Southern Painting - Arlington/Mansfield

David Dozier was the Southern Painting rep who gave me the estimate and explained the project. Kudos to David--he represents the company well and I was pleased with his service. The project began with a power wash of the exterior of the house a couple days before the painting began. On the painting days a large crew came, which made the job go quickly. They replaced bad boards (some weather-beaten, some chewed on by squirrels). They caulked all cracks, spot-primed wood that needed it, fixed up and painted the badly weather-beaten chimney caps, and then painted all the wood trim and the garage door. A thunderstorm prevented their finishing on the second painting day as they hoped, but they returned the next morning and finished up quickly. They did a great job. My only complaint was that some crew members were a bit h****** some of the small ornamental plants, either stepping on them or planting ladder legs on them.

We were very pleased with the whole transaction. I received a return call within an hour of leaving a message to request an estimate. The rep who came out to give us the estimate was prompt and professional, and his estimate was competitive. We decided to use this company based on reputation as well as competitive bid. A crew of 6 came to perform the work within a day of signing the contract. They used quality paint and did professional work, and then cleaned up, leaving our place spotless. We will use them again.

I was in need of having the garage walls painted (left bare since moving in), so I decided to contact Southern Painting based on the great reviews on Angie's List. I set up an appointment with Mark Bush, and he was very courteous and professional from the jump. He was even kind enough to remove his shoes for the initial walkthrough, without me having to ask him to do so. After looking at the size and condition of my garage and front door, he told me how many men would would be needed to do the job, how long it would take, how many coats would be applied, etc. After agreeing to to the price quoted, I set an appointment to have the services rendered. Communication with Mark was consistent and not one-sided, which is a plus. He provided me with materials indicating what the crew would do once they arrived, and the prep work I needed to have completed before they arrived. This simple step avoided the likelihood of any potential misunderstandings, which I appreciated. The 3 man crew took 1.5 days complete the job. While 2 guys were prepping the garage floor to be sealed, one had already began sanding the front door. Once he got to a point where the front door needed to be left alone to dry, he continued to help the other 2 paint the garage walls and floor. I'm as pleased with the cleanliness and professionalism of the crew as I am with the end result.

This company is a class act! After a fiasco with White Lion painting company Southern Painting was a breath of fresh air! Manager David Dozier is a very personable, efficient, professional who knows what he is doing. Our first meeting he sat with me and listened to what I was wanting. He took his time going over the huge rooms that all have wide crown molding and several wood doors. He gave me a bid, I accepted and we picked a date. He said 3 days it would take for job to be completed. A few other companies told me 7 to 14 days. David left me with color samples, I knew what colors I wanted but was unsure how to pick so all would go together. Southern Painting offers at NO charge an interior designer, Jan. I called David told him I was having problems choosing colors and he happily told me not a problem, let me have Jan give you a call. Within a couple of hours Jan called and made an appointment that same day! Omgosh Jan is fabulous!!! She came in here I told her my colors I was wanting and in no time sshe suggested GORGEOUS colors and which colors went on this wall and that wall, ceiling colors, etc. So much fun!! On the morning the job was to start David, the foreman and his crew of 7 or 8 showed up right on time, 8am. David, foreman , and I did a carefully explained walk through before job begun. David left, and guys got to work. I can not say enough how impressed I was! This crew knows what they are doing and do it very well! As the end of the day neared they cleaned up everything and were gone at 6pm as promised. The next day again, right on time, 8am and the crew got to work. I need to add these guys are great, a couple could speak English so I could communicate with them, that is very important to me when I have work done in my home. I always felt comfortable and I could tell the guys did not mind at all when I would come and see how all was going. I did such a drastic change it was amazing and so beautiful to watch it all coming together! Absolutely no mishaps, no mistakes...and they finished this HUGE job in 2 days!! I couldn't be more pleased with Southern Painting.The end result is so beautiful, right out of a magazine!!!! I have also hired them to paint the outside of my house in the next month or so.

Everything went extremely well; from the initial contact to the final completion of the actual painting being completed. David was great to work with and explained the entire process from his initial consultation visit to ensuring his team understands the prep work, what needs to be painted and the finishing touches. I would recommend Southern Painting to my fellow Angieslist family members. One of my neighbors commented that she had noticed a lot of Southern Painting signs in neighbors yards. In the future I will definitely call upon them to paint the exterior of my home.

