What this helper was doing would allow water to seep into the bricks and cause spalling. The lead painter said that he would fix this problem. The painters would come to the job and about 30 minutes in the to the job, they'd have to go get breakfast or go get lunch. One day they left because they didn't have enough paint to complete the work, instead of planning ahead or going to get the paint they needed. Another time they had to leave early to go to a birthday party. Another time they had to go to another job. When I showed the lead painter where he had nicked a gash in the paint, he painted it once with paint. I told him it needed to have 2 coats of loxon and then 2 coats of resilence. He never corrected his mistake. They spray painted directly on the prefinished fiberglass front door. Mr. Brozio came over and I showed him some concerns but he brushed my concerns away. I stupidly paid him in full for the job. After waiting the amount of time the painters said was needed to dry, I closed the door. Upon opening the door again, it stuck and tore off parts of the frame around the door and paint also came off the door. At this point, I called another paint contractor. He informed me that the door should have been primed and when the weather became hot, I would have a sticky melting mess to contend with. He looked at the entry way and informed me that it had ONLY ONE Coat of paint in the entry way. He didn't bother looking elsewhere. He told me not to accept this kind of work. I spoke with Autumn who is a project manager of the company. She came and looked at the door and told me that the painters would redo the door and touch up the side door where they had made a scratch on the surface. She said that they would be at my all day because they would have to hand scrape the front door to remove the mess made by the painters. When the painters arrived, I stayed outside to see exactly what they were doing. Autumn said that she would be available by phone until 1 pm. The painters' version of hand scraping was to take sand paper and sand about 10 minutes. I contested this with the painters and the lead painter said that doing what Autumn said would take too long; they had other work to do that day. They reached Autumn and spoke to her but when I immediately called to clarify this contradiction in approach, she did not pick up the phone. I got upset when I saw one of the painters painting over the debris from sanding the paint. He had sanded and not wiped off the sand dust. I did not want that debris permanently leaving a rough look on the door. The lead painter, in a raised voice, said that nothing that they did would be good enough for me. I told him that I was sorry that he did not have the judgment and assessment skills needed to plan and do an adequate job. They forgot to sand and paint part of the door and were leaving anyway. When they removed the plastic sheeting to protect the house from overspray, there were bald spots where the paint had completely came off in the entryway. Where they had and quot;fixedand quot; the scratch made by themselves previously, the painter managed to paint and not adequately cover the scratch and also get paint on the door handle and lock. The glass side panels where they redid the front door now has paint spatters on them. I contacted mr brozio. I called the sales representative from Sherman Williams to examine the paint job. He took 4 samples . Two were where the paint had completely come off the brick, one from an area about 6 feet off the ground and another from the repair I had asked the painter to do where he had made a gash in the brick. The sales representative told me that some areas he sampled had one coat of paint on the brick and others had 2 coats of paint. He told me the minimum amount of paint needed to do the job and that not enough paint was used to adequately paint my house. Then I met with the sales representative and mr brozio. Mr. brozio said that he would paint the bottom 18 inches of the house. He was talking to the sales representative. I told him that the rest of the house was not adequately painted. He also said that he considered this to be an and quot;excellentand quot; paint job. I was unwilling to accept what mr brozio had decided in light of the obvious pervasive defects and problems created by this paint job. I contacted yet another paint contractor who said that the lack of coverage was obvious and the numerous pockets of holes in the paint where there was no coverage would create spalling (deterioration) in the bricks. He showed me the front of the house which had uneven color coverage and said that the previous painters had used tinted loxon and no paint on top of it. He noticed the paint on the front door glass side panels as well as the front door paint feeling sticky. Mr brozio's remedy was to have the same problematic painters paint the bottom 18 inches of my home, stipulating that I could not talk directly with them and if a conversation occurred, that 2 persons from their company had to be present, and if more paint was needed to complete the job, I would be responsible for purchasing the paint, and that I would not take legal action or make complaints to any other entities. I noticed that he did not include showing me his insurance policy for workmen's compensation like I requested. I asked if he had insurance and if it covered contract workers. So, in conclusion, I wished I had read and followed Angie's List recommendations in hiring a contractor. I was too trusting and will have to spend more money and time correcting this botched job. I need help with uploading all the pictures I have taken to document this job

Sherwin Williams came out to this home and performed numerous tests on the paint job. They found 2 areas where the paint was a little light, behind some low shrubs which were difficult to work around, and at the front porch by the porch surface. When these two areas are addressed the Sherwin Williams company will warranty the paint for the life of the job. That’s about as professional and non biased an opinion as you’re going to get.