Crew was always on time. Cleaned up everyday. Friendly. Answered questions. David introduced the crew and checked on the progress each day. Wonderful job. The ceiling is beautiful and the wall colors are as planned. Will enjoy this for many years to come.

We are getting ready for retirement. This included a complete redo of the interior of our 3400 sf home. New crown molding, trim, painting of the walls, carpets, cabinets,all of the interior. I tried to select my new color scheme on my own and was struggling. David Dozier sent me an interior designer at no cost to help me along. She accomplished in one hour what took me two weeks.David came before hand and introduced me to the foreman of our project. He also stopped by every other day to walk through every room of the house overseeing the work being done. The crew was prompt, dependable, courteous, and skilled. The bid was 9K less than the other companies and the products were better quality. Who doesn?t love that? After the work was completed he sent three of his men the next day to finish the punch out list like a new construction crew would do. David once again came everyday to see the work was to our satisfaction. I can not tell you how impressed I am with the Area Manager, David Dozier and his crew. Several of my neighbors have called them for their own home re-do?s. Thank you David Dozier and Southern Painting for a job well done.

We cannot say enough good things about this Southern Painting. David Dozier, the manager, was a delight to work with. He was timely, professional, courteous, friendly, and really listened to what we wanted. He also connected us with a ?color consultant? who helped us to pick our paint colors. Very helpful. In advance of the paint work, we met with David and the paint team supervisor who went over everything with us before starting the work. The next day, the paint team arrived (10 painters for the first day, then slowly reducing numbers over the remainder of the week). Each member of the paint team was friendly, professional, and extremely capable. Their work was excellent! We ran into some difficulty with paint color choices (sometimes those paint swatches are just not adequate to predict appearance). David was amazingly patient with us in trying to determine the best solution. If you should desire to have any texturing and/or glazing, these gentlemen were amazingly talented. We now have a home that matches our personality and preferences. We cannot recommend them enough! We are so glad we went with Southern Painting. Best decision ever. We highly recommend them. PS ? recommendations for large paint jobs 1) with so many workers, it is easier to stay out of their way and leave while they paint BUT stick around to see any new paint colors for a large section of a wall to make sure it is what you expected before they paint the whole room. 2) once the job is complete, request the manager to go over all of the work with you before the work is considered ?done?. This saves time and effort for all parties. We had a few remaining items that required a return visit.

They were very prompt and timely, they were efficient, and I think they did a great job. They were good, they showed up when they said they would, and cleaned up the area very well.

I waited for 45 minutes and gave up. Later, I found a post card on my porch from the guy saying that he needed to meet with me personally to do the estimate. It indicated that he had been there at 4:00pm...the appointment had been for 3:00pm. I get that things happen and I emailed them asking to reschedule for the next available appointment at that same day and time. Two days later, I still haven't heard from them. I don't know if they do quality work or if this is an isolated case. I can only grade them on MY experience. And based on my experience, they definitely get an F.

The estimate was spot on and there was no added cost to the estimate. They showed up and did the work they said they were going to do and cleaned up well and left when they said they were going to finish. They used quality material and workmanship. There were a few pairs that needed to be painted and I was quite impressed because they said what they were going to do.

We got them from Angie's List. They painted five rooms. What stood out about them was that they had very qualified people and they did their work on time within the budget that we have set. We even made some changes and they were alright with that and they did not raise the price. They were just very good and when they got here, they went to work. They did not fiddle around all day like some contractors do. When they got here, they were ready to go to work. They did not mess up anything. What they did not move, they covered and so we did not have a lot of cleanup to do after they finished. They were also very responsive.