Sun Painting Texas LLC did an excellent job with painting. My only constructive criticism is that it took them a long time for me to get them scheduled to come out here. It took a couple of months. It took them a longer time than expected. I used only the big deal purchase. They were very clean. They paid attention to details. They listened to all my requests.

It was pretty good. They came out, did the job and got it done. The paint was peeling a little bit, they hadn't prepped it properly but they have come back and taken care of it. They were okay but I might try somebody else next time. It was a little bit of a bad experience.
Description of Work: I purchased a Big Deal coupon for Sun Painting Texas. They painted the whole house. They had to come back and do some touch up work a few weeks later. I paid an additional amount because there was some more square footage than what was on the deal. There was a little bit of wood damage and I had to have them replace pieces of wood trim around the house.

Did a great job. Extremely professional staff answered call, followed-up, gave good quote, and did the job all within the same week. They were meticulous in making sure not one drop of paint got on the hardwood floors, crown moldings, etc. Had me check all work before they left. Only complaint is a few places around wall mounted lights where only one coat of paint and can see through to old paint. This is 2% though, and the other 98% looks fabulous (I should have spent more time double checking the work when they called me, so I consider this my fault as well, as they would have fixed it, had i noticed it when checking things through, instead of afterwards.) They did such a good job, I plan to use them for a home project in the future.

They did a shoddy job of caulking and did not paint all of our trim. I actually had to get them to do it again. They also left their materials in our side yard. They used our water hose to clean their equipment, which spread latex paint everywhere. They tracked their equipment across a freshly painted swimming pool deck in addition to taking my house numbers off and never putting them back. They also forgot to reconnect my doorbell.

This customers yard was completely torn up In preparation for sod and he had just installed a new pool. It was a muddy mess and any number of tradesmen had worked over and walked on the pool deck, including our guys. We were the only trade who stayed and cleaned the deck (probably because we were the only ones this guy could communicate with. We Were unaware that the address was not reinstalled but would be happy to return to reattach. I will contact this customer tomorrow Mark

Sun Painting Texas LLC did a good job but I'm not sure if I can recommend them. They were two or three days late. They gave me a quote and then it expanded quite a bit. I really want them to do some texturizing they didn't made for me. They were not punctual, the quality of work was okay and they wanted more money than I thought they pay should want.

They did an amazing job. They were great; they spent the whole week in my house repainting the inside and out of our house, stripping and refining. They also painted our fence and they were incredible. They're a little pricey but they're incredible so it's worth it. We are planning next week for an inside painting of our house and we will be calling them back. Every day, they were very efficient. They cleaned up every day after themselves.

We told them we wanted our garage door painted. We asked them what paint they preferred to use and drove 20 miles each way to get it. They painted the door, but did not do any sanding. I had three complaints about the work that was done. Two of them, I can forgive and forget. The third, I cannot. The first is that the person who came to estimate the job had communicated none of the information/job specifics to the people who actually came to do the job. So, rather than showing up with detailed instructions, they showed up knowing nothing, and I had to start from scratch with them. The second is that the person who came to estimate the job dramatically overestimated the amount of paint and stain I would need for the job. I was able to return the extra stain (seven cans!), but I paid for about a gallon and a half of white paint that I didn't need and couldn't return. The third was that in a number of locations the painters didn't bother doing basic taping/papering to ensure that nearby areas did not get paint/stain on them. As a result, they *did* get paint/stain on them. In dozens of places...most dramatically, right in the middle of my cream-colored wall, where two big drops of dark brown stain landed. The painter did his best to clean up the mess with turpentine, which removed the texture and turned two dark brown stains into two light brown stains. This would be easy to paint over if I had the matching paint color, but of course I don't. As for the other areas, I've been doing touch-up on the painter's (completely avoidable) small screw-ups ever since. Not taking the time to protect adjacent areas, and then getting paint and stain on those adjacent areas and not fixing those problems before leaving--really inexcusable.