They were on time every day. The crew was very polite and draped everything in the house with clean plastic. They cleaned up very well each time they left. The paint job is perfect and they finished two days early.

lt went very well. The owner, Tim, said he would not nickel and dime me when he gave me the estimate. I got 4 other estimates before deciding on Southern Painting. There were 4 levels to choose from and I went with the 2nd to the least expensive. I think they had to replace quite a bit more wood. When the service was complete the man in charge of the painting crew said I owed about $1000 more than Tim, the owner had quoted. I called Tim and so did the man that had attempted to charge me more. The man approached me after his call with Tim, and told me that Tim would call me and settle it and that there were "no worries." After 5 days I had not heard from anyone so I called Southern Painting to settle the bill. Tim called me later that evening and said he had made a mistake and that I got a top of the line paint job for our agreed upon price. No haggling, no hassle. I told him I also had an Angie's List coupon for 10% off and he said he would honor that too as was previously agreed! I was prepared for a fight and it was quite refreshing to hear someone admit to the error and accept responsibility. The paint job looks great and I have already referred him to someone else. My only complaint was that the painting crew destroyed all of the begonias that were planted in the flowerbeds and never said anything about it. When I walked outside to look at the paint the begonias were just gone.

Decided to use another painter. Cost was the main factor in choosing another company.

I really enjoyed the way they did the work. The owner is the one who came out and actually bid the work. He was easy to talk to and discuss ideas before any of the work began. The guys that came out were supervised by one of his general managers. They seemed to do a real nice job. They brought all the materials and cleaned up afterwards. They showed up on time and left on time and did all the work.

These guys are absolutely outstanding. Tim was on time for the initial appointment and each day his guys were early. They told us each day how late they would need to work and asked if that was acceptable. At the end of each day they confirmed the time they would return. The best part, they finished the project a day early. We will definitely hire them again.

David came to give the estimate. He was on time, well prepared, and gave us some excellent suggestions (e.g. to paint ceilings in front rooms with the wall color to accentuate the crown molding.) He was polite, professional, and easy to work with. He suggested some colors but ultimately we chose to match the existing wall color for most rooms and used his suggestion for the master bath. The work crew arrived on-time everyday, worked around us and our schedule, and were extremely polite and friendly. At the end of each day, they picked up after themselves, and left the house in a livable, although 'under-contruction' condition. The quality of the work was more than we could have expected, considering the extent of the work. They lived up to all the promises, including returning after some flooring work was done by another company to repair and repaint adjacent walls and trim. The final cost was exactly as we expected.

David explained in detail what would be done before job started. A crew of 6-8 came out and finished job in 1 day. They were very careful about moving/covering furniture and floors. Very happy with job and will definitely use them again for our painting needs.

They were extremely professional. They came exactly the time they said they would come to give an estimate and the estimate is exactly how much the final cost was. They were finish in three days. They moved all the furniture, moved it back, cleaned up everything and was absolutely done wonderfully which is why we're calling them back for some more stuff to do.

Dave Dozier showed up promptly on time to meet me to look at the interior of our home. We walked the areas that we wanted painted and it was obvious that he was a professional. After we discussed everything we were interested in having done, and we allowed him time to get the measurements he needed, he provided and reviewed the quote to us in great detail. We had lots of questions and Dave answered them all. The quote looked great at we agreed on the price and scheduled the work which was another effortless task. My wife and I had been having a hard time selecting the colors so Dave suggested that we meet with their in-house interior designer to assist us in color selection (at not additional cost to us) and that worked out great. The job started as scheduled (everyone was on time) and Dave was there as well so we all walked the home with the crew-leader to go over every detail in each work area. The crew-leader and Dave both called me at the end of both days. The work was completed promptly and ahead of schedule.Dave and I met again to walk the job and it was beautifully done.We noted a couple of small items that need to be done and the crew made the adjustments promptly. This company and its employees are the cutting edge of professional painting. We are thoroughly enjoying our new paint job and will be calling Southern back in 2013 to do more work at our home. Thanks again Southern Painting...Job well done!

The paint job was spotty. The paint was applied so thick that the wallpaper bubbled, even though they knew they were painting over wallpaper.. The supervisor was at my house for a short time. He left very quickly and none of the remaining workers spoke enough english to communicate about the job. A mediocre job at best. I will not use or recommend Southern Painting again. I expected better.

I was pretty satisfied with the work they did. I would use them again.

The came out and gave me a quote within one hour. Scheduled the work over two days. Workers were on time. Everyone was very professional. Final work was exceptional!

They did a really good job and we were very pleased with them. We did check with other companies but their prices were not as good.