We bought a total of 16 hours of service in a big deal several months ago. The first scheduled appointment was missed due to the painter having a family emergency; we were told at the time that they would contact us to reschedule. Three weeks later, we had to contact them to reschedule. It's extremely hard to get in touch with the scheduler and even harder to get her to call back. When a second appointment was made, the painters were told that they'd only need to be there for a couple hours, regardless of the amount that we had paid for. We were told at the time that they would send painters out again to finish the job, but have not been able to get anyone in the company to return calls. The work that was done was excellent, and if not for the difficulties in scheduling, we'd have no problem recommending them. Given that it's been three months and we still haven't received our full services, we definitely do not recommend.

Initially there was a problem because the painter was given incorrect instructions. He was told he would be painting doors and he was supposed to paint my master bath and L shaped hallway along with the trim and seven doors. I told him to get Sun Painting on the phone and to decide if he was going to do the work. Then they put me on with Sun Painting. He told me that they might not be able to do that much work in four hours. I said the Big Deal was for eight hours. Sun explained that it was two painters for four hours and one painter for eight hours. They said they sent two painters and I said I clearly told their rep what needed to be done. I can't remember who helped me but he said if there was additional time Sun would pay it. And that was good with me. The reality was I did not get two painters.I got one very good painter along with his wife and son who helped mask off. But they did not paint. They were wonderful people and the job was excellent. Very neat, everything was picked up and thrown away. It took a little over four hours for all the work. I would definitely recommend Sun Painting and the painting family they sent. I intend to use Sun Painting again to do my guest room and the exterior of my home.

I was not sure how much they could get done so I marked a whole bunch of areas. Two guys showed up and immediately started working on the areas and almost got it all done. When they ran out of time, they stopped, packed up and left. I would recommend them. I thought they did a really good job. I think that I had prepared for them and they had prepared for me. They put down protection for the carpet, were quick and efficient. They did so good I had a hard time finding the areas they did the work. I definitely got my moneys worth.

The paint job itself was very good - we were very happy with that. Our issues were with communication and the trim work. The job was not performed the day we were told. We had some trouble with communication between the workers and the office. No one seemed to know when the job was supposed to be done. I was given a date, but no one showed up. We called the office, but there was confusion over when the job would start. When the painter did show up the next day, I thought that the job was finally going to begin, but he was only dropping off the paint. There was also a language barrier with the painter. His wife spoke English, but she was not always with him. At first we had another man doing the trim work. It was not properly done the first time, so he had to redo the work. He also put a hole in the side of the house with his ladder. Instead of replacing the damaged wood, he filled it in (it was a large hole). We were unhappy with this and expressed our concerns with the office. The trim guy never returned to our house, and the house was painted anyway. The paint job was wonderful, but we are still unhappy that the wood was never replaced. We contacted the office and they said it would be repaired and repainted. They were supposed to contact us and never did.

We did this job last year while we were still struggling to keep our carpenter. He was a good craftsman but horrible to schedule. I suffered with my schedule for 4 years (as did our customers). He was a good kid, honest and hard working, but he caused one too many headaches and we finally let him go. This customer was at the tail end of Hilario Gutierrez' association with Sun Painting. I apologize for the scheduling issues but I know that the job was well done. The good news is that the painter, Valente and his wife Lucy are still with us and are still doing great work. Autumn is now handling our operations full time and our communication, scheduling, and just about every aspect of the business is doing much better. And I'm doing what I love--meeting new members and old customers daily and loving life. Mark

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. There were some additional charges for small incidental wood repairs. It was the first time I've used them. It was really good. I had a slight problem with some communication in getting somebody back here to take care of those repairs. It wasn't a huge problem. Once I let them know they tried to make it all right. I would definitely use them again. They wanted to please really bad. They did a really good job once it got done; we just had a little communication problem. They kept calling and trying to get it right. It just took a little bit.
